I've been here multiple times before when I had to file for identify theft (Citibank was least helpful in this regard so I've stopped using them). Officers are generally nice as long as you know patience is a two way street. One of them called to followup, but I don't know if the perp was ever caught. I also came here for their annual Haunted basement event. Pretty amazing production - just expect a very long wait. read more

Incredibly disorganized. Nobody had any clue as to who my arresting officer was or what the reason for my arrest was. For a second I wasn't sure if they even had the key to my handcuffs since one person had to ask if anyone had them. I had also complained of knee pain and head pain, asking if I had any bruises on my face but was met with no answers or medical attention. I was released with a voided arrest after being held in a cell for about 2 hours. Biggest waste of time and my tax dollars if you ask me. read more

Cannot thank my local police tonight enough. Tonight I called 911 because some lights were on in the house when I came back that 100% had not been on when I left so I feared someone was in the house. It turns out, these lights have a timer feature I did not know existed, and now am hugely embarrassed to have called 911 about this. Have never called for help like this before in my life. Am terribly sorry to the local police for this trouble. I cannot explain how quickly the police responded to the 911 call. Within minutes of placing the call a team of police, including one very brave female, ran into the house. It was nothing short of incredible. They were so professional and well trained. And then, they were so incredibly kind when it turned out no one was there. They had come and gone in minutes. These people were prepared to risk their lives, as if someone was there anything could have happened. This kind of bravery is truly astounding. And they do this every day..and I cannot thank you all enough. Truly incredible people.h read more

I am writing this review because I feel that I need to express how inconsiderate, unprofessional, and degrading these officers are. Last night, on 5/12 at around 1:40 am I was pulled over. The (very young and untrained) officer came to my window and did not tell me who he is nor did he tell me why he was pulling me over. He simply asked me for my license, registration, and insurance. I asked him why I was pulled over, he lied and told me that I did not signal when I left my parking spot. However, he'd been following me around a few blocks after I left my parking spot. But ok. 2 more officers came to my car and shined their little flashlights into my car. The 3 of us gave them our IDs and the three stooges walked back to their vehicle. When they came to me, they asked me about my address, claiming that I live in a PO box. I'd like to understand what my alleged failure to put on a signal had anything to do with my address? Needless to say I am trying to work with this child so I can go home. I live about an hour away in NJ and was the sober driver for my friend's on this evening. They questioned my sobriety, questioned my address, questioned my integrity? I was pulled over for almost an hour as the 3 stooges desperately tried to find something against me. At the end of it all, they actually arrested me? They treated me like a criminal and cuffed me just to drive me ONE block away. Finger printed me and made me sit in a cell. I have never in my entire life been embarrassed the way these three degenerates in training did. I have never had any issues with police and I have never been charged with anything in my life. All I wanted to do was give my friends a ride home and head to bed. I am completely appalled at the incompetence of the NYPD. New Yorks finest? Absolutely not. I'm sure none of these young men would make their mother, sister, daughter, girlfriend, or wife sit in a cell for no reason. Disgusting. It's a shame some NY officers have no community etiquette. And it's downright sad that our men and women who actually want to make a difference have to deal with police hatred because of the 3 boobs who pulled me over last night. read more

I've used my local police station for a couple of reasons. Fortunately I've never been busted for anything (knock on wood!). When I moved into the 'hood I registered my bike and iPhone. Who knew you could register your cell phone? I figured it couldn't hurt in case it gets ripped off. Also, I've donated winter coats during their holiday coat drive. The cops have been nice each time I've gone in. Seeing them around the neighborhood is a different story. They drive like dicks....even when they're in their own cars and not squad cars. read more

An out-of-town friend had her car broken into a few blocks from the precinct (window smashed, electronics pulled, etc.). We went to the precinct to report the crime for my friend's insurance claim and could not have been treated more rudely by the administrative staff (the one cop who was at the desk when we walked in was nice; that said the ones who stand outside the precinct entrance and never move when you try to squeeze between them and the cars they park on the sidewalk are another story). We were pointed to a room with two women to fill out the appropriate paperwork. When we walked in neither looked up. When we said excuse me again neither looked up - one just raised a finger indicating we should wait (she wasn't on the phone or anything). After a few minutes the one who raised her finger asked why we were there - when we told her she pointed to the other woman who sat about 3 feet away. That woman did not look up. Again we said excuse me and again without looking up she said one minute. After several minutes she got up and walked out of the room without saying anything. She didn't return for over 10 minutes. She finally came back, gave us the paperwork which we filled out and returned. She then asked my friend to clarify something - when my friend tried to move over to see what the woman was referencing, the woman admonished her and told her to step behind the desk. If it wasn't happening to us it would almost have been comical. Courtesy, respect, professionalism? This was the opposite in every possible way. read more

