For those that don't like reading, in summary, Dr. Bley and his team were outstanding and I had the EASIEST experience with Lasik and would basically force anyone considering this procedure to go to NY Lasik (yes, it was that good)! To start, the staff is fantastic and immediately makes you feel at home, even at the first consultation. Dr. Bley himself is super down to earth and was able to explain the procedure in detail I could understand, and had a great presence to him. I immediately felt comfortable. Adding to my comfort was the fact that the office is beautiful, clean, and modern. The day of the procedure was easy; in and out. I was nervous, but during the actual procedure Dr. Bley and the team explained each step while it was happening and were very encouraging; this greatly helped ease my anxiety. The procedure itself involves zero pain; it is a bit of on odd sensation but again Dr. Bley explains it while it is happening and re-assures throughout. Everyone says that immediately after the procedure you can see; this is true but it is worth noting that for an hour or so I was a bit blurry. This passed quickly and now my vision is 20/15 - better than I ever have had with contacts or glasses. It made me nervous hence why I wanted to call it out - it passes quickly and I cannot stress that enough. There was also a bit of pain (sand in eyes feeling) after the procedure but again, this went away relatively quickly (if I recall correctly 2 hours max). I would 100% recommend anyone considering Lasik to stop your search and book an appointment here. I researched and visited numerous places, but this was the best decision I made and am thankful to the staff. They were available on email and phone from the time of the consultation to the procedure, and were extremely informative and responsive. read more

They refuse to give me my medical reports. I came here in July 2022 and was diagnosed with cataracts after not seeing the bottom line in the vision test in 2 separate eye exam room machines. The doctor who examined me reeked of alcohol coming out of her pores. And because she had to move in close to the machine to do the exam, it was really tortuous. After being there almost 2.75 hours and still waiting to have a consult about my cataracts, I left. And it seemed like other patients in the office were having problems with being seen at their appointed time. I later asked for my records of the cataract diagnosis and sent in the proper Hippa release forms. I was told that it would take 6 - 8 weeks. 2.5 months later - nothing, follow up phone call to the office goes to a voicemail. I keep calling and leaving messages after being transferred from the main desk and no call backs. If an eye appointment is going to take 3 hours, then the patient should be informed ahead of time. read more

My experience with Dr. Bley has been nothing short of amazing. I should note that it took me years to even go to a consultation for LASIK because I was so nervous. As soon as I walked through the door, the staff made me feel comfortable and right at home. The entire procedure is explained thoroughly and all questions are answered. Their policies are flexible and allow for you to reschedule should you need. The surgery itself went exactly how it was described to me, no surprises. I had today appointment at 1:20. I came 1:05, filled up all paperwork. Then nurses take me for tests, and told me wait for doctor.. ok. At 2 o'clock I still waiting.. asked nurse where is doctor? She answered " he is on operation!!! I don't think it was something emergency operation, why they don't consider the appointment? At 2:50 I still don't see doctor ! Ok, I'm severely downgrading this place because I am pissed off at their post-Lasik service. After the surgery you have to come in once in awhile to make sure everything is as it should be and that your vision is where it should be. I've had a couple of these appointments because I was concerned about my dry eyes. Each time I've come in since my surgery I left more and more pissed off. Today was the final straw. I came in for a 1PM appointment and sat around for an hour and a half until my name was called. (I know this is nothing new in doctor's offices but still gets me so freakin angry, like the rest of us don't have jobs!) After I finally got called up, they quickly checked my vision (still perfect) and had me sit and wait in another room for my doctor to come and speak to me. This was a moment of concern because last time my doctor, Dr. Bley, was not able to come see me and one of the other doctors that works there came in instead. I don't normally mind this except that this other doctor was replacing a regular doctor going on maternity leave and this new doctor seemed really really new. Like I just graduated med school new. Not only did she not sound like she knew what she was talking about, (she could not remember the name of drops nor the appropriate dosage she wanted to prescribe) but she had one of those drawn out Staten Island or maybe Jersey girl accents. Ugh. Anyway, today they said sit here fore a few minutes and Dr. Bley will come in