I'm on the fence about this CPA service. It was recommended by my girlfriend, who's had her personal and business taxes done by Nick. For 2023, I decided to give them a try since they're local, and I had doubts about the reliability of my previous CPA, who was a friend of my ex-wife's. I submitted all the requested information to their front desk in February. However, in April, I received a notice from the FTB (Form 5071C) regarding a tax return filed under my SSN. I confirmed I hadn't filed a return and informed the CPA's office, but I never heard back from either the FTB or the CPA. In August, things got even more frustrating when I hand-delivered my girlfriend's personal taxes and our business taxes. They later claimed I hadn't submitted them. I provided the date, time, and her name, but nearly a week later, they said I had given the wrong last name for my girlfriend. This caused additional delays in processing. Then, in September, I learned their software couldn't file my taxes electronically--a problem that should've been addressed months earlier. They'd been waiting on my Schedule K-1, but once it was ready, I had to file my taxes by mail in early November. By October, my taxes were finally submitted, but after eight weeks, I noticed no refund was deposited into my account. When I called, they directed me to the IRS website, where I discovered my federal refund had been applied to an outstanding balance. The FTB later sent a letter saying my return had been changed, and I owed thousands. I contacted the CPA, and they investigated, but now my state return is stuck in limbo. To make matters worse, their emails have been condescending, suggesting I may have forgotten filing a return earlier in the year. I hadn't--it was their office's delays and errors causing the issues. Now, it's late December, and I still haven't heard anything from the FTB, nor has the CPA provided meaningful help in resolving the matter or tracking down my state refund. Will I continue using their services? Probably, since my girlfriend has been with them for a while, and I hoped using the same CPA would simplify things. That said, I'm cautiously optimistic they'll clear up this mess and improve the process next year--especially when it comes to filing electronically for 2025. read more

Nick Medeiros might be OK. But he's trying to expand and there's no vouching for who he hires. My experience was absolutely terrible. I really gave them the benefit of the doubt. I even spent two years there. I regret every minute of it frankly. Do yourself a favor and find someone local that is not just an add-on to someone else's practice. I would give a one star review, but I worry it will be eliminated. I think it's important people see that this is not a good place to go. read more

Don't waste your money or time using this unprofessional tax preparer service. I can only speak on having my year 21' tax Refund adjusted by IRS due to incorrect and incomplete information that did not match IRS records. I provided all documentation pertinent to my filing year, dependents, stocks, mortgage. I'm a team player, I provided all supporting documents, included my email personal cell, work email, I communicated clearly that if there were any questions please reach out and verify with me first so that everyone is on the same page. One 5 minute phone call initially on 2/10/22 was Nick explaining how straight forward, simple and easy it would be and he had it handled. Alright, I thought, easy is good! Wrong! 4 Client copies later, (1 sent to me that was someone else's entire life, a lot of personal information! In the wrong hands could be very bad!!!) (see attached photo of exchange between this guy nick and I.) 12 days from the time it was communicated to me as " straight forward simple and easy" and FINAL copy submitted. Amendments, my refund changed each time, me signing e-file authorizations and sending them ASAP without reviewing the final submitted copy ( That's on me ) so 2/22/22 was my lucky day, I was exhausted, but satisfied with my refund amount. 3/1/22 received CALI 3/9/22 received FED but an odd amount, I assumed they broke up the payment which is fine, but I wasn't given any reason or note stating why I reached out to nick on 3/29/22 stating split payment, no response. 3/24/22 another email stating I didn't get an initial response regarding the splitting of payment. he responded with he was wall to wall appointments all day long. This became the normal, "Gotcha. They are doing some very odd stuff with all of the stimulus and child tax credits. Based on the transmission date of your returns, I am thinking this is unrelated to your 2021 returns. I would just sit tight a few more weeks to see what they send once those are processed." I stayed extremely patient, I even became proactive asking if I could take the steps necessary to receive money that was due to me. That in these times would help out immensely, I was put in a financial hardship position due to errors that I found by reviewing the final submitted copy, Nick gathered the Date on My children's SSN Card when in the supporting documents I included he had DOB clearly labeled on Birth Certificate!! The guy took the straight forward easy way of assuming and when confronted with evidence of why adjustment was made, he denied and created animosity between us further claiming that he is not responsible for errors made, and does not speak to the IRS (without power of attorney) and its not something he would address until after tax season, he just doesn't have the time available to help me! I wrote him an email 4/11/22 explaining that I was becoming frustrated with the sit and be patient process, he pushed what is a simple error to the side and left it there. 5/11/22 I returned Form 2848 Power of attorney signed to him. 5/12/22 He issued refund and said he wasn't interested in resolving this issue at that point, claiming he didn't know why I was blaming him for the adjustment made by IRS, But as stated I informed him of what they sent to me as reason... I hope this frustrating situation I'm left with helps anyone considering using this service, to go elsewhere or do it yourself! I was gifted this service, the previous year I prepared my own taxes with no issue. I receive a refund each year, so with how the Gov. handled the Pandemic and child tax benefits I agreed to use what I thought was a motivated individual that knew more than I did! My tax appointment was confirmed a month in advance! on Feb. 10th I received an email, not a call to reschedule said planned date because he couldn't honor it. My Lady and I had our second child Jan. 21' we were expecting child tax credit and a third stimulus. Now ill be doing the ground work to finally receive that payment once correct info and errors are amended and sent to IRS to rectify this situation!
