This precinct is in charge of some of the nicer areas of the northeast Bronx but this has to be one…read moreof the worst precincts in the Bronx. They never solve crimes and unless its murder its considered petty and just shelfed. They will make you do police reports making you think something will be done but if you never call them you will never ever hear from them. They do more harm than good by botching evidence , stalling and running out the clock and divulging private information. By the time they are done you wont be able to do anything with your case and you would have been better off without them. The detective they assigned to me said they had better things to do, closed the case with leads not contacted and the leads they contacted they told all my private biz and the neighbor stopped talking to me. My family and I have filed about 10 reports in the past five years. Zero were solved and only in 2/10 was there even a follow up after the initial report. I highly suggest people forming neighborhood watches, have security cams and look out for each other. These cops have no interest in protecting and serving . They are collecting checks and counting the days to retirement. Stay safe or at least as safe as you can be if this is your precinct

After kicking in my bedroom window, the thief used my suitcases to steal my stuff. He trashed my…read morebedroom (tossing everything looking for secret treasures - hah little did he know that I am the secret treasure in my bedroom... but I digress, and this guy was an idiot). He stole my laptop, docking-station, monitor, keyboard and mouse... but forgot the battery or the power supply. Then he went through everything else looking for valuables. A couple of cameras, some small stuff. An ice cream container from Buckingham Palace filled with British coins. I called 911 from my doorway. My door was open when I got home. I looked into my apartment, and my monitor was gone. I pulled out my Blackberry and called 911 for the first (and hopefully last) time in my life. The operator stayed on the phone with me was I walked from room to room. She was great. My bedroom looked like a cyclone hit it, and my Teddy Bear was crumpled under broken glass. The thief left the light on in my bathroom. I was very angry. Soon enough, a cruiser pulled up with two patrol officers. They were very professional and kind. I was still very angry. When we were walking through my bedroom, assessing the damage, one asked in a concerned tone "Is it usually this messy?" I resisted the urge to slap him, but then realized that these people see the worst of society on a daily basis. I said "No. I made my bed this morning before I left." As we filled out paperwork, their supervisors came. Three plainclothes officers, who were also very kind and they listened to my anger. I was advised not to touch anything until forensics came. I wanted a drink, and one officer suggested that I just wear gloves and have a drink. I couldn't do it. I sat in my chair and never took of my coat. At 11, a detective came to let me know that forensics would come in the morning. I slept in the sofa that night - still angry, I pulled some spare pillows from the closet, and my emergency heater and I closed the door to the bedroom. I slept well, anger is exhausting. In the morning a team of forensic officers came. They got a footprint from my pillow (size 12 boots - just like the guy upstairs) and a print from my desk. I was fingerprinted to rule out my own prints, and after they talked with me for a while, they left and I started cleaning. That evening, the detective who is handling the case came to visit me. He had called a few times during the day, and when he and his partner arrived, I felt like I knew them already. This is just a brief sketch of what transpired over my Friday and Saturday. The upshot is, the police were AMAZING. I'm sorry that they ever had to come into my life, and my stuff is gone. It may be a miracle that I can get it back, but my computer was password protected, the majority of my stuff was backed up using dropbox, and x-marks. Yeah, it's going to cost me some money (I don't have renter's insurance). If you stumbled across this review, take a moment and think about how your life would be affected by a robbery. Make a list of your stuff and their serial numbers. (you might on a long shot get your stuff back). Some of my digital pictures are gone forever. But the majority were saved. I'll update this if the NYPD come through with finding my stuff - but until then, life goes on.... My life has officially become a cautionary tale....

The new recruits are friendly, helpful and not intimidating as in the past. I had a couple bad experiences about 10-15 years ago. Now when I ask for information I'm assisted. It's like when you teach a child the policeman is your friend. I wasn't raised that way. I was taught to be afraid of them. I'd be locked up. I still have a fear of imprisonment. Thus my name FreeBird. I try my best to keep the law because of my fear. I thank the police every chance I get these days. We lost 9 to suicide this year. I'm grateful every day that they take the job. They are so very very underpaid! Thank you NYPD. My heart and prayers go with you.

There was absolutely nothing going on, from what I could see. I doubt the person wasn't there. I came back the next day during the time they said the person would be there. Again, nothing going on. I waited about 20 minutes for someone to come down and do something that took about 5 min. I will say, people were helpful when I came in and asked me what I needed, and they did call the person who did the fingerprint cards within 5-10 minutes of me arriving. I'll give NYPD the benefit of the doubt and assume there was more going on behind closed doors than I could see; otherwise, I would have to say things looked and operated needlessly slow.

I stayed here from 06 to 07 and forgot to leave a review…read more 1. Let me begin by saying everything is free and they never ask for a tip. Most of the hotels I've stayed in pretty much expect tips and the food is always a bit overpriced- not at Rikers. You can pay extra for "commissary" which is basically junk food and extra toiletries. 2. My vacation started at 100 centre street after two gentlemen and the court system as a whole, decided I should quit my gainful-tax paying lifestyle and spend a few years in the care of the correction institution of NY. Apparently, using prescription medication without a prescription warrants this. I was chained to another fine vacationer and we were swiftly taken by bus to Rike's. I give the bus experience 4 stars for value (it was free) but 1 star for the unfriendly staff. 3. Surprisingly great water pressure and shower temperature. 4. Very roomy and yet cosy cots. 5. The bread (served at every meal time) must be some type of local artisanal or ethnically appropriate recipe because it's unlike most store bought bread or any I've tasted previously. 6. The rest of the food is normal pseudo-American fair, pasta, beans and rice, etc. nothing to write about really. 7. Book selection for reading is average and I got a lot of reading done. 8. They have card games and chess/checkers, dominos etc for entertaining times with your new found friends. 9. Staff. The staff need retraining in customer service based duties. Especially the white shirted "captains". Not sure what they believe to be a captain of...but it sure isn't making the customers feel welcome. They often curse wear frowny faced scowls....it just generally seems like they don't want to work there. Every now and then (if your lucky) you'll get to see a Broadway type performance art piece featuring a neo-modern take on the classic Ninja Turtles. They come out yelling and cursing and telling everyone to lay face down on the floor....oh boy it's exciting!!! They prefer Donatellos character though using the culturally appropriate Bo or long stick type weapon. As a side note, I'd really like to see more variety in the characters played and such different weapons. All in all if a cultural diverse, but gender specific, lots of free time vacation is your thing (and by that I mean non-Anglo Caucasian) I'd say you'll love it.

Your locked up 23 hours a day and for the hour you do get, you spend it on the unit because they always give the excuse that they don't have enough staff to take you outside..... It's hot in the summer and super cold in the winter.... I became suicidal because of it all and u definitely don't recommend anyone to go there at all , so please stay home out of trouble and whatever you do try not to get yourself locked up !!!!!'n