and see you. Dr. Bley was too busy chatting it up with a friend of his in the waiting room to come in and see me and instead after another excruciatingly long wait, the idiot doctor was back. Not only did she have totally different ideas about how to treat my eyes this time versus last time (last time she told me to drink fish oil), she performed a mini procedure on me (punctual occlusion for dry eyes) without bothering to explain what she was about to do or why she was doing it. I asked for an explanation and she said it'll help your dry eyes. Meanwhile she's sticking something rather painfully into my tear ducts and tells me later after I ask more questions that it will take 3-4 months to dissolve. This is the kind of information I'd like to know before you do it! The reason I even figured out what she did to me was because I read the name on the box of the things she stuck in my eye and googled it later. Basically really really bad service. I'm still very happy with the fact that I got Lasik and Dr. Bley is a great surgeon but the way the office is run really drags down the whole experience. read more

I had PRK (a different type of Lasik) eye surgery in May 2015... It is now roughly 6 months later... I went in for a follow up check-up with Dr. Leonard Bley who did my surgery last week, and I am ecstatic to report that I have 20/15 vision!!!!! How incredible is that? It's like a miracle! I was one of those people who had been wearing contact lenses for 15 years, and was simply tired of it. I felt like a slave to the annoying routine of putting them in, and taking them out, and putting them in, and taking them out... For those of you who have been wearing contacts for 15 years, I am sure you can relate! Anyway, my father who is now 62 years old, had his PRK procedure done almost 20 years ago with Dr. Bley! And my father's vision, that was corrected 20 years ago is still perfect! So naturally, when it came time for me to do PRK, going to Dr. Bley was an obvious choice. First you go for a free consultation where they do all sorts of tests on your eyes to make sure that your eye is a candidate for the procedure... In my case, and in my father's case as well, we both did PRK because "our flap is too thin for Lasik." Basically, if you have a thin flap, you do PRK, if your flap is thicker, you can do Lasik... However, fighter pilots all do PRK... So now I can go be a fighter pilot if I want to ;) After finding out that I was a candidate for PRK (and not Lasik) I made an appointment for the procedure. The whole procedure probably takes 10-20 minutes... Probably even less. I had discomfort for 3 days after the procedure but by the 3rd day was 90% back to normal. Every day after that was better and better. After 1 full week, I barely felt anything. My eyes totally healed... I just was very careful with washing my face. I didn't use any soaps, and also I stopped wearing eye makeup for 3 months. The best thing about getting PRK was going to the beach in the summer! What an amazing relief to be able to swim and not worry about losing a contact! The beach itself looked more incredible than I'd ever seen it in years... It's like I now see the world in HD! It's really a trip! Once in a while, if my eyes do get dry, I just put some drops in... But apparently this "eye dryness" goes away over time. It annoys me that Thomas M and Lana V left terrible reviews for such a good doctor... Thomas M, by the way, if you read the review, didn't even get Lasik or PRK from Dr. Bley so that review shouldn't even count! And Lana V did get Lasik and has PERFECT results, as she says in her review herself... She is just complaining about waiting in the waiting room... Yes, I had to wait in the waiting room too... But hello... This is New York City... You have to wait at every doctors office... I'm not saying it's okay, but what I am saying is, it's sort of the norm, so let's rate this doctor by his actual work and capabilities, and not how long you had to wait in the waiting room! Who cares if you have to wait a bit if you walk out with perfect 20/15 vision!! Anyway... I highly recommend Dr. Bley for his skills as a Lasik and PRK eye surgeon. I received Lasik surgery from Dr. Leonard Bley about a year ago and while I was happy with the immediate results, the side effects and complications that followed have been difficult to deal with. I had dry-eye syndrome prior to my surgry and during my consultation with Dr. Bley I was never once warned of this potential danger to consider when deciding to go through with the the surgery and how it would exacerbate this illness of mine. Since then I have been to 4 different eye-doctors and have been diasgnosed with many new eye conditions and now use 3 different eye drops every day, along a set of daily routines that I now need to abide by. When I scheduled a follow up with Dr Bley after all this to explain my concerns he disregarded my concerns and simply proferred me a new procedure with him called Lipiflow to cure these side effects, at a steep (and annual) cost. It was disappointing to me that when I was looking for a doctor in my time of need, I found a Salesman. To conclude - I wish I was just met with more "Doctorliness" in my encounters with his office ie. looking to help and have the patient's interests in mind, not their own. read more

