DO NOT MOVE HERE!!! Nothing has changed...I posted back in 2023 under the name Wally G with photos. Now I'm back, 2 1/2 years later and Oakcrest still doesn't give a damn!! The problem may be that Oakcrest is so big and they still offer nice size 2Bed/2Bath apartments for under $2K. That combination is hard to find in this area. But you get what you pay for in this instance! You get mice! You get mold! You get dog piss and shit on the elevator! You get human piss on the elevator! You get robbed at gunpoint! You get your car broken into! You get NO security! And you definitely don't get any help in a snow storm!! Snow and freezing ice came on Sunday....This is what it looks like in the parking lot on Tuesday (see pics) if you are an Oakcrest resident!! Does that look like a parking lot that has been treated?? How are ppl supposed to get out of that parking lot?? I'm typing this email at 1:30pm on Jan. 27th, 2026 and we have only seen 1 truck, 1 time and they didn't clear the parking lot AT ALL!! I'm just venting, don't really expect them to do anything. Maybe a multi-million dollar class action lawsuit would get their attention!! Ninja's don't think like that though. These apartment buildings are terrible. I have unfortunately been here for YEARS because there weren't many places that were reasonably priced with utilities included. But NOW, they have added a utility fee that varies like crazy every month regardless of your routine. They don't upgrade anything. I've known others who have also been here for years & the carpets, cabinets & appliances are all outdated....even in the new units. They have two washers & two dryers on each floor for the multiple tenants & there's always one broke where somebody is coming from another floor to wash their clothes. Sometimes you have to wash twice to even get your clothes clean. There's a terrible mold issue. My vents in my bedroom & main room are black & when I complained about it before, all they did was paint over it. They never change the filters for the AC unit unless you request it. Maintenance takes their time responding to your emergency calls & sometimes they won't even call you back. You literally have to harass them everyday to get the slightest feedback on your request & IF they finally do come, they do a terrible job. They were supposed to change out my dishwasher YEARS ago & never did but closed the work task like it was complete. I still have to open my dishwasher midway & throw the pod in manually. The mouse issue is the worst. Every....single....day I have to deep clean my kitchen because there are mouse droppings on my stove & on my counters. I even have removed some from off my dining room table, behind my entertainment center, corners of the room, etc. There are mouse droppings all behind my stove & under my cabinet where the sink is. Shouldn't someone professional be responsible for cleaning that? Isn't that a health risk? Every time they send the pest control guy, all he does is put down sticky pads. It might catch one or two but it doesn't resolve the issue. I saw one mouse under my dining room table. When he saw me coming, he jumped up in the damn AC return vent that connects to the outside mech room. & last but certainly not least, watch out for your cars. My tags got stolen one year, my husband's car got broken into twice AND stolen. The day after they stole my husband's car, the guy that parks beside him's truck got broken into. Oh & let's not forget the murder that happened in one of the buildings. I know that's not Oakcrest's fault but it's still worth mentioning. Overall, I am over it & I cannot WAIT to get the hell up outta here. I wish I could give this place a zero. The mouse infestation is way out of hand. That fact that you can hear them the walls and in the ceiling it's creepy. Still waiting on a new refrigerator and the toilet in my son's room to be fixed. Sent a request for those items at least 3 or 4 times. Fresh water stains in the ceiling now. Security is whack, and they have the nerve to inform me that my rent will increase $100 ($1,765) not even worth it. I can't to leave this dump. Also now they are checking units for bed bugs now. Another vandalism, four times since my residency here. Called the front office and the wonderful heavyset guy named. John stated that maybe I'm being targeted now keep in mind there's several residents that have cars have been broken into or numerous occasions. there is no empathy. You spent thousands and thousands of dollars for vandalism that happens at least once a year to your vehicle and then leaks and mold problems still occur management really sucks and does not give a damn as long as you Pay your rent. so be prepared to be talked to by management like crap be told that pretty much. Communication sucks, the girls in the customer service office is rude and nasty, they do not take the time to fully explain anything at all, these apartments are old. Believe the 1-star reviews, they all cannot be telling lies! I believe in always being transparent and speaking facts rather than telling lies to make a property look good. Please don't mind the lengthy review, it goes over everything that you can and possibly will experience. Management company Scott Management Inc. There are 8 floors in the buildings with 