Instead, I was shocked to be charged nearly $400 for euthanasia on a stray cat. I understand veterinary care has costs, but that price feels excessive and unreasonable, especially for someone trying to help a homeless animal out of compassion. What was I supposed to do -- let her suffer outside and risk my children finding dead kittens in our yard? I stepped in because it was the right thing to do, and instead of feeling supported for helping an animal in need, I left feeling upset, discouraged, and taken advantage of during an already emotional situation.
