Let me start by saying Nura has the most beautiful, soothing soul. I literally feel relaxed the second I walk in her space. I have been having mid back problems from a low grade of scoliosis since last August and have tried stretches, massages and a chiropractor and nothing worked. I'm one of those people that always thought about acupuncture but never did it. Then one day a small pain in my lower back turned into an annoyance and then debilitating nerve pain down my left leg. It was so bad that I bought a cane. Yup...here I am turning 49 soon and I have a cane. At least it was foldable and had what my son called, "a cool light that I can use at night so I won't have to turn the lights on". I finally went to my doctors and she prescribed meds and a visit to a back specialist... which I couldn't get an appointment until two weeks out. So my wife searches for an acupuncturist for me to try and she finds Nura. I admit that I went in still a bit skeptical about this whole thing. However, Nura was very welcoming and made me feel relaxed right away. She did acupuncture, active release massage, electrical muscle stimulation, and the cups. Afterwards as I was sitting there about to get off the table, I was hesitating because I was expecting to feel the shooting nerve pain but there was no shooting pain. OMG it actually worked! As I walked to my car, the sky was blue, the birds were singing, annnnd...okay...so it was the standard overcast San Francisco weather but that was the best walk I've had in weeks. I've been back two more times and I've walked all over Six Flags one weekend and then all over Las Vegas another weekend without any pain. I've even stopped taking the prescription pain killers. Onto the logistics of the review. Parking is either metered or 2 hour parking along the side streets. The building is in the middle of the block so parking toward either corner makes for an easier walk across the street. She is located on the second floor. The waiting area has a few chairs around the perimeter with enough reading material to keep you interested. One thing to note for the folks that can't stay away from their smartphones...cell signal is spotty...at least for AT&T users. Which is not such a bad thing since you're technically there to de-stress. read more

I was having some pretty significant back and leg pain that kind of came out of nowhere. It was affecting my sleep and I started popping Advil, which wasn't helping. I've tried acupuncture in the past and had good success with it, so I searched for a practitioner in Marin who could hopefully bring relief. Luckily I found Nura, who has a nice studio in Corte Madera. She takes Covid precautions seriously, which I appreciated. The acupuncture session was unrushed and thorough, with just the right number of needles and electrical stimulation. I felt relief soon after, and within several days the pain was completely gone and hasn't returned for several weeks now. The next time I have pain issues, Nura will be my first call. read more

I wanted to write this review much earlier, but it simply slid off my Want-To-Do list, but here it is: I purchased a session via Groupon last year around Christmas and got an appt. quickly and easily. When I arrived for my treatment, we discussed the issues I was experiencing; extreme neck & shoulder pain. Nura said we should combine the acupuncture treatment with some massage. I felt a tremendous amount of relief already after the massage and was floating on clouds by the time the acupuncture treatment concluded. It was so effective. My healthcare provider covers acupuncture treatments, but unfortunately, Nura is not in their network. I would definitely have continued with Nura if she were. read more

BUYER BEWARE, esp. if you're a Groupon customer: Of all the masseuses with whom I've worked, this one stands out as a true disappointment. After first reaching out to Nora via the email listed on her web site, she did not respond for a week--and only because I bumped the original email. It was at that point that she told me that she only sees two Groupon clients a day (I had purchased a Groupon) and that her first availability was in mid-April--which is close to when the Groupon expires. She also told me to call her, so I decided to give scheduling a try. The nature of my work is such that calls are difficult to make and answer during the day, so I asked her if we could coordinate over email rather than play phone tag. Although she has her email address listed on her web site and a "contact us" form on there by which you are asked for your email (suggesting that she does do email), she said she does not coordinate appointments over email. She also told me that she does not have availability on weekends. For those of us who work on the weekdays, I'm not sure where that leaves us. This was particularly vexing since her hours are not listed on her web site, and in my original email two weeks ago, I had mentioned that I was looking for a weekend appointment, such that she could have reset expectations with me, then. Why she doesn't set the expectations re: no email, her limited availability for Groupon customers and her unavailability on weekends on her web site honestly baffles me, given that I'm sure she receives multiple inquiries on this every day. I forgot to mention that along the way, she offered to have set me up for appointments without the Groupon at her regular cost before mid-April. This--combined with the fact that her Groupon availability doesn't begin until around the date of expiration--seems to imply intentional misleading on her part in order to drive business at her regular price. read more