2 elevators per building. Just an fyi in 2031 building sometime one of the elevators may or may not work. The elevators in other buildings can definitely vary in size where one is large, and the other is small and close in personal space. Building 2031 is on a chiller boiler rather than regular a/c so unfortunately when the weather is hot outside be prepared to consider older folks, children and pets who cannot be in the heat. Me and my cat suffered severely during the hot weather. The office was aware and did not care. If you have a pet, provide the office with updated records, and a photo or they will say your profile is incomplete. The community does have a picnic area, an open seating area and a tennis court, which the children frequently play inside which is good and safer than playing in the parking lot. You are responsible for a portion of the gas, water and electricity for your unit by usage. This was not like a few years ago, but hey any way for companies to make extra money. The cleaning staff work very hard and well and definitely do an amazing job keeping the hallway, lobby and laundry facility clean so that is amazing. The cleaning staff is very friendly, and they do an amazing job keeping the main areas clean so that is appreciated. There is a mice infestation. I have caught one in my apartment and as I was trying to scoop it up, it ran so quickly from in the bucket and went underneath the refrigerator. There are roaches but I do try to keep my place as clean as can be. I do believe pest control comes to apartment do a look around and then leave. I do not see much of what pest control does for preventative measures. There at times will be dog urination in the hallways and elevators so be careful not to track it. Packages if not retrieved out of the hallways will be subjected to being stolen and picked through. There are car break ins and vandalism so keep that in mind. Even with a steering wheel lock, they can still break into your vehicle and steal belongings. Hide your treasured possessions. The apartment lacks insulation, so the entire place is very thin, and you can definitely hear your neighbors. Some neighbors will stomp from here to hell so just know that's what you're in for if you have heavy walking neighbors. You can hear the water running in other people's units as well. Please be mindful of being on the phone so your personal information won't be overheard and compromised, just for an fyi. Some of your neighbors may blast their music and it will definitely sound like a concert going on. If you enjoy that then great but if not, then that is something that will happen. Also, there will be mold in the bathroom, but they cover it up with caulk and paint. If you cook and your eye on the stove is close to high the smoke detector will go off even if there's no smoke or anything so it can be a little alarming. From personal experience, I did not live under anyone with children but my upstairs next-door neighbors had children next to them and YES you can hear them in your apartment. If you are diagonal from someone who likes to play their music loud, you will be able to hear it and maybe feel it. In some apartments, the carpet will be frayed so document it There will be some good and bad days where the Customer Care Staff will have attitudes which can be a little alarming. If you encounter any issues, document everything and I mean everything. The staff will become nonchalant about complaints and make it seem like you are the problem for complaining. I have experienced one of the Customer Care Reps speaking unfriendly to someone on the phone who did not want to hold on, but maybe they were having a bad day. I am unsure. Take clear photos (nothing blurry), document emails you send and receive to them. Document the apartment upon moving in and moving out. Deep clean everything so you won't lose out on your security deposit. They have a policy of providing a 45 day notice to vacate so keep that in mind. Clean the apartment back to how you left it or of course deductions for cleanings will happen. Return all key fobs, wash cards and any other items to the office upon moving out or they will charge you for it. If I am not mistaken, the gym access membership is $10/$15 it may have changed but I no longer use it. read more

I've lived here for 11yrs. and there has certainly been a big change in this community. The mouse infestation the car theft and vandalism, the dogs (I thought that wasn't allowed) has gotten crazy in this community. I stopped counting how many times the exterminators been out so my husband took it upon himself to fix the mouse problem in our apartment. There were so many hoses around the baseboard in our apartment in every room living room dining room kitchen bathroom where mice were coming in and out we saw them running back and forth so my husband took it upon himself again to patch all the baseboard up with steel wood. You can come in this community and get your car fixed there's people in the parking lot with their personal mechanic shop. Oh you can also Grill in the parking lot and I thought it was no grilling on your balcony. I came home one day and it look like it was a fire on someone's balcony from so much Smoke on the balcony from grilling. The cleaning lady that cleans the