This is one of those places and I highly recommend you come here for the coffee alone. I wouldn't call it a coffee shop, as it is primarily a restaurant, but it's the closest thing to it and serves a variety of coffee drinks. I just consider it a bonus that they do a great job with the food that they serve. Their menu isn't big, but it feels like they put a greater focus on quality rather than quantity. After about 10 minutes we were seated. - We were a group of 4 Once seated it took about 10 minutes to have the waitress come by and get our drink orders. A group of 6 people sat down to our right and the waitress immediately took their drink orders. Then she came over and took our food orders. We sat and chatted for a bit and when the waitress came by we asked for salsa. She said " Oh, yeah sure, I'm sorry" The table next to us got salsa and chips another 15 minutes later another waitress came by and asked if we were okay. We told her we would really like some chips and salsa. This waitress said she would get it right away for us. Another young lady brought us our chips and salsa. When the food came out - they had forgotten my mother in law's rice and also my refried beans. When we told the waitress she tried to state that my dish did not come with refried beans on the side, it was in the quesadilla, however, the menu makes it appear the beans come on the side. The waitress stated she would get it taken care of. 10 minutes later I received my refried beans. Another 15 minutes passed and my mother in law didn't have her rice. She stopped the waitress and asked if she was going to be getting her rice. she said she would check. When she came back she told us that it would be done "shortly". My mother in law stated never mind, she doesn't want to wait for it, cancel the order. The waitress walked away and then came back within 2 or 3 minutes with a huge plate of rice. My mother in law stated again that she didn't want it and the waitress kept asking "are you sure". and she said yes. We were ready for the checks so we could pay and leave, but our waitress was nowhere to be found. When we finally saw her, all the employees were starting to clean up the dining room. We had to catch her as she walked by to request the checks. When she came back with the checks my husband's and mine was wrong and it had to be corrected. Regarding the food - Salsa - very well seasoned, not spicy. - chips - Nice thin and very crunchy. could also tell they were freshly made -quesadilla Rellena - lightly seasoned, flavorful, the texture was a little hard to get passed. There was supposed to be cheese in it, but if there was it was minimal. It was also supposed to have lettuce and tomato IN it and it was on the side which made it appear the beans would also be on the side, the guacamole was wonderful! - chori pollo - nothing over the top with flavor but was good. my mother in law got soft tacos and she said they were good, but nothing spectacular. Overall the experience was mid to say the most. Will we return - NOPE. we felt like we weren't welcomed i the restaurant and that they were ready to close up even though it was nearly an hour until closing time. Since there are not a lot of options for dinner in New Harmony, I think that is how they stay open. The staff needs training for certain. The gal passing out the chips and salsa needs to pay closer attention to where she is directed. - oh and I forgot to add - we never had our drinks refilled. So, disappointing. :(

This would be one of those moments where you don't judge a book by the cover. We were greeted very well by the owner who was super accommodating. We got checked in and were shown to our room. This lodging facility appears to have been a military style or medical style housing facility. They did a great job converting to a single or double occupancy facility. The room was very large and spacious. Present in our room was what appeared to be a California King size bed. The mattress was a little more firm then we were used to but not uncomfortable and slept well. The room was broken up with the shower on one side and the lavatory on the other. Amenities were simple and personable. The bar on site is fully stocked to your pleasure. Food wise your choices are limited in the hotel but the restaurant across the street can fill the void. I appreciate the the friendly conversation and accommodations provided. It will certainly warrant a return visit if and when we are in the area again.
