Young eagles has a program allows the kids to go up at their first time for free, give us them a membership into hundreds of museums across the nation and a free membership at Sportys. Sportys is a online student pilot license course and pilot resource center. Great basin honored the discovery flight certificate at face value, some of the other places want to charge extra money, so this is a bonus. My son arrived early. I had to sign the required waiver and permission for a minor blah blah. Kevin was his instructor and my son said he was really good. Finally it's in Atlantic aviation building which is quite a nice terminal.

She is friendly, knowledgeable, and a great mentor and educator, helping to instill confidence while making concepts easy to understand. Finding an instructor during COVID and for a tailwheel aircraft proved to be difficult. After a chain of intros next thing you know Taylor and I are flying together getting things started! He was flexible with scheduling to help meet my aggressive timeline of trying to finish all my training in less than two months. I had bought a plane for my training and already completed ground school before it all. Taylor is super nice guy and is a very patient and thorough instructor. He always made sure to cover our bases and stay in close contact with schedules, planning to make sure we were thoroughly covering all required Part 61 knowledge requirements, and most of all having a fun time while training. I did all the instruction in a plane I owned, and Taylor flew up to me a handful of times until I was solo'd (just North of Reno) to accommodate plane location and timing. It was also nice having someone more near my age as well with a lot of tailwheel experience and now I can say I've got a great aviation contact and friend. (He said he also had students switch to him from my previous school for same the reasons.) Brian was a great salesman....sold me $175 dollars worth of books as he said my materials wouldn't cut it from the other school. On the 1st flight lesson I showed up prepared and excited to move forward in my progression towards my license only to show up to an instructor (Matt who I had previously met multiple times and told my story to more than once) who doesn't know who I am, acts like he has no idea that I'm not a brand new student pilot (already had 16 hrs), and tells me I'm flying the warrior.....after telling him I'm supposed to be flying the 172 as I already have 16 hrs in one and I'm ready to solo he tells me I can't, because it's broken...Been broken for days.. Brian knew I was flying the 172 and he set this all up for me so I am perplexed why he didn't tell any of my story to Matt and did not notify me ahead of time that the plane was broken (as he said he would). I told Matt I wasn't happy with the scenario (I was never rude) and I wasn't flying that day. I was willing to give them another chance, but Brian quit answering or returning my calls and messages and is not willing to deal with the situation. Confrontation is a part of business!! I had a loan ready to go in order to fund my new venture. I contacted them multiple times on their website as well as their FB page in order to set up a discovery flight to see how I liked the school. I was ignored by them when I emailed them. When I messaged them on Facebook they read my message and didn't respond. I had to message them again a couple days later to which they told me they were really busy but asked if I was interested in the flight school. I advised them I was interested in the flight school. They read the message and didn't write me back. I waited another 2 days and still no response. I wrote them again and said I guess I will be looking at other organizations to find my flight training. They read this message and still didn't respond. I won't waste my time or money on a place that doesn't have the time to write back a single message or give me the opportunity to do a discovery flight they clearly advertise on their website.
