Oak Tree Inn was a welcome oasis after a very long day driving through snow storms, snow showers, blowing snow and avoiding snow plows, crazy drivers, and slick patches. My room was well appointed and well maintained. Mini-fridge, microwave, hair dryer, flat screen, good WIFI, ironing board. Comfortable bed, clean modern bathroom and tub/shower. Free breakfast (or $7.75 to apply to any meal) at the 24 hour diner next door. Staff was pleasant and attentive. I had an excellent night's sleep in a very quiet room. One thing to note for folks who have difficulty walking very far -- the motel is very long and as far as I can tell there are only entrances on each end resulting in a long walk if you are in one of the rooms in the middle. You are probably best advised to request a room close to one of the ends to make things a little easier. Just a thought. I see there are other Oak Tree Inns around the country. I am going to start seeking them out during my travels. read more

Upon check-in: I have to say that I'm glad that I found this place. The room is spacious and clean, and the modest cost includes a full breakfast (with coffee) at the diner. A bargain if there ever was one! The pillows are high-quality and the mattress is just the right combination if soft and firm. Staying at the Hampton would have cost twice as much and not been any better. After breakfast: The breakfast burrito was delicious, and came with a side of hash browns. The voucher covered the coffee too, turning a meal of over $10 to a mere 74 cents. In summary: Have no fear when choosing here! read more

I just suffered through one of worst customer service experiences of my life. I had been driving all night to get to this motel so I could rest before continuing my journey tomorrow. I had booked a room through Hotels.com, so I thought I was all set. When I showed up at 11:30 pm tonight the kid behind the desk told me that there were in fact no rooms available and that Hotels.com should not have sold me the room. I am not upset with the hotel because Hotels.com oversold them since this (probably) not their fault. What I AM VERY UPSET about is how the kid behind the check-in desk handled the situation. He made no effort to rectify the situation by suggesting other places to go or providing any thoughts on how to remedy the situation. All he offered was I could call his manager in the morning. He tossed a card my way with her number. When I pushed him a bit, asking him to call his manager then, he essentially told me to @*&^ off that he wasn't going to do it because he had things to do (I was the only guest in sight). The worst part, however, is that he never apologized for the situation. I have literally only received customer service once in my life that was worse than this ....and that was from a Frenchman. read more

This was a lot nicer than I expected. For $69 plus tax we got a big room with a king bed, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, desk, tv with cable and more. This Inn should have more $$$ next to its name. I was charged $86 for one nights stay, for 2 adults, mid week, AAA discount included! Sure they give you a voucher for breakfast at the dinner next door, but I don't think the room is any better then the nearby super 8. The shower was stained and gross with the drain plug sitting on the side of the tub and no toilet paper in the holder. Was this room even cleaned? I wish I turned away right there at the register, but after our 11 hour drive, I couldn't even stand the thought of getting back into that car. Next time though... read more

As an over the road truck driver, I have stayed in my fair share of hotels/motels. Whenever I come across one that should be mentioned, either good or bad (my reviews reflect this), I do so. I stayed at the Oak Tree Inn for two days/nights and could not be happier with the facilities and staff. There are good amenities from the computer in the lobby, gym (VERY nice variety of equipment to choose from), and on-site laundry. All the things a weary road warrior appreciates! The room was very clean and had a desk, microwave, fridge, and coffee maker. Not uncommon by any means, but as of late, at least one of the above seems to be absent....not sue why. Not in the case of Oak Tree Inn though! The TV was a new flat screen with an ACCURATE channel guide. Why is it so hard for most establishments to get this right? That might not mean much, but for me it is the little things that make a stay enjoyable or not. As an unexpected bonus, you receive a free breakfast or credit towards diner at Penny's Dinner. This is a VERY welcomed change from the free "conveyor belt pancakes" that so often make up the offered "free hot breakfast". You frequent travelers know what I mean. :) I recommend this place without hesitation! You will not be disappointed! If you are a trucker stuck in the area waiting for repairs like I was, they even offer a free shuttle that runs 24/7. Yes.....24/7! What is NOT to like about that? Classic case of not judging a book by it's cover. When we first drove up I was a little worried. The hotel itself looks pretty out dated and there is a motel that is kinda scary directly next to this one. However upon check in my mind slowly started changing. The girls in the front were really friendly. I read some other reviews saying how rude they were and I didn't get that at all. They were very nice and struck up conversation both during check in and check out. The hotel halls are totally out of a horror movie. Dark, dim lighting, eerily quiet. Once we got to our room I was happy. It's not fancy, updated or a resort or anything. But it was clean, had a tv FREE WI FI, NO PET FEEs and was VERY quiet. I didn't hear a single noise the whole time we were there and the hotel was pretty much full. This hotel is a great value. read more