The staff members are outrageously careless with eyeglasses, and do not accept responsibility for damage they cause. Specifically, I've had my glasses severely scratched on two occasions. There was a lensometer involved in both cases, but these folks are very protective of the lensometer and say it is "impossible" for the lensometer to have scratched my glasses. OK, ok! Then it wasn't your precious lensometer. It was the careless human who placed the glasses on the lensometer and retrieved the glasses from the lensometer! Either way, my glasses were in the care of those humans and were so scratched that I've now had to replace the lenses, which cost me $487. On October 4th, the intern marched off with the glasses (to determine the prescription) and returned them to me with deep scratches on each lens. I alerted my doctor as soon as this happened and he tried to assure me that the lensometer doesn't scratch glasses. OK, then it was the person who put the glasses on the lensometer. Either way, they're scratched now and they weren't before! On October 11th, I went to the office specifically to argue that NY Lasik should make me whole for the damage they caused the week before. Staffer Marsha -- in her effort to convince me that the lensometer could not possibly have scratched my lenses -- put a new, third scratch on my lenses. Elaine was there. She knows. I may need to subpoena her as a witness. We'll see. Elaine takes me to the office of an unrelated optician in the same building, with the hope that someone there can put a coating on the lenses and remedy the scratch. The person at that unrelated office, we'll call him "Robert" was forthcoming in saying, you can't repair a scratch. But he cleaned the lenses and gave me thoughtful answers to my various questions. Elaine and I head back upstairs. Elaine asks Office Manager Jack to speak with me. I describe what happened, including the scratch that Marsha put on the glasses within the last 30 minutes, and Jack just keeps saying, "You're the first person to ever complain. We use those machine all the time." OK, Jack. Great. Your precious machine is blameless. The lensometer can do no wrong. But humans have to engage with the machine and in their carelessness, these humans severely scratched my lenses. Replacing those puppies cost me $487. Jack asks me what I think should happen. I tell him his office should make me whole. Jack doesn't like that idea. Says it's "not appropriate." Jack digs in. He refuses to accept responsibility for the damage sustained while my glasses were in the care of his colleagues. Further, Jack tells me he spoke with Robert and that Robert says the machine couldn't have caused the scratches. Well, that surprised me, so I fact-checked Jack as I was leaving. I found Robert again and asked if he'd spoken with someone named Jack. "Nope. I didn't talk with anyone." Robert may not be a saint, but he has a lot more credibility with me than Jack does. In summary, I'd like to be compensated for the damage sustained while my glasses were in the care of these staff members. Did they intend to damage my glasses? I certainly hope not. But did the lenses get scratched while in their care? Yes. $487 is a whole heck of a lot to pay for someone else's carelessness. I had the glasses for years without ever scratching them. These jokers scratched them each time they handled them. Unacceptable. Send the check. Thx. read more

I made an appointment to have my eyes checked solely for the purpose of renewing my NY drivers license. My vision is excellent and all I needed was for the doctor to sign the form that I passed the Snellen test (the eye chart test we're all familiar with - "read the top row" etc). The nurse gave me the test and I scored 20/20 on both eyes. She then led me to another room and told me she was going to administer another test, "just 5 minutes for each eye", using some complicated looking machine. I asked her if this was necessary, and she told me the doctor wanted to check "something". I asked again if this was a requirement for renewing my driver's license since I clearly had 20/20 vision and she became evasive, unable to tell me yes or no. We went back to the lobby and Dr. Nerry Nayzov appeared. He asked me to follow him to another room, had me sit in front of another expensive looking machine and asked me to put my head on the chinrest. I said "I only need the Snellen test - it's for my driver's license." and he replied "Just put your chin on the rest". Nice manners. I told him again, I only need the required test for my driver's license. I see I passed it with 20/20 for both eyes, so are these other tests required? He answered that "sometimes they want to know about the side vision" so I asked him again "but is it required right now, today? All I wanted was the eye chart test, which I already took." Without saying anything else, he took me to the lobby, filled out my form with his back turned to me, didn't say another word and disappeared. It is my opinion that both the nurse and Dr. Nayzov, by carefully parsing their words, presented these other tests to me as being necessary before I could renew my license. This in spite of me very explicitly and clearly explaining the purpose for my visit. I was made very uncomfortable having to argue with both of them. God forbid my insurance company denied the claim - I would have been on the hook for hundreds of dollars of unnecessary bills. I know my vision will go bad one day, but I also know that no one from this office will ever treat me for it. read more

