Back in the 40s and 50s, The Ritz must have been Manchester's most glamerous music venue. As well as platforming visiting acts like Frank Sinatra, it was unique in having curved walls, a fantastic balcony, and a sprung dancefloor. Whilst it still makes a wonderful music venue - hosting occasional gigs by bands like Babyshambles, Arctic Monkeys and Klaxons - The Ritz's main occupation these days seems to be hosting cheesy club nights. Every Monday, there's weekly student night Dirty Stop Out with rock, pop and metal deejays, every Wednesday there's 70s night Love Train and every Saturday there's Party in The Town playing bad music from the 70s to Take That. All three nights seem to be a hit with students and singles but I've personally no desire to go somewhere there's (A) a surplus amount of Alcopops and (B) big groups of horny, intoxicated stag and hen parties. First off I like a nice sticky floor,it gives a gig a much better atmosphere,and as i'm only ever going to go to a Metal gig, a sticky floor is a must. The Ritz has sticky floors,and it is also a decent place to watch a band or 3,why the hell anyone would want to go to a club night here is beyond me. Although saying that why anyone would go to a club night anywhere is beyond me,I have an irrational hatred of disc jockeys and lines for the toilet.. Where was I? Oh yes the Ritz,if the gig I went to was crap then it might've got a worse review,but as it was the gig was one of the best I have been to in 21 years of gigging. German Thrash,the king of music. I was prepared to give the place 4 stars but then I remembered the bar prices, if you want to rip off club goers fine,but don't rip off those that have already spent £20 to watch a band. I think I've always liked the idea of the Ritz better than the actual follow through - it's a venue where you can get close to the artist but downstairs it's a flat box meaning you have to be right at the front to see what's going and if you stand on the balcony you look like some old man disconnected from the action. I hit the Ritz to see Mark Lanegan and have seen him in venues such as the Academy and RNCM before and these venues have been much more enjoyable. I'm not really too sure what was going on on Friday but even though it was packed it seemed no one actually was there to see Mark Lanegan - peeps stood around chatting, no one singing along etc etc - were these people all fashionistas, is Mark Lanegan fashionable now?!? - I don't know but I found the atmosphere very flat and lacking something. On top of that the beers selection was awful - all over priced crappy lagers. Guinness was the best bet... When asking the bar staff if they'd start selling good beers any time soon like some venues were doing they said no because it's used as a place to hold student nights after gigs so they sell the standard crap. Cheers! Don't think I'll be going here much unless some of my very fave bands are playing here soon. read more

Firstly, if I'd gone to their bar, this'd probably be a three star review (as the options are seriously dire), but as our group had planned ahead and enjoyed good beers and food in nearby Font, we only needed to stand back and enjoy the gig; and that's exactly what we did. I've been here twice now, first to watch Eagles of Death Metal and most recently Animal Collective. The acoustics in this more intimate venue are really good indeed - I may have closed my eyes on a few occasions and 'lost myself in the noise'. Ahem, anyway... Entry and exit were both pretty straightforward - if you stay on the ground floor you're probably more likely to get out first, though the upper level (which has its own bar, should you desire) gives you unobstructed views of the stage. I'm tried both, but prefer the ground floor, which is sprung so once people start jumping, you will too :) The venue has been around for decades and is integral to the city's ever-burgeoning live music scene. To see acts in a smaller space but which retains its crowd atmosphere, The Ritz is a winner. read more

Heres my review on The Ritz Music Venue in Manchester City Centre, I had never been before and didn't know what to expect, We had bought tickets for Sophie Ellis Bexter, earlier on in the year from the box office at the Ritz which opens 12pm-2pm monday to Friday, it saves on those booking fees if you can manage to pop down and get them from there. Inside the Ritz was very intimate and a pretty small music venue and probably the smallest place I've seen a gig before and loved it, the music sounded great and the whole intimacy and atmosphere was electric even with the bouncing and sticky floor! I'm now a fan of the Ritz and will be looking at more gigs coming up soon at this great venue! All the staff seemed really friendly and it was pretty quick to get a drink at the bar, 2 pints of Becks came in at £8.40 about the going rate for music venues these days. I love the Manchester Music scene and this is a fantastic place to see youre band or artist if they are in town. read more