Sure she's very talented and treats her full-paying clients with respect but if you are thinking of buying a Groupon - do not bother - if your schedule is not carved in stone. If you bought one, make sure you know this - you are looking at a 3 month waiting list and by then, your voucher will have expired. If you need to reschedule at any time - that is another 3 months. I have been going to Nura now for about a month or so ( 3 treatments) for acupuncture. I've suffered from chronic migraines and tension headaches my whole life and recently, about 2-3 months ago, my headaches started getting worse. By worse I mean stronger and longer, much longer. I was suffering from headaches at least 4-5 times a week, if not everyday, and it wasn't getting any better. After a doctors visit and the usually " oh let me prescribe you this and that to make them go away temporarily," I finally had had enough of the pills and decided to make a change of my own. My doctor had recommended acupuncture or any method of trying to reduce stress from my life and so I researched and found Nura through all of these amazing reviews below. Let's just say they weren't lying. About a week or so before meeting with Nura, I also decided to make a drastic change in my diet. At this point, the headaches were getting so bad that I needed to try anything to help reduce the pain. I thought my diet was probably a primary reason behind the headaches so that was the first thing I changed. When I finally met with Nura for my first session, I instantly felt comfortable and helped. She listened to every little detail I told her, from my terrible diet habits to my long history of headaches, and after about an hour of talking to her, she really seemed eager and ready to take on the challenge. She was so positive about the possibility of reducing the pain that it just made me feel like it was finally the end to all of this. After the 3 sessions of acupuncture, I have a seen and felt an EXTREME change in my body. Not only have I not had headaches, but I have also felt more energized and my mood has been a lot better. I can actually handle a stressful day without finishing my day with an awful migraine. I truly think Nura has a magic touch. Every session I go to I instantly feel relieved and most importantly comfortable. She is extremely easy to talk to and gives you so much feedback about what changes would be good for your body. Everyone is different, and she definitely makes a point to address that, which is why I love that she has been so thoughtful about helping me. Everytime I go she asks how my eating habits have been, if I'm hydrating enough, and if anything has changed recently. With about a week apart for each session, these are questions that I feel most would not really bother asking, because of the short period of time for change. But she asks. She asks about your body, your mind, and your feelings. I have never felt this much attention from any doctor before, and trust me I have gone to many. I definitely feel that her treatments combined with a better diet have helped so much. She's also helped a lot with actually keeping me on track with my diet changes because she is consistently asking questions and giving tips! I wanted to support Nura McCauley's practice as an Acupuncuturist. I came to Nura months ago with severe Bronchitis and was feeling fairly miserable for a few weeks. I have had bouts of Bronchitis for years, since I used to be a smoker. Nura treated me with herbs and Acupuncture. I felt so taken care of her. She is so comforting and made me feel relaxed and cared for, which is also what I needed. I love the "heated" massage table where she wraps me up with a comfy blanket and it is quiet and I feel renewed and refreshed. The needles are fairly small, so there is no pain. I noticed that after my first treatment, I started to feel better. With the addition of herbs, I felt stronger and my immune system has become stronger and since my initial visit, I have felt generally healthier and am no longer getting sick, even though there are many people at my job, that are frequently ill. Also, she is such a genuine soul, that you end up feeling nurtured during the time you are there. I gave Nura's work a five star rating because I think she deserves a six. read more

I have been seeing Nura for my upper back and low back pain due to increase stress from work and not able to exercise much. Nura was able to relieve my back pain with a few session of acupuncture. She does massage in the beginning of her session and then acupuncture. If you ever had acupuncture or massage before, when you are faced down on the massage table for some duration of time your nose may get itchy and you can't scratch it. You ring the bell that Nura gives you and she will come into the room to attend to you. I have had other acupuncturist who told me to just deal with it. I initially came to Nura upon the recommendation of my chiropractor, who was recommending massage in addition to some pretty serious adjustment work. With a locked SI joint on one side and a hyperextended one on the other, my traipse over the pain threshhold was INTENSE. Nura's massages were an excellent complement to the work my physician was doing, and I felt so confident in her care that I decided the next step into acupuncture would be a good one. It was my first time, and I can't say enough good things! The lower back pain was immediately lessened by the first appointment, and gone by the second. First of all, I LOVE me my massages! I bought a Groupon with the hopes of finding a talented and skilled massage therapist. But, like others have said, with a Groupon the wait is VERY VERY LONG. I got my appointment, walked into the office and was ignored by the woman at the reception desk. No looking up to see who walked in, no greeting, nothing. Nura is very friendly and greeted me with a smile, but the massage was merely okay. I wanted something great and maybe that was the problem. It was a good massage for the price, but I'm still looking for a massage therapist for when I'm in SF. Actually, I'm not, I will stick wtih La Biang Thai which is FABULOUS and where I've been able to book a same day appointment at times! No long wait there! read more
