Rachel Markus and Daniel Oakes treated us and our home with great respect and care. After meeting with them for the first time, we realized that they provided extra services compared to other realtors. They are almost a one-stop-shop: professional photography of the property, filming a promotional video, filming the virtual tour, staging the home (through their collaboration with an excellent interior designer), moving our furniture in/out of the home to set up the new staging, and of course, listing, promoting and selling the property. All of this is included in the price of the commission, which is completely reasonable compared to other agents. Our house sold quickly, and at an excellent price. We were surprised by how easy it was, but Rachel reassured us each step along the way and explained the process very clearly. She knew it was hard for us to leave our home, but also particularly difficult to sell a house during a pandemic (when everything is shut down, where do you take your family while house showings are going on?).  But she treated us with respect and supported us through the process. Her advice regarding each stage of the sales process was compassionate, helpful and precise - she knows what she's doing! Most importantly, the house sold promptly and we were very happy with the process. Rachel and her team are a perfect example of the services that professional real estate agents provide to homeowners. I couldn't imagine trying to do everything that Rachel and her team did as part of a private/online sale. It just isn't practical. The services Rachel provided were definitely worth the price. Overall, we give our highest recommendation to Rachel and the Oakes Realty Team. Please consider her for your next sale or house-purchase!

He really won our vote when Darren did not hesitate to answer all our questions and we had many, thanks Darren. Such a refreshing change to meet such a friendly contractor, he took the time to explain how they will be built, time frame with start and finish date etc. We were so pleased at how well everything was built with pride and quality and care and how clean he left the yards. You can see the quality We call and requested quotes from 4 other builders and know we made the right choice. He even gave us a warranty that no other quotes were offering. He was also the only person that stressed how important it was for us to call for references. In truth we never did call his references, to lazy I guess, but did not need to , his work was top notch. I highly recommend him and his crew. Thank, you Francis

While we don't often post reviews online about personal projects or providers we work with, we're…read moremaking an exception here as we believe that more people need to hear about the incredible work done by Oakwood, Design Candy and their related teams. I cannot possibly stress how much of a difference having the right partner to work with for a renovation can make an impact. First off, when Steph and I bought our first home together it was a stressful process as I believe it is true for any first-time home buyers. There is so much going on between mortgages, moving, inspections, work and balancing all of it, just that process alone can be a nightmare. Add to that the rather ambitious idea that we wanted to renovate some key elements of the house /before/ we moved in so that we didn't have to try and balance living and renovations at the same time. Enter: Oakwood. We've had a great relationship with them for a long time (They previously renovated Iversoft's newest office) and we have always visited their design centre just off of trim road in Orléans with envy. When we bought a place down the street from their design centre, they were a natural choice for a partner. We were working with a close friend on the design and inspiration for our planned renovation and Oakwood's team was absolutely amazing at working with us. They were able to provide their own recommendations and design insight while working within the vision Design Candy had presented and, unbelievably were willing to work with the insane timeline we'd set for ourselves (a little over 4 weeks!) Start to finish. Let me also say right now, EVERY single person we spoke to going into this renovation told us that renovations run over time and over budget and no amount of praise for Oakwood or belief in their process and teams was going to change that. (Spoilers: They NAILED the timeline!) The Job: Completely demo and renovate Kitchen Upgrade home electrical service from 100A to 200A Sand and refinish ALL hardwood in the house Disassemble, sand, refinish the main staircase and replace all wood spindles with new metal ones Update most major lighting fixtures Repaint the entire house Timeline: 4.5 Weeks until we moved in (Start to finish) Conclusion Since the renovation work was completed and as we've settled into our new home I have not yet missed an opportunity to talk about how great an experience working with Candace, Sharon, John, Marc and the entire Oakwood and Design Candy teams were. When you're dealing with a world of chaos in a renovation where every timeline is dependant on another, suppliers and work can so easily be tripped up by simple mistakes or oversights, Oakwood stands head and shoulders above any other company we've ever spoken to. They have detailed reporting and processes to keep owners involved in every step of the process while also giving a ton of confidence that everything is happening just the way it is supposed to. They easily adapt when the unexpected happens and were proactive in helping manage our expectations and mitigate our stress throughout. This was easily the largest personal project either of us has ever taken on and overseen as customers and we cannot speak highly enough of the professionalism, results, and efficiency in which everything was delivered. We're looking forward to our next project with the Oakwood team and are happy to act as a reference so others can avoid the renovations headaches and nightmares we've heard so much about from other companies and contractors! ~Graeme & Steph https://medium.com/@graemebarlow/our-oakwood-design-candy-experience-49ee04206eb4

