This inn had it's ups and downs. Unfortunately the downs are the most memorable.
First the good parts:
The service was super friendly, patient, professional, and kind. The rooms are fairly big. The ambience in the restaurant it very good, stylish with white table cloths and a nice discreet ambient music. It all brings up expectations I guess.
The not-so-good parts:
Rooms: the decor is outdated to put it mildly. Curry yellow and brown is not the best look in 2023. It all looks worn and dark and not very welcoming. The double beds are made of two spring mattresses put together. Could also do with an upgrade. Bathrooms are tiny, but par for the course. However, there is no active ventilation, so it will stay damp for a while after a bath.
Food: the restaurant interior gave promise of great things to come, but disappointed. We had a two-course pre-ordered menu. The first dish was hake, which could have been nice, but it seemed a bit over cooked (hard fish to cook) and was served cold, which I am sure was not on purpose. Interesting paring with a pistachio cream, which I am still on the fence about. The main course was curry roasted pig. While tasty crust, it was a little undercooked (pink) and from en extremely fatty cut. 40-50% of the cut was fat, which was quite unpleasant. Not something I would choose again. Paired with a nice green salad, new potatoes (overcooked, almost mashed consistency) and a novel mushroom mayo, which mainly tasted like mayo. For wine you have two options for red wine, unless you'll buy a whole bottle. Spanish and Portuguese wines at 85 or 125 kr / glass each. Both where very young, immature, heavy tannin and wholly unpleasant.
In total it was somewhat a disappointing experience. The great service is what lifts the place to two stars. read more
