Emailed Nutter for a refinance of my home. Owe $194K- valued at $411k. 800+ credit score. John Williams took two days to respond via email and filled out the application online. He never returned my calls- never answered my emails. I sincerely believe this is a case of age discrimination as I am 68 years old. Very hard for this companies loan officer to get even 1 star! Be careful using one of the loan officers. ( K. Perkins ) she has been known to take advantage of a handicapped senior. Have all of the documentation to explain if requested. Also have the bank documents. Have a copy of a list made by that officer of funds that was taken from a handicapped senior. AVOID IF POSSIBLE! Please pass this note of appreciation on to Mr. Nutter. We recently refinanced our existing home loan with a new one with JB Nutter. We got a lower rate and were able eliminate/consolidate a high interest home improvement loan which was used to do renovations when we moved into the Brookside neighborhood five years ago. The process was quick and not cumbersome, and the staff was excellent and attentive. Exactly what you would expect from a "home town lender". Renovations have become a new and higher consideration during this "stay and work from home" pandemic. Please know there are more home owners like us in the Brookside/Armour Hills neighborhoods that would benefit from contacting JB Nutter for creative solutions for refinancing and home renovations and remodeling. I have been with JB for years and went to refi our home and the customer service was horrible. They strung us along for 3 months asking for things over and over again. When I emailed 2 different supervisors neither of them reached out. Go somewhere else!!! read more

Started out as a frustrating experience with an underwriter and spiraled downward into a full blown disaster. There was a problem with our title and Nutter refused to work with our title company except to pass blame back and forth. We received absolutely no communication from anyone at Nutter and had to reach out to them multiple times. This is a VA loan- they should NOT have the right to do business for the VA. Not satisfied with this company. They refused to correct my loans. I point out errors they still refused to correct them. They have caused me so much grief & unnecessary expenses. Hopefully someone will correct my loans. This company need a good audit I'm sure with my documents an atty will see all their errors made on both of my loan accounts. Very happy with my new loan. Lower interest rate then Quicken Loan, and very little expense to refinance with J.B. Nutter vs. a lot of money to refinance with Quicken Loans. I am very fortunate to have refinanced with J.B. Nutter then with Quicken Loans. I would recommend this company for any one looking for a loan. Was easy and quick to refinance with them. I received correct information on refinancing documents, whereas Quicken Loans documents had wrong amounts to refinance on them which I declined. read more

I do not recommend using this company. James B. Nutter owned a vacant condo next to mine. After a flooding incident, they were alerted that the unit was impacted. They never cleaned it up and it became infested with mold. My child and I became ill from mold exposure. We had to vacant our unit for months. Nutter told us they "cleaned up". We moved back in and were ill again. After being able to enter their vacant unit, I found black mold on the walls, floors and ceilings. They never properly remediated for mold. We had to vacant again. We have spent thousands of dollars in medical bills, remediating my property with proper mold remediation and been living out of home for a total of four months. We have been open for a solution to this problem with Nutter, but they do not want to remedy this problem in a quick fashion knowing there is a serious health issue as a result of the vacant property they known. My child and I have been ill and we recently lost our family pet. We have reached out to them repeatedly for four months with no success. If they are this reckless with a property they own, be cautious of how well they will treat your mortgages. They seem to have no regard for the health and safety of their Kansas City neighbors. read more

I got my original loan for my home purchase through JBN. It was a pretty good experience. I just got my refinance through them...it was AWFUL! I love using local companies, and I hate posting such a bad review. But I literally had to beg to get phone calls/emails returned. I won't ever be using them again. Such a disappointment. This bank is terrible. Dont bother inquiring about your checking and routing information over the phone, online, or even on the app. You will not find it. You have to physically go into the bank to ask for the checking and routing numbers. Any other bank you call and they ask you security questions to verify it is you and then disclose the routing and checking number, but not this bank. Also, the savings account SUCKS!!! It takes up to 1 business day to transfer from savings to checking. So, dont have any emergencies and need the money that day. Plan your emergencies carefully (sarcasm). This bank is a joke. Its so bad that i still bank with OneAz credit union and they are located in Arizona and i reside in Missouri. Do yourselves a favor and bank with ANYONE ELSE but this bank read more

