We ended up having a few old fashioneds and purchasing a bottle of their best whiskey and a bottle of lavender vodka!! Delish!! The owner is hilarious and may give you a tour! We were in the area visiting and stopped by to try their wares. We were not disappointed. First off, our host was the head distiller and provided a wonderful tasting experience. Questions about distilling, aging, and miscellaneous topics were welcomed and answered. The library offers a variety of distilled spirits, and each one is done very well. My favorites are the Lavender Vodka and Wheat Whiskey. The Lavender Vodka has just enough flavor to have you saying, " Damb! This would go great with some lemonade". As for the wheat whiskey....nothing more to say than delicious. Mixdd drinks are also offered, and there is an outdoor seating area to enjoy your beverage. My friends and I stopped by here on our way home after our trip to Yosemite. We were introduced by our friend who wouldn't stop talking about their lavender vodka, but from what it sounded like they are well known for their whiskeys as well. I opted for the lavender Moscow Mule lemonade, and it was absolutely delicious and refreshing on a hot day. The owner was super friendly and told us of his stories it was really great getting to know him. the distillery also has some cool art to check out as it also is a gallery. If you're ever in the area, I would highly recommend to check this place out for great vibes and drinks. read more

Literally so much fun!!!! We had a full flight tasting and the spirits were amazing, but what was the most impressive was the conversation and what I learned about whiskey. I come from wine country but throughly enjoyed this experience. From a tour of the actual distillery to sitting and eating endless amounts of cheese goldfish the whisky and conversations never stopped flowing. We even ordered cocktails (you have to try the Fire Fall Old Fashioned). Make this a for sure stop on your next trip to Yosemite. You will not be disappointed! read more

Can I start by addressing the one bad review of this place...@Anna G. I think that had to be a joke right? You were expecting to go to a small batch distillery tasting room, pay nothing, and leave buzzed?! This is their livelihood. That liquor you were drinking had to be aged a minimum of a couple years before it was served to you. They are running a business and you should expect to pay for things when entering any business, no? I don't say any of this to be nasty. It's just ridiculous that you were "embarrassed" and on top of that, it's disrespectful to a small local business that you went so far as to write a review like this. Also shame on you for criticizing the art. Someone with as thin a skin as you is obviously no art critic, so you really shouldn't speak about what's "weird". Mrs Benbrook's Art has traveled the world and won countless awards. I thought it was beautiful and bought two large paintings for our home while my husband and I visited over the July 4th weekend. This new establishment offers a great unique experience for locals and tourists alike. We sampled all the owner was willing to part with, which was essentially his entire line. Most impressive is the fact that he uses natural flavors in his spirits and doesn't add sugar. The lemon vodka and spiced rum, for instance, are impossible to compare from your typical shelved selection available. The Gin is made from Yosemite juniper berries. Try finding that in your local store. Also, the lavender in the lavender vodka is locally sourced. The Rye Whiskey was my favorite, as in general that's my favorite spirit anyway, and his was smooth and easy to drink. The owner is very knowledgeable and makes for a good host. The paintings are definitely worth checking out too. My wife wants to get all 5 of our animals painted by her. Maybe for Christmas! (next Christmas...) read more

My fiancé and I stopped here for celebratory cocktails the day we got engaged! I had the Gingery Lavender Gimlet and the Hot Buttered Rum, which were both well-balanced and delicious. We stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon and the owner Mike was out in the parking lot. We asked him if he was open for tasting and he said sure come on in. He showed us the room where he does the distilling and explained his process which was great. Then we tasted his spiced rum, bourbon, rye whiskey and single malt whiskey. He had vodka too but we did not taste those, next time we are here we will. The spiced rum was our favorite, great layers of flavor and just the right amount of "spice". The single malt whiskey was my next favorite, no peat at all which was right up my alley. My husband preferred the bourbon over the rye and the single malt. We enjoyed talking with Mike about his business and the people he knows from our hometown Paso Robles. It was a very enjoyable visit. read more

This is a great place to visit. We had a tour and tasting - thoroughly enjoyed our time with the owner, Mike, while learning about the distillery process. Mike is charming, very knowledgeable. It was a nice activity to fit in between the more active excursions. I'm not a fan of whiskies, but figured it would be fun to learn more and try them. Visited Oakhurst Spirits last Friday in the early evening (the last hour before Mike closed up) and had a really great time. Visited with Mike about the distillery, about making spirits, about baseball, about places we've been, and about his products. I enjoyed everything I tasted and was so knocked out by the wheat whiskey that I brought back a 750 ml bottle. Really worth the tasting fee, even without a discount on the actual product. (I felt I got my money's worth from the tasting.) I highly recommend a visit if you're staying in Oakhurst during a Yosemite trip. read more

Love, love, love this place! I thoroughly enjoy imbibing in the local fare, and this place is an absolute gem! Tasting was affordable, and the fee is waived if you buy a bottle. There are some places back home in SD that don't even do that. The distiller/bartender was knowledgeable and charismatic. He offered us a tour of the craft distillery on site and explained the process that went into the alcohol we were drinking. How cool is that?! After the tour, we perused the attached art gallery, selected our bottles to take home and went on our way. There was also a collection of merchandise for purchase, shirts, hats, glasses. I really wish they had stickers available, as they are fun collectibles, hopefully they'll get some at some point in the future. This town is super charming, and this place really reflects that. Impressive for it being so new to the area. Will definitely be back. read more

We are locals and were so excited to try this place. We took my boyfriend's parents who were visiting from out of town a week after the grand opening. Arrived in the late afternoon to an open garage with owner Mike Benbrook working inside and seemingly inconvenienced to see us. To generalize our experience, he was neither accommodating nor friendly. He tried to charge us for tastings with absolutely no mention of a cost prior to the pourings, and the portions were TINY. Visibly angry, he claimed that he had indeed informed us of the cost of the tastings before he poured, which was not only false, but also implied that we were trying to rip him off. We left through the "art gallery", which is just a bunch of odd paintings of people's pets. When I go to a tasting at a distillery, I expect to leave a little bit buzzed. When I am a local trying out a new business in my town, I expect to feel welcomed. I left not just disappointed, but offended and embarrassed in front of my boyfriend's folks.
