Susanna (correct name hopefully), was amazing at helping me complete some minor yet major standard checks on a 2003 Saturn that was given to me. One dashboard light was on noting needing rear lightbulb. After replacing the bulb herself, she checked my coolant (needed refill), battery (good to go), oil (full and clean) and kicked the tires and said "Good to Go Sir, what else can I help you with." Bad store experience. I could count on one hand the number of times I have complained about a store experience. I was met by employee Glen who was not like the store experience I usually get from O'Reilly staff. He gave the perception I was bothering him by asking the difference between two items to decide which to buy. Additionally, he wore his mask around his chin, not his mouth. read more

I had a very unpleasant customer-service experience at the 10409 Aurora Ave N O'Reilly Auto Parts today, and decided to try my luck a few minutes north at the 14320 Aurora Ave N location instead. I'm so glad I did! The folks working at the 14320 location at 3PM today were incredibly kind and helpful. They earned my business this afternoon and will be getting all of my and my family's business moving forward. When I told them about my experience at the 10409 location, they were disappointed but not surprised. Apparently they've been getting a lot of business like mine lately, with folks coming to their location from that other store in hopes of a better customer service experience. Over the years, customer service at this location has been improving. You can still find things like anti-freeze, brake pads, and motor oil. Car parts are still readily available and if not, they can order it for you or coordinate with another location in an attempt to get what you need that day. They used to have more "fluffy" items - by that I mean things like air fresheners, sun shades, and car accessories. They still have some of that but the center aisle use to be full of them and it seems that they've taken their inventory down a bit. As I said, I feel the customer service has improved over the years. It used to be pretty bad. The store, I think, is a little small for a parts store. As some have said, the parking lot out front is precariously dangerous. You can park on both side of the building and they also have parking in the back. You can also bring your battery or alternator in for testing as well as dispose of certain fluids (call to check first). read more

I came in not long ago to barrow the OBDII scanner. I was helped by this really nice younger gentleman that went above and beyond in terms of helping me. Came back in today and was helped by an older gentleman named Glen. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Not only did he F-Bomb whoever he put on hold infront of me (which doesn't bother me, I just thought it lacked professionalism), but he also went on to tell me my temp license is not enough which I understand but it was addressed so disrespectfully that it really tested my patience. Finally get the scanner by giving my phone and all of a sudden I get lectured on how to use the scanner as if I've never used it before. If I ever come back it's definitely not gonna be when he is working. read more

Each asked me how they could help me find what I needed and then ended up having a solid conversation with one of the workers about what I was needing and doing with the somewhat strange assortment of items I was buying. I'm not the typical customer. So take my review with a big ol grain o salt. I'm still a loyal customer, but it's mostly because I'm locked in and I've definitely seen better. Judging the store itself, O'Reilly's stores in WA in general are crappier than most other chains in terms of cleanliness, layout, and "family friendliness." Advance Auto Parts (which don't exist here), O'Reilly's in OH, and AutoZone are all better in this regard. If you're looking for "family friendly" I think the O'Reilly's in the U-district is a bit better in this regard. It's about the same as the ones in Ballard and Bellevue. Of the O'Reilly's in the area, this one is definitely the most laid back. On pricing, O'Reilly's seems to be competitive on car parts. I'm talking about parts like brake calipers and the line, with many of the parts available under lifetime warranty, which is a fantastic deal (more on this below). For consumables like oil filters, the mark those items up a bit more, so it's best to get those when they're on sale. Everything below this line deals with working with O'Reilly's long term with regard to warranties. --------------------------------------------- I've done a lot of work on cars and I've accumulated lifetime warranties on huge chunks of my car. Most of that work was done in Ohio where me and my car come from. On the upside: O'Reilly's is now huge. You probably already know that there's basically one of these every half mile in some neighborhoods, but O'Reilly's is also present in many other places. If you're looking for a place that will provide you with warranty coverage virtually anywhere in the US, this is the place (the O'Reilly's chain, that is). Somehow I managed to need a warranty replacement in Death Valley/Central Valley CA, so I ended up at an AutoZone for that one. On the downside: O'Reilly's is a downgrade from Schucks, which is a downgrade from Murray's (which was acquired by Schucks before it was acquired by O'Reilly's). Yes, I'm still bitter about this, but not as bitter as the employees. Both the employees here in WA and those in OH seem pretty unhappy with the change. They've somehow managed to also retain most of these bitter employees. On the upside... that means that they'll be more likely to side with you when it comes to honoring your request vs. dicking over the company. On the other hand, this shouldn't have to happen.... but the O'Reilly's computer system doesn't work with the old Schucks system which doesn't work with the Murray's system. This means they can't look up anything to verify you really have a warranty. They can't even see if the parts they have in stock are the same part that you got the warranty for. Because of this mess, they have no way of figuring out what they should give you with regard to a warranty replacement and it's up to the staff and you to work it out. I'm pretty sure you can exchange any part for free if you're willing to come up with the right foreign (i.e. Murray's) warranty documentation and stick with your story. Last note: This O'Reilly's is pretty close to the King County Hazardous Waste Disposal site on Aurora. O'Reilly's only takes your used oil, but the KC site also takes anti-freeze and a bunch of other stuff. Convenient! read more

