As many good meals as we have had on this trip, and we had some good ones, this one stands out. Establishment appearance: good. Unassuming exterior but pleasant and comfortable on the inside. Service: excellent. From greeting to farewell,  the staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome, and satisfied. Quality of ingredients: couldn't be better. Most still alive when you walk in the door. The waiter proudly shows some of them for your approval before they are cooked. We decided on the "Mariscada Especial" a large seafood platter for 2. A large (approx 32" long) platter layered with every shellfish you can think of, and some you may never have seen before; they even threw in some "percebes" (barnacles) a small crustacean mostly found in northern Spain and part of France and considered a delicacy, with a price to match it's reputation. Before the meal arrived, we ordered a local beer. A large basket of bread was delivered with the customary olive oil and vinegar, and a dish with  cheese, sliced toasted bread and the freshest olives I have ever tasted. We had some local wine with the food, and I'm unashamed to admit that as large as it was,  we finished our meal in its entirety. Everywhere you walk in Santiago de Compostela almond cookies or cake is offered; so we tried the almond cake for dessert and even though I had it before, it didn't disappoint. But the dinner wasn't over yet; when I requested the bill, the waiter said that we couldn't leave without trying one of the liquors they use to celebrate a special occasion. On the house, of course. He returned with 2 shot glasses and 2 bottles of liquor: one sweet and creamy, the other more tart and stronger. In my mind, we were getting a shot of our choice and then be in our way, but, after explaining the difference between the two, he said: "try them both and enjoy". He left the table and didn't return until several shots later when I hailed him back for the bill again. The next time I find myself in the area, I know where I will go for dinner, and maybe you should give them a try as well; there is a good chance you will be as satisfied as I was.

We both chose the White Asparagus Soup which was delicious, then Stan had Lamb and I had the Grilled Fish Dish, and for Dessert we both had the Crepes with Orange Sauce. The setting was private as we were the only guests at the Dining area and the service was excellent!! Enjoyed a tasty Coffee Contardo at the end of our fabulous traditional Spanish Meal. The Fixed Menu Lunch is 20 Euros per person, well worth it! Mui Bien!!

She ordered the vegetable curry and I ordered the tahini stir fry. So many appetizing items on their menu! Hummus, baba ganoush, cheese plate... Our server (the owner?) was SO attentive, kind and friendly. He took such great care of us! Fun fact: on certain weekdays they open at 6pm, so it's earlier than most Spanish restaurants and works perfectly so you can eat before the 7:30pm mass. They even saw us waiting outside and let us in 20 min early! I would highly recommend this place to any hungry, health-minded pilgrims along their journey. In fact, I might just go back for Round Two!

It's hard to make a choice but I'm extremely glad we ended up picking this place. For our first Galacian meal, expectations were high. We only had a few things... octopus, roasted padrón peppers, and a salad... and EVERYTHING was amazing. The simplest thing was so good, I couldn't believe it... even the bread hat came with the meal! We had tried a similar octopus dish in Madrid and was extremely disappointed by it. The Galician version however was spot on. Great texture, and the right spices. The mixed salad was also very unique. It came with fat slices of juicy tomatoes, onions, olives, tuna and melon, all topped with a balsamic vinaigrette. In another world, there's no way all those things would go together well in a salad. But here, they did. If you want the good Galician food, come here.

The owner, Anxel, is extremely friendly, always speaks Galician, serves fast and remembers what each person likes. There is a fairly good variety of offerings on the menu, well-prepared with Galician style. Be prepared to go away stuffed! Both food and conversation are worth the visit to this off-the-beaten-path location. On warm days, you can sit outside - there is a nice green view off to the left. Cold white wine served in frosted pitchers, lots of entrantes and good fish (but you can order other dishes, of course) and huge salads (my favorite) with surprising ingredients at times.

After our long drive up from Portugal's Douro Valley and confusing directions on how to get to the Parador, it was great to sit down for a relaxing lunch, in a welcoming atmosphere, and good service. We opted for a series of Galician appetizers and enjoyed everything. And for a Hotel restaurant and a steep exchange rate, prices were not out of line.

It seems the ownership may have changed, but we still get good servings and the food is very typically Galician. That means seafood (the salpicón is usually good and abundant), caldo galego (Galician broth), good-sized salads, and a variety of dishes like merluza (hake). Dessert may include flan and thin apple pie. The atmosphere is rather coastal - a large room with lots of small tables, painted a cheery yellow. Open sink for handwashing is an older tradition, also found in Portugal. A bar in the front and somewhat away from the wating area helps keep smokers in that area. Noia is a town worth visiting and this is a safe bet for eating. A lot of visitors find their way here, but locals also stop by, judging from the times we've been. Definitely worth going and not far from the center of town, on foot.