Got a ticket on the subway for something we should have been let go. The cops said that we were out of luck. They had to reach a quota. They also said that people could get away with murder in brooklyn. Kind of funny that they say that while writing us a ticket for something dumb. read more

I had a terrific discussion about the Explorer's program run out of the precinct; Officer Mirasol Carias was so helpful and polite. Her depth of experience shows she understands youth programs well, and that she takes pride in helping community-life. Children are a key part of community, - as well as adults. Officer Loja was also gracious and kind by indicating the youth officer parties the day of Halloween, a very hectic time for any New Yorker. That precinct is fortunate to have such dedicated Nice staff! They welcome the community to a safer friendlier environment. I had an (early) Thanksgiving by just meeting this precinct staff. I recently had my purse stolen at a bar. Two police cars carrying four officers arrived in minutes. They calmed me down and cheered me up. When I went down to the precinct the next day to add additional items to my complaint, an officer remembered me from the night before by name. They empathized for the loss of my property and were happy to do extra paperwork to indulge my type-A neuroses. Thanks, boys in blue! read more

0 stars. I think the dept sends the worst of the litter to this precinct. Got into a fender bender and I'm waiting almost 2hrs for an officer to show up. When the precinct was called the guy who answered was extremely rude and told me to call 311. Unbelievable! So much for CPR. read more

ANSWER YOUR PHONE!!! I stood in line yesterday for 30 minutes (while no one was answering the ringing phone) just to be told I had to go to another precinct to file a report and have a bunch of paperwork with me. I knew for a fact I didn't need that (and that they were just being lazy) but I went and filed it just fine with another precinct in the city. When I told that officer I was turned away from my home precinct, he said it was because they are lazy here. But now the report is being dealt with by the 78th bc it's my home precinct where the crime occurred, and calling just to get the report number is insanely frustrating. Its been ringing for 20 minutes. I know the phone is just the background noise that you're used to there, but I need to speak to someone! I'm not surprised honestly. I tried calling a few weeks ago about a crime in my apartment (about 30 feet down the street) and no one ever picked up and they got away. It didn't warrant a 911 call but I would've really liked an officer there to handle it. Great service to the city, lazy cops. Go to any other precinct and they'll take care of you. If I could give them zero stars I would. I have called on this precinct for help on many occasions. Not a single one were they helpful. One time someone was trying to break into my building. He was literally trying to kick down the glass door (there is only 1 door to get inside my building). They came 20 minutes later (they are only 2 minutes away). Another time, I wanted to file a police report. The night before I was in a cab and the cab literally took someone out on the street. The guy was hit and was up on the car and the entire window smashed. It was the cabbies fault. They wouldn't let me file a police report. Said noone was else reported it so noone cares. This last time when I had a problem I knew they wouldnt be of any help as well. I had parked my car on a street (not in violation). When I went to get my car it wasn't there. I couldn't find it anywhere, and it wasn't towed. I called 311 and they said call your local precinct to find out if it was moved due to street fair, etc. I called them and the first time they called they said "why are you calling here? we know nothing about that stuff." I called them back later (after numerous other calls to the city w no info) and they still said we dont have any info about your car. Finally, after I spent the entire day trying to find my car I see a sign nearby where I parked it saying that it was moved due to street construction and to call this towing company. The thing is the towing company gives a list to the police so that if you cant find your car they can tell you where it is. This precinct just throws away the list. Thanks 78th precinct for making me panic all day about my car and miss a perfectly good beach day. You suck! read more

Just got a parking ticket for violating alternate side street parking rules (issued by "Complainant Parker I," 78th precinct) on a street barricaded for street drilling activities that were actively underway and that would therefore prevent any street cleaning from taking place. To add to my frustration, it was issued at 11:06 AM, just 6 minutes after the "no parking" rule went into effect, and mere minutes before I got to the car after a shopping trip at nearby Barclays Center that ran just a bit too long. Apparently, some police officer decided it was an easy shot (my car was only 1 1/2 blocks from the 78th precinct station house), so why not take it? It looks all too much like a retreat back to the sordid, nasty and arbitrary Giuliani days (is "broken windows" again the philosophy?). Yes, it was technically a violation but a ticket that served no purpose (no street cleaning could be done because of the barricades), provided a gratuitous penalty (I'm retired and every expense weighs heavily) and seems to me to be the product of a lazy and undisciplined police force at the 78th precinct (what other explanation is possible?). What's clear is that it should not have been issued. So I say: Clean up your act, 78....time to raise your standards ! read more