Go to Kenmore or Mountlake Terrace O'Reilly even if it's a further drive, the older man and the guy in his late 20's with messed up teeth are so rude and obnoxious that your experience with just buying a few things that barely costs $10 will have you more irritated then having your car break down. At my main store in Kenmore I have never had a bad experience after going there 2-3 times a week for the last year! read more

Simply don't go here. The employees could care less about you, and are really miserable. I have NO idea why - in these difficult times - the worst employees seem to still have service jobs. You'd think a business would want those with the most energy and enthusiasm to run these places. I would fire everyone and start with fresh employees. I don't want to be snarky, but you have to be presentable to work a front desk. If you have any severe issues, it's better to be in a warehouse or somewhere less exposed. The person who works here who has a really bad dental issue is not helping themselves by being corrosive and unkempt. And while I empathize, if I were the owner or executive manager of O'Reilly's, I would be ashamed that my own employees have zero or worthless dental/medical care - because that is what I read from this situation and it makes me even less apt to frequent these stores. The place is filthy - and we had the unfortunate pleasure of using the restroom (what can you do with a preschooler?) Again, I would understand if they actually fixed cars here, but they don't. In fact, the 3 employees who were working were loathe to leave the support of the front counter, actually leaning on it for dear life. You can feel the life force being sucked out of you when you are in this place. The selection (I looked for several items) was lame. When I asked about a certain product, the answer was "We used to have that I think". And scene. I mean - does ANYONE in WA state know what the proper answer to that is??? Here, I'll help: "I'm so sorry we don't carry that any longer, but let me double-check our catalog." "Let me find out the product name for you." "Let's see if we have that online.:" "Let me call another location to see if they have that or something similar to it." "Here is another product that can sub for that one." "Here is an idea how you can fix that (recommend an auto shop/other parts store/online store/collision center/pull-a-part location, etc.) Any ONE of the above would suffice. Instead, as expected at this point, I get a blank stare. While my preschooler fussed, the guys made zero attempt to assist me so my trip could be more efficient. I don't expect every employee on earth to notice my kid, but it really, really helps to be nice to the moms with kids - we usually run the household budgets and even if you think we don't know much about cars, you could be sadly mistaken. For example, I used to train with a mechanic in my youth, and my family did a lot of our repairs ourselves. I've read many Chilton's manuals for the cars I've owned, and I'm fairly well-versed. Try to approach a customer as though they DO know something. Especially the women - we often are nicer than what we are thinking inside. Finally - when I had trouble running my creditcard through, and insisted it should work, the a-hole employee basically laughed at me. I pushed him to run it manually, and it did work, as I knew it would. Imagine - laughing at me for trying to FREAKING PAY FOR SOME AUTO PARTS. What a douche. And because of this terrible (and quite fruitless, by the way) encounter, I will NEVER set foot in ANY O'Reilly's Auto Parts store willingly ever again. I mean this. Husband and I came here on a whim to get things for a home oil change for the motorcycle. Although they had most of the things that we needed, the service was absolutely atrocious. There were 2 men working behind the counter that just complained and whined, like two 13 year old girls, about another (not present) employee the entire time. Wah wah wah. I don't care about your bitter issues--you can talk about it all you want. However, if we have to spend nearly 30 minutes looking for things in your store because you can't spend 2 minutes out of your apparently VERY serious b!tchfest...you will not be getting our patronage in the future. Pointing to an aisle and saying, "There you go..." is not considered assistance in my books. ugh. avoid this place. read more