Dr. Bley is an excellent surgeon, has patience and immense experience. I recommend him to anyone certain about getting Lasik. However, do independence research because Rory -- the hyper office manager -- is more interested in making a sale than making sure you've well informed. TIPS: Firmly negotiate to ensure you're get the actual "best offer" you're entitled to. She'll offer you a discount if you pay cash for a discount (I didn't) and even to backdate your procedure for insurance (I also didn't). Know that if you're paying out of pocket: the two mandatory eye drop prices fluctuate at different pharmacies so call around. Also research post-recovery based on your personal routine. Today marks 7 days after my LASIK surgery and I officially have 20/20 vision thanks to Dr. Bley! The entire process was smooth and the actual procedure/surgery was painless. First, I came in for a free consultation to see if I even qualified for Lasik. During the consultation the technicians took some measurements and tests and then I was seen by an Opthalmologist. He reviewed my tests and looked more closely at my eyes and I was cleared for Lasik. Next, I spoke with the surgical coordinator regarding pricing and any questions I had. After thinking it over for a few weeks, I scheduled my appt for dialation. Dr. Vu (he is so friendly and reassuring!) looked at my eyes while I was dialated and answered any remaining questions I had and 2 days later I had my surgery. Of course I was nervous because it was my eyes but it was absolutely painless and I was able to see right after the procedure was done!! It was probably no more than 15 minutes from beginning to end but it felt like 5 minutes because everything happened so quickly. What calmed me down the most was the fact that Dr Bley and the nurses talk you through the whole thing so you know what to expect every second of the way. After the surgery, you feel a burning sensation in your eyes for about an hour, it's very bearable and that was the worst part of the whole thing! I was in the recovery room with my eyes closed for about an hour until Dr Bley checked my eyes and discharged me. On the way home in the car, I was able to see the road signs & license plates clearly! Follow the post-op instructions and you will have a speedy recovery. Something about myself and how I find Dr Bley and his wonderful staff. I am a young healthcare professional in my 30s. I have wear glasses for 20 years, and wear contacts weekly for sports. Yearly expense is near $500 on glasses and contacts. After searching on the Internet for half year, I decide to ask around for words of mouth. I am so glad one of my patient which is also a dentist refer me to Dr. Bley for the LASIK surgery. Cory prep you very thoroughly with her caring smile and professional detail booklets. After the short surgery (15mins+), I wasn't feeling well and fall asleep on the chair. I guess the nervousness + the volume got me (not much of a pill guy). I was resting there for two hours, their staffs are so kind and let me rest my eyes until I feel better. After I ate something with my eyes closed, I actually felt better. Like their instruction said do not rub your eyes, I am so scare because I am those people who love to touch my eyes and rub it real hard until I feel relieve. I did get through the first night tougher than anything else. By night time after 5hours of the surgery, I can pretty much open my eyes in dimmed room and can see clearly. I was super amaze and suck up whatever comes in the way, like no lotion or shampoo or even water in the eyes for a week. The desperation for not wearing glasses can take you very far I believe. Long story short, I can now see very well without my glasses and I am happy to go back for check ups when Nerry remember your name and that welcoming smile all of the staffs show , it is more comforting then anything else. Like most couples, the man have to go first and I did. I go through the whole process before my wife goes in the machine yesterday. Dr. Bley is a compassionate doctor who explained everything thoroughly and provides excellent eye care. Dr. Bley performed my lasik in 2006. When I moved out of state and had continuous eye problems after an eye abrasion in 2017, I felt helpless and lost after many many months of continual visits to several ophthalmologists. After a failed eye surgery, I called dr. Bley and he took his time with the advice that he provided. I was very interested in doing lasik for about 3 years