I found this company very slow and unprofessiona, at times I had to do things they should have handled. They were not good at communicating or returning calls. The loan officer kept telling me to buy lottery ticket....funny 1st time but not 3rd or 4th. Took 2 months to close and would have taken longer if I had not been persistent. This is a bit painful but feel very important to let other consumers know. We have had a mortgage with James B Nutter well over 20 years and were never late. Our first home we refinanced with them as soon as my sister told me about them. They were great during that time. In fact, when we sold that home and purchased next home the minute we could change mortgage company to James B Nutter we did. I told everyone about them. Unfortunately, many things started going down hill for us really in 2008 with very very sick family members that I was taking care of but did not get the worst until 2015. After losing my oldest siblings that had raised me as I lost my parents when I was young, I lost my job because owner passed away. We went through savings, all the while I was searching for a job. I was being proactive in between trying to mourn and contacting everyone to include James B. Nutter begging for any kind of help. I asked if they could put some payments on back of loan. I asked if we could refinance. I had worked for the same company for 22 years and had nothing left. It should not matter but I am a College graduate with great work experience. I am loyal and trust worthy and always do more than my share or the work of 3 as most of my bosses have told me. It did not matter to James B. Nutter. Even though I had not been late on a payment once in over 15 years once I had a late payment they were all over me. I even contacted them first as I said earlier to be proactive. I almost had to be admitted to hospital because I fainted at work with some of the things they were calling me and saying and more or less threatening. One day a girl who seemed fairly young pretty much said "why don't you go elsewhere and refinance with another company." In other words, they did not want my business anymore. My great record for that many years meant nothing because I was as low as a person can go and well on my way to loseing my home. I finally got a job but we were several months behind. They offered no help, they stuck it to us with every late charge and fee they could charge. We finally got to where we can pay without late charge but doesn't matter because they are still adding on late charges from the months that we couldn't pay. The other day we went on line to pay as we always have and it would not allow us. It says after 14th you have to pay more but we were trying to pay before then and it wouldn't let us. We don't have a way to call much during day at work without getting in trouble at work so my husband snuck outside and they said they would make it where we could make payment but then it cost more like 6.00 to process because it was after the 14th. I am so hurt that unless you are on time, never lose a job, never have to take care of cancer patients that happen to be your elderly family members, never have hardship then James B Nutter likes you but once you are having hard times and it seems like it's never going to get better they WILL not help you. I want to make sure all consumer agencies are aware of this situation and over the last few years how much James B Nutter has been sticking it to us to include thousands in mortgage insurance premiums. We have lost thousands in fees and may never get better. I have worked my entire life and never asked anyone for anything. We didn't expect hand out but this has been a utter nightmare that has almost landed me in the hospital with worry and stress. Our house isn't even upside down and still no help. How do you call yourself a family business and to me anyone that has been your customer for 20 years should be considered family. I am putting entire story in document to send to delegate, BBB, and many other consumer agencies because you should know JAMES B NUTTER looks out for themselves and nothing to help you. You should look elsewhere. The loan processors (the one I worked with) are incompetent paper pushers. They require you pay $500 up front for an appraiser of their choice, then low ball on the appraisal (in my case 130,000 below estimates by several realtors, 140,000 below Zillow, and just slightly above tax assessment from 3 years past and is generally 80% of fair market value, and $60,000 below a house across the street that just sold (it is in the same condition and has 2 fewer bedrooms and 2.5 fewer bathrooms. Of course they can still do the deal you just need to come up with another $1,000. Not interested? You just lost $500. read more
