So it was Easter and what do people do on Easter? Eat chocolate, that's right!…read moreAnd what better to do just that than right at the source: the Butler's Chocolate Factory. So I loaded the girls into the car and giggling like 8 year olds in clothes with the biggest pockets, off we went. We had pre-booked a special Easter tour which started with a short movie about...yes, chocolate...followed by the Easter bunny handing out chocolate eggs. The tour then led to the museum part of the factory which was quite informative. All along the way the staff gave out free chocolates so we left the Easter egg hunt that was also part of the tour to the small people. Next up was the factory. We didnt actually get to inside but they have a nice little set-up where you can overlook the whole production floor from a balcony. Taking pictures however is not permitted. The best part though, apart from all the chocolate sampling, was the 'decorate your own bunny' at the end. Each group got a plain milk chocolate bunny, a brush and some warm melted white chocolate to personalize your bunny. So much fun! This is a great activity not just for the small ones. The on-site Butler's cafe sells their usual gift boxes etc at a cheaper price also. Nice!

O'Mahony Meats is the business. I mean quite literally. They supply restaurants, shops and other…read morejoints with meat. The meat is prepared on premise and if you call ahead they can cut you any specific cut. We used to go there very regularly since the nearest shopping mall was just around the corner, so I was really disappointed when we moved to the South side. But they were really helpful and offered to deliver if we had a big order. The meat itself is just unreal. If you want the best steak ever, go and try their 21 days aged steak, You won't want anything else ever again... EVER. If they don't have any on display, just ask for it, they're always happy to cut something up for you, or have it in storage in the back of the shop. I also had ribs, whole chickens, pork shoulder, pork steaks and so on, and was never disappointed. Apart from the fresh meat you'll find some marinated products, but I've never tried those. Last but not least, they close fairly early on a Saturday and are closed on Sundays, so better make your way down early.

This has to be the best butchers around. Their meat is…read moreincredible, their service is like no other and the butchers themselves are so helpful and knowledgable. Fantastic value for money, a huge selection of meat, if it's not out just ask and they'll cut you a fresh piece. They go above and beyond, even carrying our bags out to our car, proper old school! They do all the boning on site, which means the meat is super fresh, and ask nicely, they'll even throw in some bones for the dogs! I won't go anywhere else for meat

All the vendors are super friendly and love to make conversation! Great way to spend a morning! The ambiance is very quaint and friendly! Overall a great atmosphere and way to buy. Thank you for the recommendation, Fodor's! (yes, I bought their travel guide like a true tourist.)…read more My friends and I wanted to try some Ireland oysters because we heard they were supposedly super fresh. We were running out of time on our hunt to find them when I realized, 'I've got my trusty guidebook!!' And that's how we ended up here. It was 12 Euros for 6 oysters and a glass of wine. Since there were four of us, the lady was nice enough to give us 4 cups of wine (yes, plastic cups - it's a farmer's market, what do you expect!) They even threw in an extra oyster! SO FRESH! SO BIG! (cue that's-what-she-said joke). Compared to NYC oysters, these babies looked like they were on steroids! They also have this dipping sauce (had onions and was really vinegar-y, but good. But if you don't like the sour, you should just take the oyster straight.) Didn't eat anything else from other stands because we just had lunch. However, I believe they had shish kebabs, crepes, and bread. Oh and FYI - Sheridans Cheesemongers was there (saw this place on Anthony Bourdain when he went to Dublin so thought this might be worth mentioning). Definitely check out this farmer's market!