building in 2130(I live)doesn't excellent job but you have the tenants who have dogs that leave feces and dog urine in the elevator so sometimes you have to watch your step who wants to track that stuff back into the apartment. It seem like they allowed any and everyone to move in this community. I realize that everyone needs a place to stay but I don't think they're doing background checks can't be. It does not look like what people are saying- It is very clean. The cleaning lady does her overtime and hard work- she is always vacuuming, polishing the floors, and cleaning the garbage bin. They are really fast and efficient on repairs- Coats- one of the maintenance men helped me bring my bed up which was a big savior. The pool is huge and hoping I do not get bullied out of here before I can enjoy it. I would say the only problem is a couple of the guys were bullying me at the gym to the point where I called the police. I did not want to move in and be the only light skin person and calling the police but the guy called me a BITCH, told me to get out, and that I am going to get hurt. I do not do well with threats. I would say the bullying/harassment from a couple tenants and my neighbor behind me is the only issue and that I can hear everything outside the window. I do not find it dangerous it is a nice neighborhood is people will change their perception. You can see the way people review the property shows the stick up their ass and the way they behave. It ruins it for peaceful people as I was honestly grateful to move in here for such a cheap cost even though its a small studio. read more

Oakcrest Towers is not a good place to live. In fact, it's horrible, especially for the price. The buildings are infested with mice. The elevators have not been maintained since the property was built decades ago and have only recently within the last year or two started to be replaced, but the new ones are also not properly maintained. The pipes that bring water to the units are old and outdated. They bang thunderously and make loud noises between units when tenants on different floors shower. The pipes are also full of mold which oozes out of faucets and runs down the inside of toilets leaving a disgusting black slimy sludge that is unhealthy and unsightly. The staff is generally rude, ineffective, uncooperative, prone to hanging up on tenants, never provides viable answers to reasonable questions and takes forever to fix and repair maintenance issues. The units are full of holes that let rodents in, and cold drafty air in the winter. They are also damp, moldy and full of bugs like silverfish. The air vents are never cleaned and are packed with mold, dust and allergens that will make your eyes, ears and throat burn while you try to sleep at night. The callboxes that are supposed to provide security and convenience are unreliable, regularly stop working, and the staff takes forever to fix them. The electricity goes out several times a year and is regulated so that in the summer, it's hotter inside than outside, even with central air conditioning on in the units. Hallways and public spaces are also sweltering and hot to the point of being unhealthy in the summer. The counter space in kitchens is non-existent. One appliance like a small toaster will take up virtually all the counter space available in a kitchen, even for a two bedroom unit. The kitchen appliances also tend to be old and outdated. When tenants vacate, the units are not properly hygienically cleaned or maintained. A simple light dusting is really all that's done, but the pipes are left clogged, and walls are left with the same coat of paint and with peeling plaster for new tenants. The garbage disposals are tiny, old, regularly stop working, constantly back up, and cheap. So expect floods in your kitchen. The walls are paper thin, so expect no privacy. You can hear full conversations in next door units and in the hallways even with your doors closed, and can even hear people on the toilet and in the shower on units above and below you. Salespeople are good at lying and saying things like "the rent doesn't go up" to get tenants to commit, and are generally pretty unethical. They want you to rent and get a cable package so they and their friends at Comcast who they've made a sweetheart deal with to ensure tenants can't get cable or internet elsewhere can get a commission, but beyond that don't expect much. They lie and say you get paid for referring people. You won't, and referring people here will only turn them into enemies of yours because this place is beyond bad. The brick sauna, also known as Oakcrest Towers. The season has transitioned from winter to spring, but the temperature of the building has failed to also transition. It is as hot as the devil's ass in this apartment complex. The tower I am referring to specifically is building 2031. My apartment has been steaming and uncomfortably hot since the end of March. The management of the building has failed to turn on the air conditioning and residents are surely feeling the heat. Occupants have been informed not to purchase any personal air conditioning units, but due to the lack of response, I am almost inclined to purchase one myself. This issue needs to be resolved like yesterday, this is beyond unacceptable. If you are interested in losing weight and improving your health, move to the brick sauna known as Oakcrest Towers. You wouldn't be disappointed by the lack of heat because it has plenty and more. read more