OK, so the place has a great atmosphere and some cool events. Intimate surroundings and a great place to watch a band and 'get close'. But; I can't give it more than two stars. I realise that the sticky floors are somehow famous - but still a bit unpleasant. Really small bar area that takes an age to get served (and really over-priced). The Ritz. Looks like a theatre, is a club. Its situated in a strange no mans land between the clubs and bars around Oxford Road station and those on Deansgate Locks. From the outside this place should make an incredibly cool venue. It really should be made more of. Having said that, its not too bad, and if you're in the right mood, it can certainly do a job. The best night (in my humble opinion) is called Love Train. Its really cheesy and they always play songs such as Love Train, believe it or not. Everyone there is having a right laugh and its easy to get involved and be part of it. If you are willing to leave your music pretensions at home you'll have a great time here. Can't help feelings though, that with the venue they've got, they should be doing a better job of it. For that reason alone they've dropped from 4 to 3 stars. Oh, that and the fact that a lot of older men seem to be coming on to the girls there. That could be my paranoid boyfriend mentality, or it could be true. read more

Firstly: the weekly club night. I went on a night when 'Love Train' was about half full and with The Ritz as the birthday girl's second choice that night. Not a good start. The crazy 70s era dancers on stage were very in your face, very enthusiastic and a bit cringeworthy. That said, it was difficult to take your eyes off them. And they were infectious. Girls in neon afros started to trickle in and the Disco Muscle who love to Hustle soon had my friends copying routines and even doing cartwheels in the quieter bar upstairs. For those who love the 70s you'll be in disco heaven; I've got to say I'm more of an 80s girl myself. Now, my first experience of the Ritz was as a music venue. It really is almost unrecognisable when you've been to a sober indie gig, say, and then you walk in to Love Train. I've seen a band called Hot Hot Heat there mid week and there was tons of room to dance if you stood further back on the raised part of the ground floor. It is supposed to hold 1,300 people over the two floors but I've never seen it tightly packed. In a gig, you can appreciate the art deco interior properly. It makes a nice difference to the box-room style of some music venues; the same kind of character (different period) of somewhere like Koko in London. I'd love to see a night on here that went even more retro: back to the Ritz's roots. For the time being they are pushing the 70s and tribute bands as in their nicely titled Next Best Fest at the end of September. read more

I know that it's called the O2 ritz because it was formerly just the Ritz club, but it's just not a venue befitting of the name. I've been here for gigs, fayres, and performing and it's just as venues are. That kind of fusty beer smell that makes you think of teenage years when you went to more gigs, always toilets up or down stairs (down, here- where the cloakroom queue gets in the way) and an uninspiring bar. At the bar, service is fine, theyve started using plastic straws- which is great, but still use plastic cups- which I know is needed for safety- but I do hope it's recycled! You can also get "two pint cups" for selected drinks, which helps avoid queueing. It is fairly cheap though. Other than that, you've got the standard venue gripes, like "how has the average height of the population become 6'2" and why are they all directly in front of me?". The best things at the ritz for frightened rabbit (yay!!) on Thursday -other than clearly the band themselves- the super polite and efficient staff (and the man who didn't judge the avalanche of receipts on checking my handbag), and the super tall dude who spent the gig singing and dancing near a pillar to not be in everyones way- what a sweetie!!! read more

Great gig venue in Manchester, not too big, not too small. The acoustics are really fantastic. There's a bar on either side of downstairs and if you'd prefer a more relaxed view there's a 3/4 balcony upstairs overlooking the stage. The worst thing to be said about The Ritz is the beer is terrible, bets thing to be had is Guinness. I wish gig venues would improve on this side of things. Manchester Academy at least serves a selection of cask ales, why can't other venues follow suit? read more

