We had olives and bread to start for appetizers. For the main courses, I can't say what they were in Portuguese, but one was the pork and the other was the Bacalhau à Brás. Both were truly amazing. We finished with an egg-custard type dessert, again, not sure on the name. If you stumble across this little gem, ask the owner to just take care of you and you will not be disappointed. A very full and complete meal for two, and it certainly didn't break the bank.

We ordered the mushrooms, and garlic shrimp for starters (must have bread to soak up the rich drippings. The dessert of the day which was a poached pear and vanilla ice cream was light and a nice finish. If you are looking for exquisite dining in a cozy and welcoming setting (12 tables) come and eat at this establishment which is ran by a mother (Chef) & son (Host & Server) team. I'd also recommend making a reservation on their website.

The first night we tried to go there for dinner, but despite an empty room we were told that it's fully booked. The next day, with some time to kill, we tried to go there to get some wine. We didn't see a tasting flight on the menu, and the glass prices are definitely on the high end. That said, their wine is well known and highly rated, so tht may explain the price difference. The staff pretty much left us alone after bringing us the wine, so it wasn't quite the wine tasting experience that I expected. I am not familiar with their wine, it would be great if I could sample a few to see which I like but they clearly do not encourae sampling. They also made it clear that no food is served at the counter. I was hoping to enjoy some ham or appetizer with the wine, as they are quite high in acidity. Came here loooking for a wine tasting to learn more about their vineyard and local wines, but given the service and price I would be much better off just go to any restaurant.

We checked out a few places along this street and the picture menu sold us - it really helped us see what they had to offer. Also their prices were a bit cheaper than other spots nearby. We got a nice outside table and our drinks came quickly but then everything ground to a halt. There was one waiter for a dozen or more tables. We waited close to 45 minutes for our food. The omelets were good but the traditional "meal" sausage was not to my liking. I think it was not cured and thus it had a very mushy consistency that I found gross. The flavor was OK but it was just not my thing. That happens sometimes when you travel... Of course trying to get and pay the bill was another challenge. I wanted to write a review because even though this trip was 3 years ago, I will NEVER forget this place. It was one of the most memorable dining experiences I have had in all of Portugal. The best thing about Portuguese cuisine is the simplicity of the flavors. Salt and pepper gives food a nudge but what you are served, from the meat to the seafood to the veggies shine on their own. The food at Pateo is fresh and simple and clearly memorable! The Iberian Pork was to die for! Simply seasoned with fries and I washed it down with a Super Bock. The service was quick and outstanding. And we sat on the well shaded Patio. Just loved the entrance. It had its own alley way. The place is not huge but works with a mid sized party. Would have loved to dine there at night. I will always visit Evora for this restaurant. Will never forget my experience here. Can't wait to come back! Easy to get here from Lisbon.