They let us check in at 9am even though their standard check in isn't until 5pm. Very nice, clean rooms. No extra charges for our two large dogs. We were supposed to get a free meal at Penny's Diner which others have raved about, but unfortunately they were having cooler problems so we ate at whiskey creek next door. The rudeness or politeness of the staff is hit or miss, but not terrible. The rooms were clean, quiet, comfortable, and affordable. I'd stay here again. read more

VERY glad we stayed here! This hotel is clean and affordable. We got vouchers for breakfast at the 50's diner next door, which we were able to use for dinner instead. We both got our meals FREE, which was unexpected! The staff was super friendly upon check-in and check-out. There are also a lot of businesses around that area, and since we were on a road trip, it was really helpful to get coffee at Dunkin' Donuts down the road. We arrive and they don't have our room ready--2 hours after we booked it. There is an issue with train workers that stay here. The train guys take the rooms all night long. That means that there is a risk that you will have to wait 20 to 30 minutes for your room. They have a cleaning person on staff all night long. And THEY TALK ON A LOUD INTERCOM, THE FRONT DESK CLERK AND THE MAID. So you may have interrupted sleep. Also --and this is the worst--the bed is like a giant sponge that swallows you. Alive! Stear clear my fellow travellers. Until they fix the beds at the very least. read more

Terrible experience here. I booked with Priceline, and was given grief at check-in. They asked that I call Priceline myself to change part of the reservation? He was right there, it was 1 AM and I had to call the 1-800 # and be put on hold only so they could tell the guy that the reservation was right! Ugh....then, I was given a key to SOMEONE else's room! What a shock when I walked in and turned the light on in the middle of the night to a complete stranger's room. When I went back down to let him know, he just said "ooops" and gave me a new key. Called to talk to the manager the next day, and was screened from talking to him several times. This company does not care about the level of customer service, or making it right after they made a mistake. Better training and try caring a little more for a guest's experience. I stayed here on a road trip from Chicago to Fort Collins. I had searched through Expedia and was frightened of all the places, but came across the Oak Tree Inn in some negative comments about the surrounding hotels. How happy I am! It's right off the highway. There is walking-distance restaurants and attractions. When I arrived I entered the lobby and there were 5 screaming kids flying everywhere. I couldn't stand it, but it was not the fault of the staff, it was the fault of the two dads standing nearby with their focus on their phones instead of what these little monsters were destroying. The lady at the desk smiled at me, cocked her head to the side acknowledging my irritation with the kids, but did not make any rude comments or act frustrated. That was very appreciated... good customer service. I also observed a couple other staff, younger guys, taking care of other guests. At one point one of the staff walked out of his way to ask if a guest was helped yet. The guys were a bit disheveled, but that does not bother me at all. Their customer service was great - don't judge a book by it's cover. The stay itself was nice. I was worried about it being a noisy 24hour place, but it was quiet and comfortable. The amenities were so helpful. The fridge helped me so much as I was able to have my stuff cold when I hit the road in the morning. Overall I would absolutely stay here again, no doubt. The price was ridiculously reasonable for what I got, it was quiet, I was very comfortable and the staff was helpful. I could not ask for anything else from a hotel. Oh! Also a voucher for the diner in the parking lot, Penny's Diner. It was customary but excellent food. It was prepared there and quick and I was extremely satisfied with it. read more