We used to visit The Ritz when it was owned by HMV for night like Love Train; nights where it didn't matter if the floor was ridiculously sticky and the vodka was watered down. However, when the other half broke it to me that a gig we planned to go to was hosted here, I was reluctant to get excited. I don't need sticky floors in my life. Since being taken over by O2, The Ritz had undergone a small transformation. You no longer get attached to the floor within moments of stepping foot inside and the staff are nothing short of lovely. Security on the front of house were efficiently checking bags and offered the pregnant individual in our party a stool for during the gig. Really nice touch! A member of security also spotted her at the end and asked if she wanted to be escorted out, showing her an alternative exit to the main doors. The cloakroom is downstairs and they do have an O2 Priority offer for free coat check ins - but, and it's a big but, you need to get your code before you go downstairs. There's no signal at all and they won't accept a loading screen. The girl here was slightly overwhelmed but saving £2 seemed worth it! The gig itself was one of the best I've seen - The Cat Empire - and this experience has definitely showed The Ritz to be a main contender in terms of larger music venues in Manchester. Let's hope it stays that way. read more

There is nothing I like about The Ritz. How it's managed to bag the aforementioned acts of Babyshambles, Arctic Monkeys and Klaxons is beyond me. I'm almost certain that if these bands had actually been to The Ritz, they would think twice about playing there. The whole place is seedy and gross. From the half-naked girls 'dancing' on stage to the sticky carpets, not to mention the damp and mouldy smell that hangs in the air every time I've been, it's just plain nasty. What makes it worse is that whoever runs the place doesn't seem to recognise just how nasty the place is, and think it's acceptable to charge a fiver to get in (definitely not worth it) on top of overpriced bar drinks. The only thing I can say is that I think it's a shame, because I think once upon a time The Ritz must have been a lovely venue, but it's just gone to waste with cheap student nights and seemingly ill-equipped cleaning staff. read more

I've only ever experienced The Ritz once before, when I was forced to see a headlining band which I wasn't really enthusiastic about. My first experiences from the outside was that it looked alright to be honest. I had high hopes for this venu...Sadly, they were soon trashed by the quality of the flooring. Not only was it rather dark to inspect the flooring (As odd as that sounds) but I was disgusted to feel that the floor...was oddly sticky. I'm not 100% on the reasoning why. Maybe a spill? certain type of flooring cleaner? I guess I will never know, seeing as I'm in no rush to return. After handing in my bags downstairs for a low sum, we went up the stairs into the venue. I must admit, it's significantly large to uphold a decent crowd. We huddled up in the mid, below a overly sized disco ball. From which I presume was built in during the early construction of the place, which is always nice to see (Original furnishing) From what I can vaguely remember, there are two bars (One on either side) Might be incorrect there so feel free to correct me. I can't comment on the prices as I only took advantage of free water. The stage was surprisingly good, every band had a decent amount of space to perform, and the sound quality and acoustics were to an adequate state. Now to why I despise this place....The flooring. I don't know why, or how. But it felt incredibly unusual. It felt like rubber, which vibrated to the bass of the band. I can see why people might like this (however, I had opposite feelings) It was just...unusual, and very sticky (Again with sticky surfaces!!!) What made it worse, was having to wait just over an hour and a half just to collect my bags.... The biggest ball ache I've ever had the misfortune to experience. ....as evil as my last comment will sound, my joy of the night was finding out I accidental broke my girlfriends friends jaw, priceless.... Actually, I've now changed my mind. The "Shits" (As my friends commonly refer it to) is of an adequate standard. Shame that HMV now own the venue, They aren't very good with...well...anything. read more