but I couldn't find a doctor I could trust and a doctor who cared about me and my reservations. After going to 3 doctors for opinions, I met Dr. Bley, Rory and their team. Immediately I knew that this was going to be the team I trust and want to work with. I had to get a tiny piece of metal removed from my eye! Dr. Nerry Nayzov was the most patient saint of a doctor ever! I had a few small panic attacks and he was very helpful and nonjudgemental. First time here and last. The clinic made me wait an hour just to see my doctor. Then once I told my Dr politely after he finally came, he said I'm 45 minutes late O.o (perhaps misreporting from the nurse?) Doctor put a drop in my eye and couldn't give me time to be relieved until the next one. I want to start off by saying, lasik was not something that I was planning on doing at 26 years old. I believed that it was not worth the money nor the time so i would keep pushing the time back, waiting longer and longer. That mentality changed when Dr Bley told me he wanted to help me and told me to come and check my eyes to see what he can do. Once I showed up I was treated super nice. Between the Doctors and staff I didnt feel any pressure, just people working to improve the quality of my life. One interesting moment I had was when one doctor came in the room to test my eyes. He was nice just as all the others before him who were looking at my eyes were, but what was so relaxing about him was the fact that once he was done looking at my eyes he was going downstair to get lasik done on himself! After wearing glasses for 23 years I've decided to do lasik for my poor vision. A good friend of mine recommended Dr. Bley so I went for a free consultation. Rory was super nice and informative about the whole procedure. After the examination they told me I was a fit candidate of the latest bladeless lasik. I went in after a few months to do the surgery with Dr. Bley. The procedure was about 10-15 mins long and the actual lasik only lasted seconds( the rest of the time they were preparing my eyes for the machine). Afterward I had broken vessels on my whites because I have very sensitive/delicate skin/eyes. Didn't happen to my friend who did it. They went away within 2 weeks. The lasik itself was quick and didn't hurt at all. Dr. Bley was very patient with me and assured me everything would be ok during the whole time. The doctor promises that if you refer clients for lasik he will give you money back from your lasik surgery- i sent him 2 people who did surgery and never saw a dime. I highly recommend this place! I had originally gone to 2 other places because I wanted to find a place where I really liked the surgeon and felt comfortable. That's exactly what I got when I came here! First they checked my eyes in the customary consultation, and then they brought me into a room where dr. Nayzov sat with me and explained the entire process. He answered all my questions and was incredibly patient. Shortly after I met Dr. Bley who would be my surgeon. He was confident and also sat with me explaining everything and making sure I was comfortable. I knew I had picked the right place. The day of the surgery, everyone was really patient and the whole process was incredibly quick. Dr.bley was great through the entire surgery. As someone who had almost -6 in my right eye and -5 in my left, I hadn't seen without help for over 20 years. I have never had an experience at as bad as New York Lasik Center. I made my appointment through ZocDoc as a first time patient with Dr. Nerry Nayzov. I was contacted by NY Lasik Center since they had to reschedule my appointment. A week later I got a second call asking if my appointment was to be fitted for contact lenses, I said yes which is why I had made my appointment with Dr. Nerry Nayzov. We rescheduled for the third time to ensure I could get a contact prescription and a glasses prescription. My appointment was at 9:30am, and due to so much back and forth I called that morning at 8:30 to ensure my appointment, which the receptionist confirmed. When I showed up at 9:15 for my 9:30 appointment a receptionist told me the doctor wasn't going to be in until 11:30, which I asked why I wasn't made aware of this when I called an hour ago and she had no answer. Since I was not going to be able to be seen by Dr. Nerry Nayzov that day I had no choice but to see Dr. Leonard Bley. When I saw Dr. Leonard Bley and told him that I needed contacts he said since I have been wearing contacts for over 10 years and was comfortable with that brand, since he cannot fit for contact lenses, that he would renew my prescription. I recently called to ask for my contact prescription so I can order my contacts online and I was told I cannot get my prescription as I will need to come back for a fitting since I did not get that during my first appointment. I explained to them that I had this conversation with Dr. Leonard Bley, but they insisted there is nothing they can do. I cannot get my contact prescription until I come back for my fitting; even though the entire point of my visit the first time was ensure this was taken care of.
