I was here for breakfast now for three times. And i have say: I really like it. The service is really nice and care about you. The food is made fresh (what takes about 10 minutes) and tastes very good. You definitively have to try the Tomato & Avocado toast with scrambled eggs for breakfast when you're there. :) You can sit outside, if you want. It's heated in the morning hours, so you won't freeze. And you can have coffee for take-away when you're in a hurry.

Looks good but wasn't cooked

Ordered the whiting fries and coleslaw. The whiting was very undercooked so didn't eat it. I paid $20 for fries .. Would have had a better meal at McDonald's. 2 stars because the staff were lovely and the service is great. Also didn't like the idea of the tails being left on my food.

Bubble and Squeak, with Eggs Benedict in the background.

Recently a friend suggested I try Oshin Japanese Restaurant for a good sit-down lunch (or dinner) and now, I would go no place else in the city. Hidden from the main thoroughfare, upstairs in Koala House on Adelaide Street, Oshin seems to have been "found out" by suits doing their business lunches, an indication of quick service and reliably good fare. Oshin is also an authentic-feeling place, with good ambiance (their Japanese waitresses are friendly and wear kimonos) and great value for money. There are so many delicious-looking things on the menu that it's hard to choose. I managed to settle on the Yakizakana (grilled mackerel steaks with rice and soy) and my friend had the Tensashi Lunch Box, which comes with an assortment of tempura, sashimi and salad. Both were filling, especially as all dishes come with a complimentary starter of good miso soup and an "amuse-bouche", a taste of something fresh and quirky. I've never been to Japan, but a friend of mine has and she gives Oshin 5 stars! Note: there are also free minties on the counter!

Coppa Spuntino - Cute outdoor/indoor restaurant

Located on Creek Street, Coppa is designed in the form of a long, narrow space with the bar down one side and seating down the other side. There is also seating along the bar and outside. On a passing glance it may appear as just a bar with its sleek black and white fitout and tiled floor, although one might notice the quaint, mosaic-tiled pizza oven on the rear wall, but Coppa is hiding a full food menu. The food menu caters to any occasion and consists of a range of small Italian share plates - spuntino, charcuterie, pizzas, cheeses, main dishes and desserts. Dishes of note include the burrata, octopus, truffled gnocchi and porchetta. On this visit I ordered the octopus, served with chorizo and potato in the form of a salad. The flavours of tender, well-cooked octopus combined well with the subtle spice and acidity of the chorizo and balanced out by the potato and leaves. A great starting dish and perfect for sharing with the octopus cut up into mouthful sized pieces. This was followed by the veal cotoletta with parmesan and rocket and a side of green beans with spinach and goats cheese. The herb crumbing of the cotoletta was perfect with the just the right amount of crunch and evenly wrapped around the tender veal cutlet. The parmesan-topped rocket salad was a nice touch on the side. The green beans were an excellent side dish with the slowly melting goats cheese adding some welcomed rich flavours. Dessert was an interesting dish, rosemary panna cotta with raspberries and sweet crumbs. Rosemary is a welcomed changed over the usual vanilla bean with its refreshing, light floral flavours. Service was great and was what was to be expected of a bar-style venue. Coppa Spuntino brings some good value, fine dining-quality dishes in a relaxing, casual, but still classy atmosphere to the inner city, mirroring what can be found at its sister restaurants.

I had the - Radicchio, Fennel, Witlof Salad - Sandcrab, Prawn, Lemon Butter, Chilli Linguini - Clams with Linguini - and The Tiramisu. Everything was made perfectly and delicious. Especially the Tiramisu. That was actually the best Tiramisu I've ever tasted! I will definitely be coming back often before I leave. And I highly recommend this place. I'm just happy this restaurant is walking distance from my hotel.

My fooding adventures have been on hiatus for quite a bit, and will be till the end of this year,…read morebut I decided to take a break from all the craziness to visit Jak+Hill. From others' photos, the food looked decent, so I chose this one place. I had high hopes, after seeing their breakfast options and fairy floss dessert, but alas, I was underwhelmed. The location and place itself is decently decorated and in the middle of Spring Hill, but it wasn't particularly eye-opening. The girls there were friendly, but a bit disorganized service-wise (throughout my entire meal). I ordered a coffee to start, and as expected, was just alright. For sustenance, I had the corn fritters with smoked salmon on the side, but I almost didn't finish the corn fritters! They were lukewarm, chewy, and tiny! There were two - and smaller than the size of my palm, with a bit of smoked salmon, a poached egg, and rocket with tomato relish (that just tasted like tomato sauce). The presentation and the service were alright, and their lunch options looked good by the way other customers were chowing down... but they really need to work on their breakfast if they're going to keep serving it all day!