MR KITCHEN This is the worst company I have ever dealt with…read more We signed a contract to have a new kitchen installed on May 11 2019. It is still not finished. They want the full payment before installing the kitchen. Here is a short list of the issues with this company. We received a schedule for delivery, installation, inspection by them and the countertop measurement date. The date the countertop company would come in to measure. 1) They barely made the delivery date, I took time off and had to call them to find out what was happening. 2) The installer showed up the next day and installed the kitchen. 3) Once he completed we noticed many issues, cracked door, incorrect cabinet placement, wrong size cabinets.... And the list goes on 4) The installer did not follow the plan and we could not even slide our stove in its location. The cabinets were misaligned. 5) The designer did not leave enough room for doors to open so the blind corner baskets cannot slide out as they are suppose too. 6) The inspection was scheduled byt them for the next day at approx. 8:00am. No one showed up so I called. 7) The service manager did not know where his inspector was??????????? 8) He never showed up to inspect before the countertop company came to measure. 9) Countertop company came the next day and measured for countertops. 10) I realized the measurements would be bad because the cabinets were not in their correct location so I called MR. No one returned my call. 11) I called the countertop company myself and had them put the countertop on hold. 12) Finally 3 days later and at the last minute they sent the inspector. They called me at work to say they would be there in 1 hour? He spent 2 hours identifying what had been done wrong. 13) We assumed they would fix it ASAP. WRONG 14) For the next 4 months when they sent technicians to fix, repair or replace, they had the wrong pieces or the wrong size doors or not all the parts... All of them wrote down size of doors and cabinets.... But somehow that information was lost every time. They would come back with mismatched pieces and 1 time with a door that was 1 foot to short. When they noticed the blind corner unit could not slide out the service manager said that that was normal.??? (I have the emails) 15) All they had to do was look at the plan but I think that is to logical. 16) They had no idea from one person to the next what was going on. 17) We are still missing toe kicks because last time they came the piece was 3 feet to short? 18) This was just a taste of what dealing with this company was like.

Superior product and customer service !…read more Having an entire backyard project (and front yard in our case) designed and built is a huge investment in time and, of course, money. After speaking with other customers and visiting projects by Edgewater Pools & Jonathan Robert Landscapes, we decided to move forward with them. We were amazed. They do not sub out work like every other pool and landscaping company, these guys have their own team, their own equipment and are total professionals. Their work crews showed up each morning before the crack of dawn and did not quit until well after dusk. They cleaned up after themselves each day and made sure the entire project was seamless. In watching them and inspecting their work daily, we noticed that everything they did was done right. There were no short cuts or corners cut and it became very apparent to us that they employee a team of skilled craftsmen who take pride in what they do. The foremen (Scott) would touch base with us every day and provide us updates while pridefully showing us their daily progress. From the beginning Bert (Designer) and his team where transparent about the timing, what to expect and worked tirelessly to help us create a beautiful design within our budget. Jonathan (Owner) would be on site multiple times a week to make sure things were on track. It is obvious that this company is run like a swiss watch and produces an outstanding quality product that speaks for itself. They have turned our backyard into something that our family can truly enjoy for many years. (winter photos attached)

We hired this company for a major landscaping and front patio project almost three years ago, and…read moreinitially we were very happy with the results. The work looked great, and the overall experience during the installation process was positive. Unfortunately, the front steps have now started falling apart, creating what we believe is a serious safety hazard. We contacted the company hoping they would stand behind the workmanship or at least help address the issue, but were told the work is outside of warranty and that we would need to pay for repairs ourselves. We understand warranties have limits, but we are disappointed that such significant deterioration happened in less than three years and that there was little willingness to help resolve it. Given the cost of the project, we expected the hardscaping to last much longer. I'm leaving this review because while the work looked excellent at first, long-term durability and post-project support matter just as much.