I like this place. I rember it from the late 80s early 90s. I was lucky enough to catch an up and coming (in my opinion) from Canada WOTE on a whistle stop tour of the UK. The Gig was £12. I managed to park on the street. The Place is small enough to feel intimate but large enough for small events. It's got a nice balcony if you don't want to be in the crowd. Easy to get to from Oxford Road Station and by car from the M62. read more

If there is a band you like playing at the Ritz, it is a must have that you go! The place is great. It is small enough to get a good look at whoever is playing, and also has an upstairs balcony part where anyone can go up to and watch the band playing from over their heads. Compared to other venues the drink choice is much better, as usually I believe it is a club, so there is more on offer than just the usual low choice of drinks at a usual gig. The prices of the drinks were less offensive than others too! Has toilets downstairs and upstairs which is a bonus. Has a cloakroom downstairs, only £2, bargain. Price for gig tickets very reasonable. All in all a fab night! Been to many gigs in Manchester, by far the best venue. read more

I know the name makes this sound like some kind of council faced bingo night down the legion but look past it and you've found a pretty decent music venue. Some really top bands perform at here with De La Soul, Athlete and David Grey being some good examples of the calibre of stars that have been on recently or are due to make an appaerance soon. Unashamadly retro in in style, the interior takes you right back to the the glamour of the thirties with its obvious Art Deco influence. There's nothing pretentious about this, it's not a modern re-telling of the style- it simply hasn't been updated in decades, probably because it hasn't needed to- why spoil the romance? The venue works so well becuase of its properly thunked out arrangement. Raised a floor above the dance floor, the seated area curves a half circle around the edge of the room, allowing those who've forgotten their dancing shoes to sit and watch the acts in comfort. This division of space also has the effect of giving the dance floor a real mosh pit effect due to its lower, overlooked location which pretty much encourages people to go a little crazy- as my bottom lip will confirm (always syncronize your pogoing with the person in front if you want to avoid the blood shed). read more

The Ritz. This is a hard to explain. I really want to give this venue the good slagging off it fully deserves for all the horrendous nights out I've had there. But I have now been to two amazing gigs there...hmmmm. The Ritz is famous for it's Love Train night on a Wednesday, if you like tacky stuff, you are never ever going to be happier than you would be here. Packed full of people who will not let the 70s die, crowds fight each other in an attempt to get on stage alongside Brutus Gold and his dancers. You wouldn't believe how popular this night once was, when I was younger I used to love it, I am very ashamed of those days now. It is widely considered one of the worst nights in town. However, as mentioned in the other Yelp reviews, it is an incredible gig venue. I've been to both a matinee performance there (The Klaxons) and an evening gig there (The Cribs) and they were both not only well organised, they were just amazing. The security was great, the bar situation is good because you've got two reasonable sized bars which are well staffed and stocked, the venue is just plain perfectly set out so it's an enjoyable experience for everyone...it's just ace. Definitely one of my favourite venues to watch a band. Can't wait until February when I go to see Sunshine Underground there! read more

It is my ambition to see a gig at the Ritz. At the moment the most appealing option seems to be The Fillers & Kings_ov_Leon, but I'm not too keen on tribute bands after seeing the Red Hot Silly Feckers. It would be awesome to see more live bands playing there. Judging by all of the reviews so far, it wouldn't be a bad move to replace the 'Love Train' night with a live band night. Thankfully I have never been to Love Train, but I have been to the Monday rock night on several occasions. The music is similar to that in Jilly's and Rock Kitchen, but I actually prefer the atmosphere at this venue which has always managed to draw a large number of rockers for a Monday night. I've actually seen more people here on a Monday than at Jilly's on a Saturday. The drinks are cheap, the music is good, there are plenty of seats for mosh-breaks and most importantly of all the dance floor is bouncy! How? I don't know, but it is certainly an interesting and unique selling point of this venue. read more

