Bethany Home excels at extending and supporting the independence of apartment residents. My 98-year-old mother came to Bethany after entering hospice care in another town due to her "failure to thrive." When she arrived, she could barely travel about 100 feet with a walker before she had to rest. After 6 weeks living in a Bethany independent living apartment, she was thriving, had made new friends,was delighted to be removed from hospice care, and pleased to still be independent. She remained in independent living up until her last week. As her heart failed she moved to a room in healthcare. Thoughtful and attentive personnel from Bethany and hospice gave her a peaceful, dignified end to her long and active life. We are so grateful that Bethany Home could be her home for the last chapter of her life.

Garbage! Here is…read morewhy: if you are interested in getting a work out, go somewhere else. People coop the machines; sometimes they will sit on a machine for over a half hour. During this time they will be talking to their friends, texting, or talking on their cell. Not much by way of exercise, but they run their mouth interminably. Most of the clients are over 60 years old. But they play twenty something music which is lame to a senior. Employees of Stonehill also coop the immediate parking. I have entered the fitness center with maybe less than 8 people using the equipment but the parking lot closest to the entry door is full. Because of what I just described above, I asked for a refund and was told by the woman--Mary-- who 'runs' the place, asserted that they would not provide a refund. Since I paid for an entire year, I questioned why if one pays monthly they are given opportunity to cancel provided they give one month notice. No satisfactory answer was provided. I asked for a copy of the contract and after reading it, it was clear that not a 'single' sentence asserted denying refund on a year's membership. In fact, as I noted, it does say that one month notice be provided. If I took them to small claims court, they would lose! But most egregious is that my experience of this place, and the way it is run, is best characterized as an authoritarian fiefdom. It is pretty clear the 'manager' has a Passive/Aggressive personality disorder. Moreover, many people in this organization are engaged in dysfunctional expressions of 'ageism.' My presupposition is it is entirely unconscious. Nevertheless they need sensitivity training for working with this population. Take a moment to read what their Mission, Vision, and Value statement taken directly from their own plaque that hangs near the entry door; assuming you want a good laugh at the contradictory ideals against the lived reality of some authoritarian twits. They need to expand and improve their whole dining experience though--from the line back up of diabetic patients required to have insulin before dinner, to the time it takes to be waited on and for dinner to arrive. This was the biggest issue and caused a lot of undue stress that could have health ramifications when sugar levels are involved. Otherwise recommended. The nurses and CNAs were great.

Now this review is from only one visit but the person that is staying there loves the food. This is not a common remark from anyone staying in a nursing home. I spoke with three different nursing aids there and was impressed with each of them in their pleasantness and confidence in their occupation. The hallways are all decorated in some very nice artwork. They have a small aviary near the front door with some lovely birds and I am told they also have an aquarium. I have never seen these in a home and they represent a really nice touch for the residents. This is certainly a home worth checking out for yourself or loved one.
