When you party with a Russian, you expect to drink, let go, and just have the most fun you can manage. This is exactly what I did for a friend's birthday party and I have to say that I haven't gone out and had a blast in a while. Not that I'm at all a recluse but lets just say, working in bars, promoting events, and running a club in my early to mid 20s has taken its toll and after a while, you tend to see the same faces, music, booze and music at just different venues...plus you more often than not end up with the same hangover. However, I tend to make exceptions especially when I haven't experienced it yet. O Bar was an exception. I've heard of it from several of my friends who always light up when they talk about it. I have friends from all walks of life and have always been open to new experiences so I knew nothing really surprises me in the gay or straight domains. Now, when my Russian friend celebrated her birthday here in Manila, there was only one place on her mind and it was O Bar. Hidden just behind the Home Depot of Ortigas, this palace of pizzazz is everything you would expect from a hetero-friendly, gay-infused cabaret scene. Drinks aren't ridiculously priced and the sound system is quite decent. The ambiance is wild, loud, fun, creative, and beautiful with pictures of drag queens, macho and sexy dancers on platforms, elevated couch areas with a view of the crowd, and a center stage where beautiful performers reign supreme! It was definitely an experience as far as my Vodka Cranberry and Patron XO-infused mind could fathom to remember. At 1:30 you are treated to intermitted live shows from true blue QUEENS who own the stage and the club is their kingdom. They frolic on stage and swim through the crowd with every sashay never missing a beat of the well-curated diva music. If you're looking for something different from the saturated clubs and bars of Manila, and you don't mind getting yourself into a bit of outrageous fun, then queue up and squeeze yourself into O! read more