The Ritz, a fancy hotel in das capital but in the Northern capital what does the Ritz conjure up? Looking at it, it's Vegas or Blackpool with the theatre lights blinding out at you. Walking along Whitworth Street West, you're bound to get a shocking surprise, as hoards of gig goers, tour buses and keen clubbers parade the streets. Brutus Gold's Love Train, a humble dose of 70s is long the favourite of Manchester's wig bearing crowd. With double vodkas and "red bulls" at £2.50, the 70s take on a whole new meaning. Other club nights are held here, but Brutus' stands out by far. Other than that, The Ritz houses a lot of really good gigs, which to me is a feat working alongside club nights like "Dirty Stop out." The Foals and Delphic are the latest lines up to brace the stage. Interesting mix here. The Ritz continues to be a success. read more

The Ritz is one of Manchester's premier nightclubs. And with good reason - it's not many places nowadays that have their very own 'sprung' dancefloor! And whilst it may look slightly dilapidated from the outside, when you walk through its doors and look closely at its various intricate features, you can't help but fall ever so slightly for the its aged and faded glamour. This is - of course - if you're not too busy drinking lots of cheap booze and having a grand old time. The Ritz is full of memories for me, being the place where I - and many other young Mancunian reprobates - would flock to on a Monday night to dance to ear bleeding tunes and snog anything that moved. You'd often find masses of teenagers having heart to hearts in the corridors, girls and boys doing each other's make-up in the toilets, people passing out in cupboards and lots and LOTS of interesting dancing. The Ritz is also home to the iconic 'Love Train' night on Thursdays - where masses of people dress up in comedy afros and flared trousers and dance around to 1970s disco. It's a great night to go to if you want to have a silly night out, and don't want to take things too seriously. Recently, the Ritz has started hosting more and more gigs, and is arguably becoming one of the Manchester's premier live music venues. It's a pretty sizeable place - particularly when you compare it to somewhere like The Roadhouse - yet it still manages to have a lovely intimate atmosphere (as well as some cracking acoustics). I particularly like watching acts from the balcony, preferably with a pint in hand. It certainly knocks the socks off some other Mancunian venues! read more

The Ritz is located just of Oxford road and is a very popular venue in Manchester. I went here with some friend when they were featuring a night called Federation. I have never been to the Ritz before so I was expecting lavish décor and surroundings. Perhaps in it day back in the 1960's this was the case but it seemed a little outdated to me. Fortunately the décor did not take away for what a great night out it was. If you have even been to a Federation you will know that the music is dance and trance with a lively atmosphere that runs on well past the early hours of the morning. To be honest I would recommend having give a few drinks before you go as they are quite expensive, although they do offer a wide rage of all drinks. Then it is Federation I would strongly recommend getting a ticked, they are normally held on the prior to bank holiday and generally cost about £15-£20 a ticket, the cost is well worth it I would definitely go to another one. read more

Ah, the Ritz. When I was student, I liked going to their legendary alternative night on a Monday, so I could bounce about on the amazing sprung dancefloor. They played loads of rock, punk and metal a far cry from Brutus Gold's Love Train on a Thursday! And when I wasn't dancing, I liked soaking up the cheap booze and hanging around with friends in the maze-like corridors. Sadly, though, I'm a grown-up with a 9 to 5 job now, which makes going out on a Monday night pretty tough. So these days, my trips to the Ritz tend to be for gigs. Over the last couple of years, the venue has been used more and more for live music, and I'm glad! It's a fantastic place to watch bands. Not least because the venue has a beauty that I never really noticed as a drunken 18-year-old. It's actually a lovely old ballroom that dates back to the 1920s, which makes even the noisiest gigs feel more like a 'concert'. At least, they do to me! Although the Ritz is a pretty sizeable venue in comparison to the Night and Day et al, watching a band here still feels very intimate. You can watch from downstairs or up on the balcony, which offers a really great view. There are lots of sofas up there, too, which are perfect if the support band isn't your cup of tea! read more