Stay away from this place! I decided to give it a try while travelling across the country on I-80 last month. I arrived late and exhausted, and it took them half an hour to get my reserved room ready. What was the point of the reservation? When I finally made it to the room, I went to take a shower and was surprised to find that no shampoo was provided. It's supposed to be, but they were "out of" it and unapologetically handed me another hand wash bar. This type of poor management seemed to fit with the attitude of the front desk staff: rude and unwelcoming. The breakfast was good, but do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else for the night. Who knew? This non smoking hotel has large quiet rooms at a fantastic price. Also, rather than providing the usual crappy continental breakfast, you get a 7.79 voucher for the small diner next door. It's nothing special, but cooked to order eggs for free beats the heck out of stale cereal and a bagel. I was on a two week long road trip, and this was a nice gem to find. I am not sure why the oak tree gets 4 stars. The only positive I have is that the mattress was good. Skinny blankets, not that clean, shower that does not drain and toilet that does not flush well and makes you a little worried you are going to clog it everytime you use it. We stayed at this hotel for one night during our drive from Nevada to Wisconsin. Staff was very friendly and service was prompt. As we arrived very late (2am Wisconsin time), we were very happy to know that the room was ready and that we could settle in easily. The Penny's Diner across the street was good, too. First, I'm happy that they were right next to the hotel. There was no need to drive/walk across the street - for someone who just did a 14 hour drive, yes, I did not feel like walking or driving more than I needed to. I'm glad to see they had a breakfast selection for vegetarian's, which was just a breakfast of french toast - as my boyfriend is a vegetarian. My breakfast was hash browns, eggs (scrambled), and two sausages. It was very filling and tasted pretty good. Additionally, the waitress was very accommodating and friendly - after we informed her we were headed out for an 10-11 hour drive to Wisconsin and asked her to fill up our water-bottles, not only did she fill them up, but she added ice to them. (Thanks, lady! :-) That was greatly appreciated!) If I were to do another drive like this, which I probably will in the future, I would not mind staying at this hotel. They are also pet-friendly, which is wonderful. read more

The room was fine but the service was terrible. We were a group with several rooms. One person was given a key to an occupied room--awkward for us and that poor person we walked in on. Next they neglected to return a credit card. Okay it happens , but they called a different person in the group and returned the card to someone else! Fortunately that person was trustworthy. Final straw was there was no housekeeping on at least four rooms, no fresh towels, no empty garbage, no coffee replaced and no made beds after returning from a long day. Complaints generated call from "manager" who advised we would need to request housekeeping (really???) but that was not something we were told at check in. No breakfast and no daily housekeeping as advertised on website. We again complained upon check out the next day--not staying a third night, no way--and were told our room should have been cleaned. No offer of compensation for this mess but at least the check out clerk apologized. Moved to the La Quinta down the road-much nicer. read more

Wow, this hotel was a very pleasant surprise after a full day of driving 10+ hours. It was very clean throughout the hotel including the lobby, hallways, stairwells and most importantly the rooms. It seems this hotel recently had some remodeling work done. It smelled new, no stains in the carpet, comfy bed and nothing was damaged or worn. A free breakfast is included as well at the diner next door which is also very good. read more

Made a reservation 2 weeks in advance to this hotel (we were coming from Colorado and staying in North Platte). We got there at 4 to check in and they said our room wasn't ready. So we left and came back later. Still not ready. An hour and a half later, they finally gave us a room. Went up to the room and someone was already in it (we barged in on them...embarrassing). Seriously?! We went back downstairs...pretty livid at this point. They basically told us there was nothing they could do. The lady (Heather) was rude, completely unhelpful and totally unapologetic. Horrible customer service. All other hotels in the town were booked so we had nowhere to stay. This place sucks. Don't even waste your time. read more

This hotel is also known as Baymont. I had called earlier in the day and advised we would be checking in late and was told no problem. Arrive at hotel and walk to the desk-there was no "welcome, hello, good evening" nothing, just "do you have a reservation?" Next sentence was "we're overbooked tonight and we don't have queen rooms". Finally I was allowed to speak and stated I had a reservation and it was for a king room. Took too long to check in. I am traveling across country to relocate. All of my belongings are on the back of my truck covered with a tarp. I ask if we could have a room where I could park my truck close to see out the window. After a brief hesitation, I was told I could park near the front desk and not to worry. "I have a 3 minute response time from police department" The best part was Penny's Diner that night. The lady was working the graveyard shift- cooking, waiting and bussing tables. Very kind and advised us to make sure we double lock the door because they overbook and it's been known that families have walked into rooms where there were already people in. You do receive a free breakfast voucher, but the diner is strict-no substituting. I think I'll pass on this hotel if I ever travel across country again read more

