We have found that these large companies treat clients as a number, and rarely provide the individual attention needed to properly manage investments. When markets are tough and unpredictable it is nice to know that John is looking at my account and doing all he can to balance my portfolio in order to meet my goals. John limits the amount of clients he takes on in order to ensure he does not spread himself too thin. As concerned as I am with how well my account performed in charging markets, it is the performance of my investments over the last three years which really highlight J. Dyhr Capital's successes. John is an independent Registered Investment Advisor based in the Santa Ynez Valley who specializes in Investment Advising, Financial Planning and Wealth Management. Rather than taking orders from a regional or national branch, J. Dyhr Capital's independence allows it to allocate to the best possible investment vehicles for its individual clients. John also close relationships with CPAs, Tax and Estate Planners and local attorneys to assist his clients in all facets of retirement planning. He is local and knows many people in the valley. There is a good chance he is already working with one of your friends or associates. Ask around everybody knows John, and just about every can attest to his strong character and integrity. In our first meeting, John sat down and carefully educated me on the process. He walked me through my complicated quarterly statement from a large local branch and helped me understand the complicated tables and hidden industry vocabulary. If you are looking to chase market returns or flip stocks J. Dyhr Capital is not for you; however, if you are looking for some portfolio stability through someone you can really trust then look to John Kirkgard.

I used Ross | Carreiro | Brown CPAs for tax preparation and advisory services. In June 2025 I paid…read more$1,933.59 in person to close my account before relocating out of state and was explicitly told my balance was paid in FULL. Two months later, I was contacted and told I owed more money. The balance then changed multiple times -- first I was told $800. Then, AFTER a "50% discount," I was told the amount owed was $1,193! There was no clear or coherent explanation. Invoices issued months later included "Income Tax Return" charges despite my prior payment and being told the account was closed, making the billing appear retroactive and inconsistent. Communication was slow and unreliable despite repeated follow-ups. I was told the head CPA, George, would get back to me about my billing dispute once he was back from vacation. Two months went by before I reached out again and heard anything. I made a reasonable, good-faith offer to resolve the matter if a final invoice confirming no remaining balance was issued. That never happened. Instead, billing continued, including yet another invoice sent in January 2026. Their billing practices are confusing, delayed, and poorly managed. I would avoid them, but if you don't, I strongly caution you to scrutinize invoices carefully and not assume that being told an account is "paid in full" actually ends billing. Document everything. This was not a good experience - on top of their already exorbitant fees.
