Whilst Greenock Oak Mall shopping centre is by no means a huge place, it is possible to get almost everything you would need there. It is a fully covered one level mall, with just a few shops on an upper level at the cathcart square end of town. (inc JJB sports, and upper level of Mackays) There are a good selection of shops inc chains Boots, Primark, Argos, Body Shop etc but also a few individual brands as well, can't forget our wonderful Rhythmic Records which sells cd's etc old and newthe guys in there can pretty much source anything you want for a reasonable price. Other things include O'briens cafe in the centre of the mall which has internet access just behind it.
My biggest gripe with the mall is that there is not enough eateries, there is the cage aforementioned and also a small cafe called Leo's but this gets very busy and can be a little on the expensive side for what is essentially a greasy spoon! My favourite has to be Zumo smoothies, perfect for a quick snack on the go.
Another gripe is the lack of decent toilets, there is a public loo located on the upper level next to Mackays but isn't in my opinion very well signposted, there is also a toilet located through the tunnel beside Marks and Spenceragain not well signposted.
There are a few pound stores or cheap thrift shopsas well as at least 5 card shops! Parking is somewhat limited and it really does pay to get in there early any time of the yearthere are however plans in the not too distant future (so I hear) for a multi storey car park located behind the mall just beside the bull ring car parkI think I'll believe that when I see it though. read more
