So hopefully when you're looking to adopt an animal this makes no difference, but this facility is lovely. It is so clean, not at all smelly, very modern, and just all-around appealing to the eyes. Their cat center is the cutest, with little cube-y cubbies for the kitties featuring different levels, and a whole room where you can just watch them lounge and hang about. The door into it is unlocked, so I'm pretty sure you can also spend some time playing with them, if you so desire.
Dogs are housed in the back, in more traditional kennels, but they looked comfortable, and none seemed terribly unhappy. They also had a large glass-enclosed room in the center with two adorable puppies playing.
It's small, and, at least when I visited, there were probably 30 or so cats to about 10 dogs. There were several people looking at animals, and while we didn't speak to any employees they seemed nice, and passionate. I can't remember the prices for adoption, and don't see any information on their website, but it was in line with other facilities: quite low for cats, and they had a special if you adopted two kitties. Higher for pups, but it did not seem unreasonable.
Again, I know appearances shouldn't matter if you're rescuing a sweet little animal, but some of the more basic adoption centers are so darn depressing. Perhaps this is done on purpose because it makes you want to save all the animals, but it also causes me to avoid them a little because I feel so bad. This is a no-kill, non-profit company, and if I am ever seriously considering adoption it would be one of the first places I looked. read more
