I had just explained to my son the importance of arriving early because arriving on time makes you late(he wondered why we left the hotel early though we were only a couple of blocks away from McDonalds.) The unmarked bus was parked across the street in front of the Paramount building. We were in line for a different tour who was parked in front McDonalds who informed us that we were in line for the wrong tour and pointed to the unmarked bus. We still arrived on time. I then explained to my son that situations like this is why you arrive early. I had a ton of missed calls and was contacted by email but a sign of some sort would've helped(a magnetic sign on the driver and passenger doors, or a foldable sign that can be transported on the bus) as I noticed the bus from across the street(the same side as Applebees and Ellen's Stardust Diner) but had no way of identifying it.

We decided to book a Central Park pedicab tour so we could see more of the park in a shorter amount of time, and after reading countless reviews, we specifically requested Barry as our guide. From the moment we met Barry, he was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making our experience memorable. He took us to all of Central Park's must-see locations and best photo spots. He even helped us adjust our camera settings so we could get the best pictures based on the lighting and scenery. One of our favorite parts was hearing about all the movies and TV shows filmed throughout the park. Barry pointed out famous filming locations and shared fun facts along the way. To top it all off, he took us to the beautiful cherry blossom trees for some amazing photos at the end of the tour. From the start, it felt less like booking a tour and more like planning something with a friend who knows all the shortcuts. Adam called right after I'd made our reservation just to get a sense of who we were and what kind of day we were hoping to have. Five minutes into the call, he proposed a small tweak--we'd do Roosevelt Island (which, as it turns out, is eminently walkable) and then hop back across the river to explore the lower half of Central Park. Perfect! Adam is one of those rare guides who feels like he's just hanging out with you--until you realize he's quietly packed the afternoon with layered history, local secrets, well-timed snack stops, and detours that always feel like your idea. He never once looked at notes, yet somehow knew the story behind every building, sculpture, park bench, and waterfront overlook. His sense of pace was spot on--no rush, no filler, just an intuitive read on when to linger, when to pivot, and when to pull over for banana pudding at Magnolia Bakery. The Roosevelt Island tram alone would've been worth the outing. But pairing it with a relaxed wander through Central Park, led by someone who clearly knows and loves the city, made it something else entirely. We got sharp insights, excellent snack recs, a little fresh air, and a tour that didn't feel like a tour. No umbrellas. No stickers. Just a friend showing us the back doors and best angles. We'd book Adam again in a heartbeat--and we probably will. You should, too.