The management and customer service is terrible! There is no accountability at this place! Customer service at Oakcrest stops at the leasing office. Once you sign that lease that's it! You are told to contact customer service for all other issues and inquires. And customer service is lacking exactly what their called CUSTOMER SERVICE! I have lived here for three years and will soon be moving out! I transferred apartments a year ago and have yet to have the call box to buzz guest in the front door changed to my new apartment and phone number. There are people calling my phone daily trying to get into the building and my old apartment! I have requested several times to have this fixed! It is common sense to deactivate the phone number associated with each unit when someone moves out. I was just told by OAKCREST CUSTOMER SERVICE that it is MY responsibility to place a service order for that issue and that they cannot speak for me not having this done a year ago ( No apology no nothing)! So, is it my RESPONSIBILITY to request that the locks be changed as well when transferring apartments?! These are things that should be done upon move out/in! As well, the machine to load my laundry card swallowed my entire card (as well funds I had placed on the card). I went to the rental office to explain the situation and was told the machine was broken ( no signage posted ) and that they were not responsible for the machines and to call the number on the machines to request service. Only thing I got was a replacement card. Not the money that was loaded onto my card. The laundry machines are filled with mold (see pictures). However, again that is not Oakcrest problem and I was told to contact the number on the machine for service. If you have a fancy car you may want to move where there is a garage because you may walk out to your vehicle either missing or sitting on bricks. Maintenance does a pretty good job with coming out and fixing issues in a timely manner And the cleaning crew does an exceptional job busting their tail to keep the common areas clean. But I won't give Oakcrest credit for them since the cleaners are most likely a contract company. You do have those nasty folk who urinate and spit on elevator buttons. And place their trash OUTSIDE the trash room. Oakcrest needs to focus more on making customer service a priority and not just collecting a rent check. As well as being accountable! read more

Oakcrest had amazing marketing almost a year ago when I was looking for places to move with my fiancé and our 2 year old twins. It's been about 10 months since I've moved into building 2031 and Problems begin at the very first month of our stay. Our 7 day checklist was lost... Every time I called the rental office it wAs always an excuse. My fiancé and I even sat with the manager and expressed our concerns. He was apologetic but you can tell it was just to get us off of his back.. Back in November 2019 we were experiencing water problems. Our water was either scorching hot or ice cold. There was no warm water in our master bathroom for months. Every time maintenance came they would do something to fix it but a few days later the problem would go back to the way it was.. The new year 2020 came fast and the problems just kept piling up. The people in customer service are always nice but it's a disconnect with the customer service team and the leasing office team. Nobody knows what happened to my check list. Nobody ever reached out to figure it out either. I ended up sending an email and my problems still when unfixed. I ended up having to submit repair request one by one. Eventually my problems started to get fixed. At last Oakcrest started to feel like home after about 4/5 months. Then both elevators broke at the same time.. for months we only had one elevator and now 9/21/2020 both of them are broken. I've tried to send reviews to the Active Building Page for everyone to see but the admin just deletes them.. I live on the 7th floor. I push a twin stroller, with 2 year old twins and most times I have groceries. Today was the 4th time This has happened. The fact that I had to put most of my food back in my car and carry my groceries and walk myself and two children up to the 7th floor IS RIDICULOUS! I am fed up. If I cant move to another floor once my lease is up I'll be leaving oakcrest for good.. something had to be done. I have a deluxe 2 bedroom apartment... look up the price tag on that. And for the elevator not to be functional for residents is just piss poor. PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE. We work way to hard and pay way to much money for this to constantly happen. My Air conditioner went out over the long Holiday weekend on Sunday 9/3/23. As we know it's been very hot the past couple of weeks, well into the 90's and I called the emergency line and reported the AC was blowing out hot air. The on-call maintenance called me back and said the only thing he could do was offer me a "fan" because he is not an AC tech. I suffered through the weekend and the Holiday on Monday, 9/5/23. I called and