Creamy Lemon yogurt merengue and Nuts with custard pie

Jorge and assistant were amazing explaining the wonderful dishes and customer service. Had the Vegetable Soup, Lamb and Creamy Lemon yogurt pie. Superb food in quaint establishment near the Roman Ruins.

Gluten-free heaven!!! After being seated, the owner brought the menu board over to us and sat down at our table and explained each and every item. He emphasized the freshness of the food, with staff bringing out examples on cue to show us. It was impressive, because I have never been to a restaurant that took the effort to proudly display what fresh ingredients would be prepared for our meal. I chose the filet mignon, and my wife chose the mild vegetable curry. When she told the owner she was gluten intolerant, he said everything, with two exceptions, was prepared gluten-free. That was wonderful to hear because my wife had almost as many options as did I. We were served a shot-glass full of a pear purée that tasted like it had a touch of mint. It was a tasty way to stir our appetites! Next was a lentil soup, served in a wine glass. I could clearly taste the ingredients because it wasn't overwrought with salt. Next came the main courses. My filet mignon was cooked medium rare, covered with a reduction sauce, and surrounded by a variety of vegetables and roots - and a slice of quince! It was fun playing with this amazing combination of flavors. Again, there was no overuse of salt (probably none at all) because the veggies and roots carried all the flavor without needing salt. Pairing each bite of the filet with the varied items on my plate was a little slice of heaven. The curry was served with Basmati rice, and my wife ate every drop and grain! I guess it was pretty good. We had dessert as well: mango mousse and a walnut and caramel crisp (at least that's what I think it was.) We had coffees to accompany our desserts. I didn't lick the plate because there were too many people in the room, but a fellow diner caught be using my finger to wipe up and eat a little bit of the sauce from my plate and my wife's as well. The rave by reviews I read were not hyperbole. They were quite accurate. I asked the owner if I could move in with him.

I have only one word to describe this restaurant WOW!!! It was one of the most incredible experiences we had while visiting Portugal. The owner Chef George had us taste some of the most delicious dishes!! From the bee juice to the mushrooms with toasted goat cheese, shrimp in passion fruit cups and lamb shoulder that melted in your mouth. Pricing was very reasonable for this high quality farm to table organic food meal that will make you remember such a special Momento.

It's a small restaurant and reviews all said to have a reservation but we lucked out! We loved the set menu experience and especially enjoyed all the unique dishes prepared with local and seasonal ingredients! Each dish was explained in perfect English by our waitress too. The food was incredible, loved everything about this town and our unique and memorable lunch in Évora!

My companions were a bit dubious as we walked about 8 minutes to get there. We arrived for a late lunch and the waiter said that he could accommodate us only because he had some cancellations. He also said that there was no menu and we would be getting what was served. He also said that the ladies in our group would order the drinks and we would be paying. We doubled down. This is a quant family run restaurant. The chef is the son of the founder and the waiter is his son. They are lovely people with a great sense of humor. It's pointless for me to comment on specific dishes but there were maybe 16 plates. Pro Tip: No, they do not accommodate vegetarians. There was Black Pork(Jamon Iberico dummy) Beef, Veal. Crispy, braised, stewed.... There was a mystery Slider. When we thought they were done, they brought more plates. Oh, and There was a dessert plate with 7-8 Things on it. It was about 55 euro with drinks per person. One of my top 10 dining experiences ever!

I wanted to write a review because even though this trip was 3 years ago, I will NEVER forget this place. It was one of the most memorable dining experiences I have had in all of Portugal. The best thing about Portuguese cuisine is the simplicity of the flavors. Salt and pepper gives food a nudge but what you are served, from the meat to the seafood to the veggies shine on their own. The food at Pateo is fresh and simple and clearly memorable! The Iberian Pork was to die for! Simply seasoned with fries and I washed it down with a Super Bock. The service was quick and outstanding. And we sat on the well shaded Patio. Just loved the entrance. It had its own alley way. The place is not huge but works with a mid sized party. Would have loved to dine there at night. I will always visit Evora for this restaurant. Will never forget my experience here. Can't wait to come back! Easy to get here from Lisbon.

Yes, it is clear this is a spot for tourists, and because of that there are prices that are more in line with tourist prices - but this is an outdoor dining experience that is better than in most major cities i nthe United States. The service was good, the vibes were cool outdoor portugese dining on a patio type vibes, and the Iberian black pork was AMAZING. The chopped lamb pretty solid, and a couple drinks were nice, but not overwhelming. Good spot worth coming back to...not life changing , but not sure that's what you need in Evora.

It sits quietly in a small alley in Évora, easy to miss, especially on a cloudy, rainy December day like the one we visited. We arrived for a late lunch around 2 PM. A few things are important to know before you go. It is cash only. Reservations are absolutely required. Even at that hour, several people were turned away while we were there. The restaurant is run by just two people, and that deliberate pace defines the experience. From the moment we walked in, everything felt personal. The owner greeted us with a firm handshake and a warm welcome, immediately setting the tone for the meal. The menu is printed, but parts of it are handwritten, with certain items manually crossed out as dishes sell out. It is a small but telling detail that reflects how the restaurant operates. Only what can be cooked properly is offered, nothing more. What truly sets O Templo apart is the owner's engagement. He takes time to explain where the bread comes from, how the olives are prepared, and the origin of the olive oil. His passion is unmistakable and completely genuine. The food is cooked with care and intention. Honest, comforting, and deeply satisfying, every dish feels exactly as it should. This is not a restaurant chasing trends or volume. It is a restaurant rooted in pride and purpose. Restaurante O Templo is intimate, thoughtful, and memorable. If you find yourself in Évora and want an experience that feels truly personal, this is a place worth seeking out. Bring cash, make a reservation, and slow down once you arrive.

There are many options on the menu- but Vasco is more than happy to provide recommendations. It's clear he is very passionate about the food with many recipes passed down from his grandmother. I tried the traditional bacalao cod fish. This was a single portion and huge. House wine was delicious. Vasco was very friendly and despite being the only person serving - his wife cooks int he kitchen - service was attentive and on point. The menu is rather limited though, with 6 meat dishes and 2 fish ones for main entrees, and not much appetizer choices to speak of. A bit disppointed as some of the dishes we've already tried in the previous few days and would have preferred something new and different. I ordered the Alentejo pork and clam, as it's one of my fave and I look forward to trying it right in Alentejo. The preparation here is quite different from most others. Instead of cubed pork and potatoes, they use large chunks of pork with french fries. Meanwile, the clams are tiny in size with many empty shells. Their preparation doesn't allow for the ingredients to cook together for the synergy of flavors. The dinner my husband ordered was the fried pork with migas - bread crumbs with asparagus. It uses identical chunks of pork. Migas is vry traditional dish of the area, looks a little like mashed potato, and I suppose in the old days a great way to upcycle old bread into a delicious side. The version here has lots of garlic - whole cloves of them - in it so I did enjoy it a lot, just wih it weren't so filling. Overall flavor is not bad, glass of wine is 2.50 Euro.
