Daughter and I stopped in for a look around on one of our walkabouts, and were very pleasantly pleased with what we found and observed. The shop, though looking small from the outside, has two levels of displays inside, and is well-stocked with a fine range of various collectibles, antiques, and such. I liked and appreciated the ambiance -- it was quiet (background music, at low level), with lighting appropriate to the kind of establishment and offerings -- and our cordial and informative host. We enjoyed browsing the several areas of the shop, and checking out the various displays. And amongst the looking around, asking our host a few questions about the shop, and some of the items we found of most interest. It was good to see this fine shop back in business, and wish them well in their endeavours.

Daughter and I did a stop and shop at the gallery on the last day of our stay. We enjoyed checking out the various offerings, and acquiring specific information on some of the offerings displayed. I had some purchasing thoughts in mind with this visit to the gallery -- gifts were to be for daughter and myself -- not to be Christmas gifts, but more like lasting remembrances of this pre-winter, and pre-holidays stay. I had taken care of Mom's gift earlier that day. When I saw what I thought each of us would like, daughter was asked to "leave", and purchases arranged -- then I caught up with her for more walkabout, and dropped back later for pick up. Everything, including the earlier purchase, was kept under wraps and hidden from any peaks during the rest of our stay. My purchases: - for daughter: 'Crystalline Glazed Porcelain Vase' - by Holly McKeen, Studio Potter, at Greendale Pottery, Chilliwack, BC. - for me: 'Blown Glass Figurine - Polar Bear' - by Daniel Vargas, Maestro glass blower, at Arte Vargas studio/gallery, Maple Ridge, BC. A most-enjoyable visit to CanWest Gallery -- with some lovely purchases, to-be lasting-memories of our stay, coming home with us. The prices seemed reasonable with comparable work found in the states. The owner/staff provided a friendly greeting and were respectfully quiet, but friendly & knowledgeable when engaged. I was most fortunate during our Harrison trip and stay last week to have considerable time to talk with both, catch up on some of their happenings, share memories, browse, and shop in their wonderrful place. I could not leave without purchasing some small gifts to remember our trip. And caught a Buddha for Mom (and lovely Nutcracker card to tuck away for Christmas), and a small, flower vase for daughter. The location of the shop was well-known, but the shop itself, a first time browsing/shopping experience. It's a small place, but sure fully-packed with offerings -- all sorts of 'stuff & such' -- from used clothing of all kinds (mens, womens, and children), to odds & ends of houseware, and such. The staff (owners) were great -- so friendly, informative, and caring about what they do, and the community services they provide. Daughter found a mug that she just had to have. Otherwise, we just browsed and enjoyed the sights, and our chats with the owners -- two fun visits worth.

During our most recent stay (of a few days/nights, late-May/14), dropping into Island Gifts was a much-enjoyed stop during my early-morning walkabouts. Unlike most shops in Harrison, it opens at 9:30am ... perfect for me, as I'm 'up, out, and about' rather early (and especially so for Harrison!!), and could conclude my various 'within' the village walkabouts with a stop there. It is geared to the tourists in town looking to catch something to take home to remember their stay, or small gifts to remember family or friends. There's a wide selection of offerings at all price points -- from very inexpensive, to not so, and a whole range in-between. And that includes a great selection of art cards by local, BC artist Sue Coleman. It's a fun place to drop in, take a look around, share some stories during your browsing, and whether you leave with a purchase or not, you can take home some fond memories of your stay in Harrison. Well, that's how this fine little shop works for me!!

'Muskwa Gallery' was a stop for outside photos, during an early-am walkabout daughter and I took…read morethroughout some downtown areas of Hope, the first morning of a recent stay. No in-store visits were possible during our stay this time, but we have dropped in a couple of times during previous 'weekday' trips (the gallery is not open for business on weekends). Though it's physically quite small in size, I recall the shop offered a rather wide-range, and large selection of various 'Native Art Crafts' - including original paintings, numbered prints, and drawings, wood carvings, and other crafted wood pieces (paddles, boxes, and such), wall hangings, silver jewellery, clothing, and so much more. I missed not getting into 'Muskwa Gallery' this trip. It's a colourful, small gallery & shop, with lots to see, and will be on my 'to do' list for the next stay in Hope.

The shop was closed when we first 'discovered' it, but open on a next day walkabout, and a chance for us to get inside, and catch a first-hand look at the offerings. We received great service from the host tending the store at the time we were there. She provided very friendly, informative, and accommodating help to all the questions re: what we were seeing. We came 'so close' to capturing a couple of crafted figures. We resisted this time -- thinking, the store's new, selections are so minimal -- let's wait a while until the shop and its offerings 'mature' a touch, and we get back for another look.

We were back to Artisans Attic for another browse and look about the shop during a recent…read morelate-March stay in Hope. As the last time when we entered this small shop, we were immediately impressed with how much "stuff & such" was on display. All wall spaces, tables, and shelves were filled with their unique, and colourful offerings of all kinds - very nicely-displayed, and presented to catch passing eyes! For daughter and I once again, the same variety and selections of crafts, gifts, and such as seen before. Of special note to me this visit though, was seeing the large collection of 'hand-painted glassware by Errol Brimacombe'. It was nice to see such a wide-selection of this Chilliwack artist's glassware pieces on display here (and my photo only shows pieces on the table, missing the others on shelves behind) The same wonderful aromas of their homemade fudges, gelato offerings, and other sweets filled the air, and added that same nice touch to the senses of our previous visit. We were happy to have had this chance for a return visit to this fine shop.