spoke with numerous representatives and the customer service manager who told me that someone would be here between today 9/5/23 and tomorrow 9/6/23 to look at the unit, but he could not guarantee when it would be fixed!!! It's now 9/6/23 and it will be anywhere from 90-100 degrees outside and it's 90 degrees in my unit as we speak! Come fix this AC, and don't move here if you want to be treated like a human being. Even if you have never gone to Landlord Tenant court. Even if you are one day late. When I questioned customer service about this practice they state that is not there practice and gave me a verification letter (a two sentence memo that stated I still live here, that took 6 days to be emailed to me) for me to now go and right what is on my rental history. I have lived here for a year. This is my third time complaining about water damage. I called yesterday to report flooding in my closet the carpet was soaking wet and leading into my bed room. I waited all day for management to show and they never did. After my second phone call to the customer service office, carpet cleaners arrived.... three hours later. The only thing they did was do a half-assed job vaccuming the carpet. They didnt even clean it. Its is now the next day after the vaccuming and the carpet is still soaking wet. The carpet is already growing some sort of mold. This morning I discovered the leak is coming from the wall. I regret my decision to move in here UPDATE: Its now two days later. The carpet hasn't been changed and the wall is still stained. Carpet guy put up a fan to dry the carpet but it still reeks. When i asked what hes going to do about the smell he said, " We'll see what happens". My husband and i are currently sleeping in our living room because our bedroom reeks of mold. Carpet cleaner tried to blame the smell of mold on our cats when the litter box is cleaned regularly and no where near the bedroom. My husband turned the fan off for a few seconds and turned it back on again to prove the smell was wafting off the carpet. The carpet guy had nothing to respond so he changed the subject and said we need to contact the main office to tell them to paint our wall. I called the main office in the morning, and supposedly they were to send up a supervisor.... who never came. I called once again in the afternoon and they said the supervisor had left the property and they had no idea when he would return. This is getting ridiculous. My room reeks of mold. The management team clearly doesn't care because they have let this go on for so long. Also i went to take a shower a few minutes ago and the water came out brown. I am extremely upset and dissatisfied. I would not recommend moving here. If your looking to move, look for a place that takes care of their tenants. 1/27/20 Its been a month of continuous calling to attempt to get this issue resolved. There is mold in my bedroom. The office clearly doesn't care. I had to call an inspector in order for them to say they would send someone up here. One of the walls that had mold was only covered. The infected part was not removed, there is more mold on the wall that was not covered. The carpet has yet to be removed and there in mold under it. Do yourself a favor and don't move here. My husband and i are looking to go elsewhere. Hopefully the inspector comes today and writes this place up. read more

Oakcrest Towers has gone down hill. It was rated on a scale 1 to 1010 being best now is read it about it one bad management , dogs on property pissing and shitting all over the property. Been here 15 years and never seen as much dog poop and dog urine on the property. Aggressive dogs I shouldn't even be on the property. Growling and biting at senior citizens. However the cleaning crew is doing a very marvelous job and this is why it probably hasn't completely fallen in.Been here for 25 years and I see the downfall of the towers. Don't move here. Mold has been growing in my closet continuously!!! All they do is spray paint over it and it comes back WORSE EVERY TIME! I've sent in continuous tickets as well as for my bedroom window that leaks every time it rains. LOOK ELSEWHERE PEOPLE!!! Seriously, I wish there was an option to give this place zero stars. The only thing Oakcrest does right is giving you the illusion that this is a great place to stay. When you first enter the leasing office, you may get distracted by the abundant supply of complimentary snacks and treats. This is where my greedy self was put into the trickbag. After the tour, I was sold. Then things go downhill shortly after. I stayed in the 2020 building. I nicknamed it Alcatraz. This building has a gate to the parking lot that works 15% of the time. If you're a night person like me, you will NOT find any decent parking when you return here. This parking lot gets PACKED around 10-11PM. Your only option would be to park in near darkness 1/4 mile away from the building in a VERY sketchy parking lot. Also, from time to time don't be surprised to see shattered car window glass on the ground. They have "Securitas" security guards who patrol the lot sometimes, not to keep you safe, but to look for cars to get towed. Make sure you park straight and in between the lines because if you car tire even GRAZES the white line, you will be paying $180 to retrieve your vehicle from some seedy towing company off St. Barnabas road. There's a lot of noisy tenants here. There was a couple that lived next to me that argued 24/7, and a family of Harambe's that lived above me. I'm still surprised no one fell through the floor. There was also a middle aged African guy who blasted 2000's music at odd times of the day like at 8AM in the morning. And the hallways and stairwells reek of mid grade weed smoke. Another big concern is how Oakcrest feels the need to put everyone's business out there. They will leave all types of notices on your door for everyone else to see, and they are quick to leave them too. But the moment you need repairs done to your apartment (and you will, trust me) they take forever! A couple more reasons not to rent here: -Your packages will get stolen -Raccoons, feral cats, foxes, and possums are normally seen creeping through the parking lot -The washing and drying machines suck -The fire alarm is always getting pulled for no reason and the noise it makes is wildly annoying Do yourself a favor and keep going when you see Oakcrest towers. My car was stolen from their parking lot (jacked, hotwired, and then towed away) and yet management can't even scan security cameras properly to see who did it. Not only that, talking to other residents reveled that this is common. So common that the police are apparently assigning dectectives to the area. What's even worse? Your will get stolen almost all the time, so don't bother buying anything. Between the useless security guards (who just camp out in the back by the garbage dump around the mini shop) and the smell of weed in the hallways, this place is garbage. I would not recommend moving here read more

Management is horrible and basically ignores it's residence. Nothing is repaired properly, it takes several follow ups to remind the maintenance tech to come and then the job is never done properly. They will not replace or upgrade any items in your apartment, but they will consistently raise your rent each year. Mouse are rampant. You are on your own once they get you to sign your lease. DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!! I lived here for two years and it's ghetto. I guess you get what you pay for. I moved out and a week later I get a bill in the mail for $1,500 for unpaid rent and carpet replacement. In the middle of disputing that now. Office does not follow up with tenants, but when you owe them some money they don't hesitate to put notices on your door . They ordered me to shampoo the carpet, then gonna charge me over $500 to replace the carpet. Carpet was in good condition, they just mad because I moved out after someone scratched and flatten my tires. If y'all think I'm giving you all any more money, hell will freeze over and pigs will fly. read more

SO a year later.... Cons the gate is always down. cars are still being broken into. somebody is pulling the fire alarm EVERY week on the same day. Rent is going up like these are penthouse suites! NEGATIVE 0!!!!!!!! I was wayyyyy skeptical about moving here, ESPECIALLY after reading the previous reviews..... I was rushed into a situation so I needed to find an apartment ASAP! So I said hey check it out for yourself! I was told on my tour that bugs and or rodents wouldn't be an issue!!!! And to my dismay, they're all TRUE! I've only been here a month and I'm ready to pack my shit and leave! I didn't sign a lease to share my apartment with ROACHES! And their solution: "we'll put you on the extermination list every week" instead of doing what respectable people do and move me to a different unit, so which means THERES ALWAYS A ROACH ISSUE! As if I want someone in my damn apartment every week!!!! Not to mention I work nights so I need my sleep during the day! 8:30 am maintenance is banging drilling and basically coming through my ceiling working on the above apartment for THREE DAMN DAYS! I got no sleep! Do you know how difficult it is to be a hair stylist who's had no sleep! But you want me to pay my damn money on time! Last time I checked it's called COMMON COURTESY! I have had leaks from the ceiling over my bath tub for the last past years. They paint the ceiling again and again, but never adress the problem the leaking. Currently there is water leaking. Sam, the maintenance man came about two weeks or so and the problem still exist. I can no longer take a bath, because at any moment water will start to leak on me. I have to visit someone to shower. Don't move here. There is a mice infestation. I've heard rumors of bedbugs, and I've seen more centipedes here than I've ever seen in my life; and we live on the third floor. The management is terrible. There's one lady in particular that you can never reach, no matter how much you call. The hallway always stinks. The elevator is always malfunctioning and being placed out of service. They're cats frolicking around in the front of the building and management does nothing. My closet collapsed when we first moved in and they haven't come to fix it yet and it's going on a year. We're leaving. We can't wait to leave. Don't even bother. read more

My car was stolen out of their parking lot a few days ago, and no one seems to want to address how this could happen, with 24/7 security and cameras.
