Writing this review for Sushi Taxi I feel I must be nice (not too mean) on a first review for an…read moreestablishment. I have wanted to try this place out while living nearby so I took the dive! Interesting discovery while entering. I look behind the sushi bar and it was 2 younger Quebecois girls rolling the sushi! I always get a chuckle out of this as any sushi restaurant in Toronto, Vancouver, Chicago, New York or LA you would never see this! Cue to the decorations which have a nice warm touch with softer lighting and interesting comfortable feel decor. Looking at their menu and website this sushi taxi.net seems to be a chain. Usually I try to order 3 tools as 18 - 24 pieces is usually what I look for to eat for dinner. So I ordered the 911, Nimbus & Alaska. When it came out I saw 12 rolls on a plate. I was somewhat surprised but not shocked. What they do is make three rolls then cut them in half and what you get is 4 pieces per roll. I tend to think this is a rip off but I have to remember I'm in Quebec and not Vancouver! Quality and taste was on the borderline side of okay for me. Let me preface I've had some exquisite sushi in many places ex. Nobu (even in Japan) but need to temper my expectations as Quebec sushi is no where near traditional nor typical. Quebec sushi tends to usually have sweeter ingredients and stuff like fruit inside mixed with shrimp or crunchy bits. Traditional sushi is all about rice wine vinegar tasting tart rice with fresh succulent raw pieces! I have yet to find fresh Toro (fatty tuna belly) or Uni (sea urchin) in Quebec. Now comes to the price. For the 12 pieces it was $30 (before tax)!!! This is where I have issue! Sure the rolls were better quality than Sushi Shop (Yuck) or Yuzu (slightly more palatable but still low quality). I then have to remind myself I'm in Quebec! You may consider it okay but I don't think I will be back! I'll hopefully move on to find something cheaper and tastier! My real review in a a normal mood would be 2/5. Service was good and it's not their fault it's mine because I'm sushi spoiled!

Good for a buffet, when you compare it to others; but don't expect greatness. Buffet des Continents…read moreis ideal for families or groups who wishes to have a access to large quantity of food for a budget price. The food itself is not fantastic and the large amount of seats and customers makes the place loud and hard to navigate. However, it does what it promises, tons of different cuisine under a same room for a small price. The food is often soggy, salty and sometimes overcooked, the drinks are nothing to rave about and the dessert station is often a mess. You get what you pay for. Compared to other restaurant of the same type, Buffet des continents is somewhat at the top, with a large number of staff, multiple counters where they serve pasta, pizza, sushi and breakfast food, lots of activities for children (face paint) and special events (ex. Mexican fiesta = nacho table). Perfect for kids and people not too picky about food and just want eat a lot. Otherwise pick another restaurant.

I haven't been to this chain in nearly a decade and my visit was to the one in Trois-Rivieres... so I kind-of knew what to expect but this place was PURE MADNESS. But over what??? I REALLY don't get it. The food is buffet style. The name fits. If you've been to something like "Le Mandarin" or "Fu Lam" you've already been here. There's a bigger selection of course but more things I wouldn't touch. Buffet style sushi? No thanks. Under-cooked roast beef? Not going to play the gastro lotto tonight. Canteen-style poutine? Is this really a thing? Am I some kind of savage? I ended up trying about 20 plates.... mostly taking a bite here and there after a decent-sized first plate. Most of the things I tried came well short of my expectation. Many plates were bland and were clearly prepped in huge batches to slop out to the massages elbowing each other for the scraps. Some sweet dishes weren't sweet but salty? Salty is a key thing. I was parched after I left. The experience, at least for me was one I don't plan to repeat any time soon. The pricing was $23 per person to which I feel is robbery. A few dollars more and I could have eaten at a number of other AYCE restos with considerably better food and without the busy hustling and bustling. The service? Overwhelmed and after quickly inquiring if I'd be ordering any extras (soda/beer) to which I said no became quite disinterested in our table. I had to remind her the 3rd time she passed by to refill our glasses. She was FAR more focused on letting us know, every 15 minutes like clock-work (with no water pitcher in hand), we had to leave by 7 PM. Not her fault of course but this place runs their clients on the clock and more clients sitting down and paying is more important than delivering a proper eating experience. Don't blame them. There were well over 100 people waiting for a table when I left. What is going on....... Hard pass going forward for me for this chain.
