It is very unprofessional to ask a female patient Ito obtain a hint of she plans to deliver a baby. After these years, I realize once a patient does not plan to deliver a baby, this clinic will eventually stop their care and passion( since they make most of the business by assisting with delivery or operations). Last year my ultrasound result came out and diagnostic center suggested to do MRI to follow up, I called the front desk and was informed they will take care of insurance approval request. Then they never took care until I called back THIS YEAR! I got my MRI done and meanwhile showed my concern about a current abnormal health issue with me. Dr. Gao gave me an answer which finally added to my last straw: "It has nothing to do with it. It's all about your age." I could not believe he commented like this and did not have me schedule another appointment. I grabbed all my checkup records and went to another gyn for second opinion to realize the MRI timing was totally a bad time(which Dr. Gao even did not ask nor inform me to avoid this situation). He also came highly recommended and was originally brought to my attention by another medical professional. Every time I would ask the nurses at St. Peter's about him, they would all gush about how nice he was so all along the way I felt that I had made the right decision. Even sitting in the waiting room, other patients would tell me how they had used him for all of their children and that I made a good decision. My understanding is that Dr. Gao participates in a larger practice with other doctors (in South Plainfield, I think), however I saw him exclusively at his solo Somerset practice. If you go to Somerset, you are guaranteed to be attended by Dr. Gao. Dr. Gao's practice appears to be very high volume particularly for OB patients so there were times when I had a long wait for my appointment. Also , his Somerset practice does not have any late evening hours (after 5 pm) on the weekdays yet he is open routinely on Saturday mornings which is helpful if you work during the week. While Dr. Gao has a pleasant bed side manner, he tends to move things along efficiently. I didn't get a whole lot of hand holding, however Dr. Gao and his assistant Jen generally seemed available/approachable & addressed any issues I had in a timely manner including the handful of calls I had to make on evenings and on weekends when something wasn't feeling "quite right." I was probably a little more on the needy side due to my high risk history and since I was referred to the St. Peter's Maternal-Fetal group early in my pregnancy. In any event, Dr. Gao effectively co-managed my pregnancy with St. Peter's and ensured that I was monitored closely. I had a very successful outcome under his watch. I also feel he is a skilled doctor because this time I had less pain than with my first c-section (which was performed by another doctor).

I've been coming to various locations for years fora variety of things but this seems to be the easiest and most convenient time wise. They offer ride assistance and discrete notification system if its needed. The staff has always treated me in a friendly matter and provided whatever information I needed. Usually with any doctor there IS a wait time regardless of how efficient and organized they are. However, this location has always been pretty fast. They offer free wifi and are pretty flexible. Reminder: that when you call to make an appointment you're more than likely reaching the call center not the direction location so they may not be knowledgeable of other health clinic for reproductive assistance. I'd recommend that you do some research and plan to wait a little with a book. FYI: this is not and ABORTION clinic, its a safe place top provide testing, information, birth control, and variety of reproductive services.
