The receptionist is not nice. Even I DID check in at my appointment, they made me wait for over an hour because they didn't do right procedures and my appointment was blown away somehow. Anyway, the doctors and nurses are very kind and nice. read more

If I could give it 0 stars I would. 1 star because the ultrasound tech was nice. Ithaca OBGYN handled my miscarriage extremely poorly. Midwife did not give me accurate info on what to expect and my post miscarriage appt with Dr. Dean went terrible. I was 7 weeks and passed a gestational sac the size of my fist after days of contraction like cramps and almost two weeks of heavy bleeding/passing clots. No one told me how painful it would be. Dr. Dean minimized and was dismissive of my experiences and told me "I'm surprised you were in so much pain, you weren't that far along." I have a lot of thoughts about this but I'm confused how a MAN who has never in his life experienced pregnancy or miscarriage, is going to tell me that's he's "surprised" with how much pain I'm in?? I asked him about a fibroid and he told me it's not an issue. Fast forward and it is actually an issue that my reproductive endocrinologist is helping me with. Every appt that I made with them had to be rescheduled and when I was experiencing pain post-mc they couldn't get me in for two weeks. I went to planned parenthood and the were able to get me in right away which they said was good because I had tissue sitting in me that if not taken out was likely to lead to infection and possibly sepsis. I wouldn't recommend anyone going there. Especially if you are at risk of miscarriage. My treatment at planned parenthood was 10000% better. read more

I read the other reviews and I have to concur that I do NOT recommend this office. I initially set up an appointment over two years ago for some discomfort I was having (I'll spare the details). The doctor told me that is was most likely related to menopause and gave a prescription to try. It did not do much good. I used a couple of over the counter treatments and eventually went back to the nurse practitioner that I normally see each year for annual exam. She was alarmed at amount of irritation and thought she might have to do a biopsy. I told her I had been in months earlier and that the doctor thought it was related to menopause. She then provided another script related to that. I went back and symptoms were not gone. Explained more symptoms that had come up and was told it may be nerve damage and to see physical therapist (What?!?!), and continue with initial prescription. Said they also wanted to do an ultrasound. Months go by, ultrasound done and nothing looks abnormal. More months go by, still extremely uncomfortable, and try to make another appointment. Receptionist tells me it will be awhile, but was able to get me in on a cancellation. Doctor sees me and ups the dosage on prescription for what they say was menopausal symptoms. After I asked them if they needed urine sample, they said "if you have to use the bathroom we'll take one." Then determined there was bacterial infection and put me on more medicine. Couple months go by and I go back for annual... nothing has changed... still very uncomfortable. Doctor prescribed more medicine but then said, "I called in the script but don't fill it." He said, "lets do nothing." For the level of discomfort I was in this was NOT an option. I filled the script and told the pharmacist if this didn't work I was going to find another doctor. When the pharmacist concurs with you because they know how long you have been dealing with something and the amount of medication you have been on, that may be your sign. The doctor also said if I wanted a second opinion I could call for an appointment with another one of their doctors. Completed script and still no change. Called for second opinion with another doctor and the receptionist said it would be a long time before they could get me in. I said I wanted to transfer my records. She told me she would send me a form. Wow... after years of being with this office and they can that easily just let a patient leave.... that says a lot. Went to a doctor in Syracuse and within 20 minutes she said this had NOTHING to do with menopause and that I had a severe infection. Put me on proper antibiotics and within 2 weeks I feel so much better. Literally thousands of dollars spent (wasted) with this office on appointments, prescriptions and ultrasounds for over 2 years. They are extremely incompetent. read more

I've removed my initial review because I've seen a change for the better by the front desk as well as the doctors. The doctors and nurses are now bringing the patient's chart into the exam room and are now communicating much more. I feel much more confident in this practice now. read more

Went back and saw Dr Katherine Gardner. She was amazing! I'm still not very enthused by the stuff, but that is probably the best gynecologist I've ever been to read more

I highly recommend Dr. Baclawski! She was very attentive and patient. She took time to talk with me, and I did not feel like she was rushed. I appreciated her preventive approach to general health. read more

