I like Revels. There, I said it. I don't like all of them, but I like not knowing which is coming next. It's exciting. And they're all chocolatey, which helps.
O2 isn't chocolatey. That LG phone went put of fashion months ago.
It (O2) isn't that exciting, either. And, actually, I'd almost prefer it if it was always bad, so I'd know to stay away. But the one thing this O2 shop has in common with Revels is you have no idea what's coming next.
I went in a week ago to get the low-down on the new iPhone 3GS. My word. I knew more than them, and all I knew was the name. I mean, seriously, if you work in a shop you are meant to try to sell stuff, right? You ask the dude in O2 to tell you about the iPhone, you know, to try to tell you its features, what's new about it, the different options you have... instead of telling you, he stares, bored, into the distance, lets out a sigh and mumbles, 'What d'you wanna know? Cos we don't know much.'
Seriously? That's your selling technique?
1 star.
But then I (somewhat bizarrely, you might think, after the previous exchange) decided to actually get an iPhone. I looked up online about the new features and prices and payment plans and what I needed to take with me to the shop to set up a contract.
And it's the easiest thing in the world. The guy (a different one, I might add) is really nice, tells me what he's doing, we chit-chat, he does his work, is pleasant and quick about it, answers all of my questions and I'm out of the shop within 10 minutes. A happy customer.
So come on, O2, sort the good from the bad, the pretty from the ugly. Work out which of your staff think 'well read' describes a tomato and boot them out. Then you might get four stars. read more
