Let me say the restaurant is gorgeous, the service impeccable, and the food delicious. The building overlook the bay and we actually saw deer prancing around the field through the windows. The restaurant has the Danish charm where it has a local taste in the food and local charm in service.
Jeppe, the manager, immediately greeted us by name upon arrival (memorizing our name from the email reservation and recognizing we were New Yorkers). Our waiter - whose name escapes me at the moment - was excellent and friendly as well.
I highly recommend the 6 course meal. The foie gras and pigeon was my favorite course, but the scallops and beef were also stellar. The strawberry dessert - which I have trouble even describing - was a never before tasted experience.
In short, if you're in Aarhus, and looking for a multi-course chef's platter, I highly recommend Frederiksøj.
