My nails did turn out pretty cute in the end, which is the only reason I'm giving such a generous rating considering my experience. I live in Boston and the service and value of going to a nail salon in one of the most expensive cities in the country is far superior what what I experienced today at N.V. Let's start with the prices...$30 for a pedicure is reasonable, but the 15 minute pedicure I received today was a laughable rip-off. There was only one other mom/daughter duo in there, so I see no reason as to why the pedicure seemed to be such a burden for my lady. She also told me the nail color I chose was a "bad color." Ummm excuse me?
From there, I got switched to another guy for my nails since they all had a look of horror on their faces when I asked if someone could draw an Autumn leaf on my thumb... Kevin (I believe was his name) was automatically defensive and rude upon my sitting down, but seemed to get a little better as the time went on. But it also could have been that I was too distracted by the chunks of rice dangling from his shirt to notice the change in demeanor. We got the base color done and then I showed him the picture of the leaf, which used Fall colors of reds, oranges, browns and yellows. He brought out neon colors and got offended when I asked if he had anything close to the colors in the picture. I suggested maybe he use the full bottles of polish and just pull color from a dot off a paper towel to draw the design rather than only using the small bottles of color meant for nail designs. He didn't like this suggestion. He tried, which I appreciate, but it turned out terrible and I told him I would rather just have the plain base color. He convinced me to let him try another design "J. Lo had in a recent magazine," so I said fine. It's okay, but not fall festive like I had hoped. The bill came put to a whopping $110 and THAT is my major problem. I got a spa pedi and my mom and I both got gel manis. I asked for them to break it down for me and I just got a condescending response. $40 for a gel mani with a design in a tiny town in Missouri is absurd. I also didn't appreciate the lack of respect and rushed service. Definitely won't be back, but it's too bad we don't have any reasonably-priced quality walk-in nail salons in Chillicothe! read more