I've only been there once and it wasn't for a party, but for a gig. This is quite a significant venue historically, it's where the Smiths actually played their first ever gig. But apart from that, it's an awesome venue anyway - it's the first time I've been to a venue with a spring set dancefloor and it's an awesome thing! When people were jumping up and down during the gig you could feel the whole floor move in unison even if you're not part of the jumping. Quite an amazing thing that adds a lot to the atmosphere. :) The sound was good, the prices were fair, the venue itself is perfect - the only reason I am only giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that unfortunately it's one of these places with "no good cameras" policy. When will they get with the times? it doesn't make sense not to allow people to quietly take photos with good cameras, but allow all the annoying flashes produced from the cheap ones. read more

Aaah. The Grand Ol' Dame of Manchester's gig circuit. Whilst many venues trade on being perfectly square or pointlessly glass-fronted in an attempt to seem modern, The Ritz is a lovely old building that reeks of heritage when you bob in. From the wonderfully tacky neon ceiling and the sprung dancefloor (great for jumping up and down at a gig, actually designed for ballroom dancers), The Ritz is always a joy to visit. Going to the Ritz feels like hanging out with Diana Dors and a bunch of ageing thesps. What is also great about the place is that it isn't just a bit oblong room to listen to music in. You can have a wander around the corridors and up to the balcony and general get lost and chinwag to complete strangers. As a gig venue, it is really wonderful and charming. However, the club nights might not be to everyone's taste. For example, there's 'Love Train' (which seems to have been running since Moses was in 6th form) which is a night of silly wig and men in hired acrylic loons dancing like Disco Stu to Boney M. It depends entirely on your tastes as to whether you find that idea fun or hellish. There's also a big student night that is very popular and sometimes, if you're walking by at a certain hour, you'll see exhausted, sweaty youths bend S shaped on the floor covered head-to-toe in lovebites and Jagerbombs. They're always very friendly when you step over their impossibly thin little legs that have been slotted into their testicle crushing jeans. All in all though, The Ritz is ace and long may we cherish her. read more

Went here yesterday for my 18th birthday, I'd never been to a Manchester club before and had only heard of The Ritz the night I went so I didn't know what to expect. Finding the club was relatively easy, it had a sign like an old theatre sign with flashing lightbulbs as I guess it used to be a theatre. The bouncers were nice, he even wished me happy birthday and had no trouble with the dress code (I had flat shoes on an my mate said i might not get in without a heel). I signed up for a guestlist before I went which gets you in for £4 which was nice. I got inside and it was a Saturday which meant Vodka Nationale Student Night. In the main room was a dancefloor with UV lights, disco balls, inflatables, a DJ and even a bouncy castle! There was the main room and upstairs where another bar was situated and a vodka-chocolate fountain and the floor overlooked the dancefloor below. The decoration was a bit dated and the furniture had seen better days but thats what you expect with use by students. The bar was relatively cheap and the longest I had to wait to be served was 5 minutes, on a saturday night! The DJ did regular competitions to win champagne such as striptease and lapdances but thats what students do so not recommended is embarrassed easily. The DJ played a selection of songs ranging from hip-hop, indie, dance, rock and the whole club was singing barbie girl and c'est la vie at the end of the night. Overall brillaint night, taxis were easy to get hold of, the staff were friendly, it wasn't too overcrowded for a saturday night but the dancefloor could get a bit dangerous with people dropping drinks and bottles on the floor but there were always staff picking them up. A guy even got too drunk and started argueing on the dancefloor but the bouncers soon took care of him easily and quietly without disturbing the rest of the night. So a great, cheap night out, I only ended up spending a tenner! read more

Altough if/once you get in to the nightclub carnage comes thick and fast. It is a bit old school inside, with it not being the cleaniest or that well set out, but if your not looking for a classy night out, more on the trashy side, it could be the ticket for you. Set just off Oxford Road, it is in the heart of the city. They usually have drinks promos on during the week. Brutus Love Train during the week, is a must see for students as it really is a good night with the chance to get on the stage with the dancers! read more

