When planning an out of town visit we were a bit worried. Our rescue kitty had never been left alone for an extended period of time. We reached out to Nunn Better and set up an in person consultation. We found them to be very compassionate and understanding of our anxiousness about leaving the kitty alone. Additionally the cat, who is comedically aloof, came trotting right over to them and get some pets. We booked them for twice a day visits. We got daily check ins and some pics while we were gone. Nunn Better gave us peace of mind and took great care of our home and pets. We recommend them wholeheartedly. read more

Nunn Better Pet Care - Our beastie kitty - Pet Services Near Me

Nunn Better has been a godsend for my family this past year. My husband works 12-hour days, so if I need to leave town for work, that's a lot of time for our pups to be home without bathroom (backyard) access. Seneca (the owner) has been our go-to sitter from the start and looking in on them every time I travel. She's wonderful about sending updates and photos of my boys every time she's here. One of my dogs has some newly diagnosed health issues, but Seneca is medically-trained and has a wealth of experience, so I never worry when they're in her capable and loving care. My house is always cleaner after she leaves and my dogs absolutely adore Seneca. I can't recommend Nunn Better enough. read more

I have used Nunn Better since I believe 2017. I first had Linda as my babysitter, then Carol, now Ozzie. They were all good sitters though I think Carol was the best. I have never had any problems with them. Of course, I worried the first time I left but all worked well. Thank you for letting us go on our little vacations. I really appreciate your work with my cats. read more

The best full service pet care providers in the 85704! My timid pandemic puppy is now a confident, thriving dog thanks to Nunn Better!

I used this company and trusted this business until they hired a woman who stole from our home, went through everything and stole a lot of things. We no longer trust this company, even when desperate last year, we ended up begging our vet to take our pets, where we knew they would be well cared for anyway. It was better than having a thief getting inside access to our home while we were gone. That girls name was Stephanie and we thought we could trust her, and we cannot replace the things she stole, some were heirlooms and some were from our travels and some were personal things. Sorry but - nope! can't bring myself to hiring this business again. Once bitten; twice shy. Sorry to have to share this but we want to go on vacation knowing we can 'trust' that our pets are safe and house won't be ransacked or someone snooping in my home. Sad this is really. She has 1800 customers now, but not us anymore. The owner is nice but who they hire is an issue. Beware and I don't know how to trust someone new either. read more

We've been using Nunn Better for many years. They do the fun stuff - play with the cat, check food and water dishes, sift the litter box. They also check for mail in our mail box, flush toilets, water plants, and do whatever else we request when we are away. Honest, friendly, and reliable. read more

We recently hired Nunn Better to take care of our 3 dogs while we were on a houseboat trip. Let me first say that Daphne was wonderful! She came out to meet our dogs, and we signed the contract with her. However, at that same time, she told us that she would be unavailable the weekend of our trip so another employee would be caring for the dogs. Daphne told us that the other employee would come out prior to us leaving to meet the dogs and get familiar, but this never happened. We received a call from Daphne the very first day informing us that Bill did not feel comfortable with one of our dogs (OJ- the pitbull). She said she ended up going out with Bill to feed the dogs, and all was well, but asked if we could have someone else cover on Saturday, then she would return for the last day Sunday (no mention of a dog bite). We made arrangements with my Dad to come out, and I left a voicemail with Seneca that Saturday was covered, but I was disappointed that the first day there was already a problem. Seneca texted me later (no phone call) and completely voluptuated the entire story. Seneca stated via text that OJ attacked Bill, bit his leg, broke the skin, and humped on his leg. She continued that we were "lucky" that she did not report us, and also stated that OJ being un-neutered made him "unsafe". She took no responsibility for the situation, and even stated we owed them an apology. She also made a big deal that they gave our dogs treats that they provided. I had my Dad end up covering the remainder of our trip, since Seneca was unavailable to discuss the situation over the phone like a professional business woman should have done. OJ, although intimidating in size and his bark, is the gentlest dog and would not harm anyone. I also stated to Seneca that he responds well to commands (sit- HELLO!!). I believe Bill and Seneca may have a pre-conceived notion that pitbulls are dangerous dogs. Daphne's story and note that she left at the house do not coincide with Seneca's account of what happened at all. I texted Seneca that we were back, but we needed to talk about the payment and experience. She texted me back saying she returned our check. She never apologized for the inconvenience, or took any responsibility for failing to do the job we hired them for. I would hire Daphne if she had her own business, but not as long as she is with Seneca & Nunn Better. read more