I own a Saab, and I'm female which combined meant I didn't know anything, I guess. Oh, and I accidentally purchased the right headlight type for the wrong light I was trying to replace myself. When I went back in to make the return, Gregory, whom I assume was the manager (he has grey hair and a beard and about four teeth and a look on his face like he smelled something rotten) made me feel like a moron. I paid cash, which means I should get cash. Instead I got hassled and he "had to" ask for my phone number and address because "corporate says so" which, I know from working in retail is bullshit, especially if the customer refuses like I did. The guy behind me agreed that it's a stupid policy and after some witty but uncomfortable banter I finally got my cash back. F you Gregory, and your four teeth for making me feel dumb while trying to replace a headlight that the owner's manual tells me to go to the dealer for. I had zero problems during my visit. Friendly enough service when we stopped in for wiper blades. They will install them for free but it was raining, so we chose to take the blades home. By the way, the signs are clear: do not do car repairs in the lot, they will ask you to leave. One more thing, take care when pulling out of their lot, you back out dangerously close to the bus/turn only lane. read more

On the plus side: they had snow chains late in the season, which at a glance don't appear to be too badly overpriced compared to online. On the down side: I walked away almost feeling like I'd been scammed due purely to the demeanor of the staff. Two guys were working, a younger and an older. The young guy was helping me, and I asked for bungee cords to go with the chains (I'd been advised this by a 3rd party, never used them myself). He said "sure", and got a pair. As he rang me up, the older guy who'd been busy with another customer earlier said "wait, he really doesn't need those, this chain is plenty tight on its own". Young guy waves him off, and proceeds with the sale while the old guy just shakes his head. Whatever, $8, so it's fine. Then he rings up the bungee cords twice, and only admits to it when he's already run my card (I didn't get an itemized list until that point). I show him the double charge, and he's like "well, I already rang it up... want me to give you another one?" I had to insist a couple times before he would give me a refund, and at that point he gave me some BS about needing my name and address for the refund. Even if that is the company policy for regular returns, it's ridiculous in cases where the "return" is just correcting employee error at the register. All of this would have been fine if he seemed apologetic about it, but he was eerily calm throughout, almost as if this was a regular thing and I just happened to call him on it. I don't know if that's the case, but I'm not surprised to find a number of other negative reviews on Yelp about the customer service here. Poor customer service all around, and a really unpleasant feeling about the whole thing. (To be clear: I don't THINK I was actually ripped off, but the whole thing was really strange, and much worse than my experience at basically any other store ever) read more

Avoid these guys like the plague. A while back I purchased several hundred dollars in parts to fix up my Subaru, however when I stopped by today to exchange a $6.00 item that wasn't working properly I was questioned relentlessly by the Russian guy crewcut & made to feel like I was trying to pull something over on him. The product was clearly not working as it should, then informed that he couldn't process the exchange without my receipt. I realize I didn't have a receipt, though I didn't need to be made to feel like a bad person for requesting an exchange for one of their products. Having purchased thousands of dollars from Schucks & now O'Reilly over the course of my life I will be looking for a new auto parts store for all future purchases & encourage you to do the same. FYI: the grey bearded guy, who I think is the GM, was standing nearby 'helping' another customer with a scowl on his face the whole time. I've been to this location before and the younger guys that worked where okay with customer service. I had called on a Friday talk to a younger guy who seemed to know what he was talking about , but told me that all "O'Rilelly auto stores are link together to see what you have purchased." I said ok got my quote and hung up. Sunday comes around to get my parts I called again and talked to a younger guy who seemed like he has customer service edicate. He told me about a warranty part which involved a purchase at a different location, he couldn't help me so got a different younger guy by the name of George. George was trying to go through the different parts , warranty and prices again, I said I'm looking to get my part it was the one with the warranty but he couldn't look it up because gorge told me " that I would have to go to the different location because the stores were not linked together and he couldn't look it up." Then he proceeded to say " do ya know what I'm saying " in a very unprofessional voice which disturbed me and I got off the phone. I will never shop again at O'reillys aging due to the ignorant people who don't have customer service edicate nor even a talking edicate we live in America . Minimum wage people complain about the money they make, freaking learn how to speak or take some customer service classes and while your at it a proper English talking class. I hope you consider not shopping there, their are parts stores near this location you can go to like Auto zone.. read more