I arrived at 12:30 am and checked into my room. I stayed up until 2 am working remotely and went to bed thinking I would be able to sleep in before checkout. Unfortunately, at 7:30 am I was awoken by the sound of hammering, nail guns and construction going on in the new addition that they are building two rooms down the hall from me. I called the front desk and asked that they tell them to at least wait until around 10 am or whenever so that the guests can sleep -- that is after all why we get a hotel, right? The noise never stopped. I gather my things and went and checked out at 8:30 am. What a horrible experience -- I really needed the sleep as I had been driving for the entire day before and would be driving another 12 hours that day. The lady at the front desk told me that she asked them to wait but the construction crew would not stop. My advice is that patrons do not stay here until the construction is over, or if they are going to give you a room "in the back" (room number that is above x30, like 136, 232, 342, etc) that you immediately ask for a room in the front, otherwise you will get awoken early in the morning. The hotel is near the freeway, the room was clean, the diner was right across the parking lot so there is some convenience if you do decide to stay. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE I REPEAT DO NOT STAY HERE OR EVEN ATTEMPT TO BOOK HERE. I booked online through Expedia while driving through Nebraska, guaranteed "late check in". Upon check in at 6pm, I was informed there were no rooms available. I stated the room was guaranteed and they said I should have called to confirm. After my vacation I looked and there was still no refund. I called Expedia and told them no rooms were available. They got back a few days later and said I could have used the reservation. I called the hotel who stayed that if I provided information I stayed at another hotel that night, they would refund me. I provided documentation and no refund was ever provided. Next step dispute the charge with my credit card company which Expedia now says it is a valid charge. Do not book anything online for here, they will scam you. read more

I stayed one evening in this hotel. The front desk help were rude, and then they charged my card $150 for a "smoking" fee three days after my stay, and I don't smoke. I called multiple times, but the desk clerk was rude and unhelpful, and the manager would not return my calls. I made the reservation through booking.com, and I reviewed the online reviews on the booking.com site. There were many people complaining about the musty odors in the rooms. I would never stay or recommend anyone staying in this hotel, unless you like getting ripped off! read more

Horrible reservation system! AAA booked a room for us on-line. I called to change date of reservation & after extensive search, woman found it & said it was changed to one day later. However, when we arrived at Oak Tree, N. Platte, the hotel did not have changed date...no reservation for that night. Attendant was extremely rude, demanding to know 'name' of person who agreed to change. I didn't know it. On our way back through the midwest after a multistate excursion in motels, lodges and cabins in CO, WY & SD this was the best accommodation of a 2 week trip - clean, updated motel walking distance to shopping and excellent food. Convenient layout, eye pleasing color scheme and helpful staff - when I called to inquire about availability on short notice, they pleasantly answered my questions and kindly offered to make a reservation multiple times. Secured a full sized 2 bed room complete with firm mattresses, thank you, for $90 (keep in mind this includes meal vouchers for all members of your party @ Penny's Diner next door). Great drove out west for a week staying a cheap motels Econo Lodge ect this place was by far the best. Great rooms and super speedy wifi. We came in at 10 pm and the owner gave us coupons she had bought from the local high school fundraiser so we could get a deal on a meal. also breakfast at penny's dinner was free and the best hotel breakfast ever! read more

I would not recommend the hotel. The room was nice enough, but the room was clearly not cleaned very well between guests. We asked two times to have the room vacuumed but it was never done once over our four day stay. Visible smugges on the bathroom mirrors from day one also. Employees were friendly, but front desk clerk was not even knowledgeable about the hotel and could not even help us with our reservation let alone help us get our room cleaned. They also no longer have complimentary breakfast coupons even though that was mentioned when we reserved our room. read more