A manchester long time institution many bands played here ive seen hawkwind doves elbow cahrlatans pj harvey and more here and too most folk over 30 its preferred as a gig venue. however i went in my youth and loved it and its ultimatley a copping off club. ive been thrown out twice once as accidentilly drooped my pint off balcony (bouncers very angry) and once a ticket disagreement but i still like the old place. enjoy as maybe one day itll go to stick in another box of flats like they did to the flippin hacienda read more

Ahh, had a cracking night in there.. Very retro, which most people would find tacky as a 19 year old lad born in the nineties I find it very fascinating! I used to go to the ritz every monday for the student rock night, and it used to be rammed and have drink promotions. It's changed a lot since then- they no longer open the upstairs seating area, there are no drinks promotions and there is about 1/10 as many people there, there are other nights on at the ritz, grab a granny, soul train.Close to Oxford rd train station, easy to get a cab at the end of the night and near locos take away! read more

I would 100% recommend the Ritz for its famous Love Train 70's night on a Wednesday - good wholehearted cheesy fun! Fantastic disco music and some young funky 70's dancers complete with huge wigs, sunglasses platforms and flareswhether you're old enough to remember the 70's or not, you'll have a fab time at Love Train! The perfect girly night out, you're guaranteed to have a good boogie and a brilliant laugh! It's also very centrally located, just turn right off Oxford Road by Sainsburys and the Palace Theatre - very close to all the main bus routes and there's also a licenced taxi rank right outside so you can get home easily and safely. Cheap drinks promotions and a party atmosphere all serve to make this one of the best nights out in Manchester! read more

I much prefer this venue for live music and gigs as opposed the the alcohol drug fuelled nights they have been doing recently on a friday and saturday! Although the 70's love train was good! The dancefloor is bouncy and the venue is stunning! read more

came here to see the go team, my fave band and although drinks were totally overprices the venue itsself was perfect. i have been here on a club night and it is so big and spacious, and i can imagine some brilliant dancing going on here when it was used as a ballroom. have not yet been to the love train on a wed but i can only speak of priases from what i have heard read more

A pretty good club, that is quite lively inside. The dancefloor seems to bounce or move slightly too.even when you're not that drunk!

To me it certainly doesn't live up to its name. It is set in a grand old building and was probably very stylish back in its day however today the interior is pretty grotty. The Ritz attracts a mixed clientele of students and devoted locals. The Love Train is a particular favourite with students who pile in for some cheesy 70s disco classics. I have only ever been to Ritz night club once on a Saturday night. The night was called I love sex and cost £6 to get in. I thought that this was quite expensive and definitely don't want to go back anytime soon. The music was R'n'B which I don't really like. During the night the music was stopped for a lap dance competition during which loads of people went outside, and soon after my friends and I left. It may be better on other nights such as Wednesdays but I would not recommend going on a Saturday. read more

what a god awful place, I nearly died of heat exhaustion the beer was extortionate and being in a wheelchair I was stuffed into a corner at the side of the stage where the sound was atrocious and exit was across a packed room I stood no chance of getting too. When I wrote a letter of complaint to them they as good as told me if I didn't like it go elsewhere, charming!. If tacky is what you are looking for, this is the place. Having grown up in Manchester The Ritz has kind of an historic place in the Manchester nightlife. Unfortunately, it doesnt seem to have changed and still looks like it is stuck in the 80s. Cheesy is not the word. Fun for stag or hen nights, but watch your feet dont stick to the 'washed once' floor. If your idea of a night out is cheap and cheerful, lacking taste and stlyle, then the Ritz is the place for you. The ritz my seem slightly run down from the outside however once in the lively atmosphere draws you in to the party spirit. There are always offers on drinks and wednesday night is poarticulary goo being LOVE TRAin. 70s night! read more

Hit and miss for me, 50% of the time it is good and the other 50% it is awful. I suppose that you must really do your research about nights at this location. Mostly Ritz is good on a saturday though. read more
