Failed to diagnose ongoing infection which almost caused the death of our pet. Luckily, sought treatment elsewhere and he survived.

Both Dr. Shelley and Dr. Moon did a full body scan and presented our options and walked me through the whole process, answering my endless questions and provided amazing follow up. The surgery was scheduled quickly and successful, and Dr. Shelley spoke with me after hours when we received the results (all good thankfully!) All of the vet techs are so so so pleasant, helpful, and clearly care about the pets in their care. I had to bring my boy back in for a check today and they all remembered him and came over to say hi - I've only been coming here two and a half months! They really make you feel like your pet is their family. Comparatively, the cost for both surgery and regular visits has been very fair. I'm super grateful for this team at Midlothian animal clinic and all they've done for Zeke & I!

Before even entering the room, we overheard Dr. Rhoades asking a vet tech why she 'had' to see the German Shepherd, clearly expressing a personal bias or fear regarding the breed. Once she entered, she remained in the far corner of the room and didn't approach our dog instead opting to throw treats from a distance. Our dog was completely calm--no barking, growling, or aggression of any kind. To have a veterinarian act visibly frightened and dismissive of a patient based solely on breed is unacceptable. If a provider is unable to professionally handle specific breeds, they should not be seeing them. I would not recommend Dr. Rhoades to anyone, especially those with Shepherd mixes.

You can tell they truly pay attention to each animal as an individual--they were caring, attentive, and thoughtful about each cat's specific needs. They also did an amazing job working with each cat's personality to ensure a smooth experience and to prevent unnecessary stress. Because of how they managed things, I feel confident our cats will have a better boarding experience in the future. We're very grateful for the great care we received and highly recommend Swift Creek Animal Hospital.

We called an emergency vet and they said they would need to see what was happening to properly diagnose her, so they advised waiting and taking a video if she has another episode (which is a separate issue with another facility). Rather than risk a 30 minute drive to a questionable emergency vet, we figured Swift Creek would help. We were in the parking lot waiting when they opened at 8am. My husband explained the situation, and my dog clearly had seizures (we did take a video at that point), but they told us to go to urgent care. Even when told that she was now having seizures 3-4 hours apart and waiting another 3 hours for urgent care to open would allow time for another seizure, they still said they would not see her. They have been this dog's vet for all 5 years of her life and have seen all our other dogs over the course of 15 years, yet they turned us away when our dog really needed help. Fortunately, we found another vet that was open and willing to see her. They gave her a sedative and seizure medication. They did nothing that Swift Creek didn't have the ability to do, other than show compassion. Swift Creek might be fine when your pet is well, but don't count on them to help when you really need them.

I was told they would call me the next day with the test results. When I called at the end of that day because I had not heard back. I was told the results had come back, but the vet may not have seen them and they would get back with me the next day. The next morning, I received an email for a prescription cat food before the email with the test results, which were not good and my cat had deteriorated immensely since their visit. I called and left a message for the vet to call me. She did not call until the next morning, at which time I informed her we had to put our cat down. (We were fortunate enough to find an at home vet who was able to come out the same afternoon). I was so disappointed with the lack of response from the Vet on an animal who was obviously very sick. The only follow up since that time has been 2 emails reminding me my prescription was still ready to order. I have asked them twice now to take me off the mailing list. Hopefully , we will not receive other reminders for this prescription.