****DR SILVA AT ITHACA OBGYN*** I just kinda wanted to explain everything that happened for those of you that don't know yet. On April 19th I screamed to Roy from the bathroom that we had a problem which happened to be two positive tests. On April 26th Planned Parenthood confirmed that we were about 5 weeks pregnant at the time. Our due date was all set for the day after Christmas. From there we continued our pregnancy with our obgyn and everything was absolutely perfect with miss Adaline our whole pregnancy other than throwing up about 5 times per day. We would wake up and if mom did not have food in her stomach immediately Addy would make me throw up. The shower was her favorite place she always puffed up like a giant balloon and she was just always so calm for me in the shower. She loved kicks but would never want to kick for her daddy she would go a mile a minute and as soon as he tried to feel she would go right back to resting. My blood pressure was great my entire pregnancy usually about 110/70 very normal for me. Around the beginning of October I started to notice I was seeing spots, had migraines, I couldn't walk two feet without getting shin splints and I was so swollen I looked like a whale. So of course when we went to the obgyn on October 12th we filled them all in and explained my symptoms. And at the beginning of every appointment they would do my height, weight and blood pressure and I would also have to pee in a cup. I spoke with my midwife and she said that my blood pressure was a little higher than normal but that they would check it at the end of my appointment. I told her all about all my symptoms and she said they also found protein in my urine that day. She then began to explain what preeclampsia was to Roy and I. Preeclampsia is when your blood pressure becomes higher than 160/90 which then puts you at risk for not only losing your child but also going into a coma, suffering permanent brain damage or even death of the mother also. The only way to stop all of this is by delivery of the child which usually the mother can be induced soon enough and everything is ok but that was not the case for our family. Our midwife redid our blood pressure at the end of our appointment and said that it was still high so she would like me to meet with a doctor on staff that day. He said I was simply dehydrated that I wasn't peeing for that reason and said I was not swollen whatsoever. Roy and I both tried to explain to him that it was serious but he wouldn't listen and said they would do a 24-hour urine sample. I did the sample and returned it, I only put out 200 cc of urine when I had drank 64 oz of water and he said the concentration was almost 850 which for a normal person is around 200. He said to continue drinking water and they would keep a closer eye on me for the weeks to come. On the night October 16th I had a terrible migraine yet again so I called the obgyn after hours and the doctor on staff told me to take ibuprofen with some caffeine. She said if it did not resolve by morning to call them and they would get me in as soon as possible. I woke up the morning of the 17th and of course it did not go away. I called the ob and they got me in for 11:30 am and did a fetal scan. She said Addy was being difficult and that they would send me to the hospital to receive steroid shots so if we delivered that week her lungs would be ready. Which of course confused me because we weren't due until December 26th. When we got to the hospital I remember asking the nurse at the front desk if after my shots if we could do a tour of the birthing center because we had yet to do that along with both our baby showers (one for both sides of the family), my maternity photos or even our breast feeding and birthing class. She said she would find someone when we were all done and that it would be fine. So we went to our room I changed and got the steroid shots in my butt and they hooked Adaline up to another fetal monitor and said that she wasn't moving as much as they would like her to be. My doctor came in and told me I had severe preeclampsia and that I would be having a c-section either the 17th or 18th. He said Adaline would need a level 2 NICU and that theirs was full so she would be sent to a larger hospital and I could be with her in a few days. I actually remember asking one of my nurses around 1 pm if I should be calling in for work before I knew all this and she goes "Catherine you are having a baby yes you need to call into work". They then wanted an ultrasound done to check on her and right after that they put her back on another fetal monitor. Right then she kicked me as hard as she possibly could and my doctor said we were preparing for an emergency c-section. Our daughter was stillborn because he neglected to take care of my child and I. She died and I nearly died because of Dr. Silva. Stay away from this awful doctor. read more

I'm writing this review out of sheer frustration. I am a patient of Dr. Baclawski. I truly like Dr. B. but the way this office is run is making it very difficult for me to keep going there. The front desk staff NEVER answers the phone. If the patient volume is that high (with 5 doctors on staff, I imagine there is a high volume of patients), then they need to hire more front desk staff. When trying to schedule an appointment or ask a question, the phone rings through to voicemail and they (eventually) call you back. They close the entire office for an hour for lunch. I have never seen an office this big do this. When I worked in a medical office with 5-7 practitioners, the front desk staff rotated their lunches and someone was always available to answer the phone. I am currently pregnant and have tried for the last three days to reach a human being at the front desk to schedule my first prenatal appointment. No luck. I guess I'll try again tomorrow. Although I like Dr. Baclawski, I am trying desperately to find another office that knows how to run a successful business and take care of their patients. read more