If I could give no stars I would. We left our two kitties in the care of Nunn Better 3 times. The first two times was with Betsy who we loved and we could tell she really cared for our girls. But the third time was with a new sitter Cathy who made it very clear she was great pals with Seneca for many years (which I could care less about) and claimed she was very knowledgeable of pets with diabetes. Well she was not. Cathy was in charge of our Lily for less than 24 hours and in that time managed to overdose her on insulin and kill her. And what's worse is that neither Cathy or Seneca took any responsibility for this even though the emergency vet told us Lily died from a glucose level so low it was undetectable, or in other words an insulin overdose. When I finally confronted Seneca about this situation after the initial shock she did not deny my accusation. Her cold and unfeeling approach to this whole scenario has been mind boggling. We received no phone calls. Just texts. The "condolence" card had icicles on it it was so cold and insincere. Nothing will bring Lily back including posting this review but I had to post this to warn potential clients that Seneca is a very heartless person who has no concern for the loving care of your beloved pets. read more

If we could give them more than 5 stars, we would. We have 2 cats. You would think, not a big deal to watch but we've had terrible pest sitting experiences in the past. Not with Nunn Better! The sitters were amazing. Played with our cats, had daily notes, sent pictures and texts, brushed our cats. Our kitties had such amazing care. Nunn Better has a life long client with us. Thanks for taking such great care of our pets! read more

So glad we found Nunn Better to take care of our pups!!! We've now used them two different times to watch our 3 dogs and stay at our house while we were away. Daphnie was sent out to do a very thorough interview and to take notes on all the specifics before we left on our first trip. We returned home both times to happy doggies and a home in the same condition as we left it. Thanks Daphnie & Seneca!!! We'll be using you from now on. read more

Being from Philadelphia and only being in Tucson temporarily (from October to December), we weren't sure who we could trust enough to watch our pup while we had to fly out of state for Thanksgiving. To make things even more complicated, our sweet pup had recently been diagnosed with a mild case of Valley Fever and needed medications given to her twice per day. I told the veterinarian at Twin Peaks Vet about our predicament as we were there for our dog's appointment and they gave us Nunn Better's contact info and said they came highly recommended and were used by many of their clients. I called Seneca a few days before we had to leave as this was when I had received her contact info and I explained to her that we were in a pinch and were very paranoid about leaving our dog this time around, so much so I had considered canceling the trip. We've had bad experiences with DogVacay, now Rover, in the past and will never use them again seeing as they aren't licensed or certified in any way. Upon speaking to Seneca, I could tell she knew her stuff. She's obviously been doing this a long time and clearly just loves what she does. She made me feel 100% at ease, which, admittedly, is quite a feat with the paranoid dog mom that I am. She was able to fit me in thankfully and scheduled a consultation to meet me that night at the place we've been staying. We scheduled her to come 2-3x/day depending on the day. Seneca went above and beyond our expectations. She sent us regular detailed text updates per day with loads of pictures! She administered the meds our dog needed as well. She kept a detailed paper log of every visit with our pup and left it at our place for us to read. She snuggled with our pup, sat out on the porch and read with our dog, played with her, and made her feel loved. Seneca provided and left cleaning supplies for a little tinkle our pup took when she was excited one day, which she didn't have to do! Our dog was so happy to see us when we came and was obviously taken care of and in good spirits. We couldn't stop talking about how we will never go to any other dog sitting business again (when we are in this area). We wish Seneca would just move near us when we inevitably have to leave Arizona in December because now we do not want anyone else to take care of our pup but her! She provided us with something that is absolutely priceless and that's the peace of mind we needed to not drive ourselves crazy with anxiety on the rare occasions we cannot take our dog with us somewhere. 110% recommend Nunn Better to any pet owner who wants the absolute best for their babies. read more

Seneca at Nunn Better pet is the best! I've had to leave my precious fur kid several times in the last couple months and she has been everything I could hope for in a sitter! Not only does she do all the necessary things to take care of your pet, but she keeps you updated with texts and occasional pictures. She leaves notes each day saying what she did and how your pet reacted that day. I would recommend her to anyone looking for an in home pet sitter! My wife, myself, and our 4 children took an 8-day-long road trip, leaving the day after Christmas. The pets in our house: 3 cats and 3 fish. Seneca was great, easy to deal with, and thoroughly professional. Daphne came out to interview us about the ourselves, the state of the house, our trip, the animals and their needs, and we left. To make a long story short, I doubt we could have made the pets any happier or healthier had we been there ourselves. In addition, Daphne (who obviously just LOVES animals) emailed us, sent pet pictures, and left a thorough written log for us to check over, after we got back home. We never worried about the pets at all; it was obvious they were in really good hands. ...and the prices are very reasonable. In short: They (Nunn Better and staff) are as good as it gets. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. read more

We used them for a while and for the most part had no problems. It only takes one time, though, to give a bad impression. We had scheduled a service one weekend and before I could pay, got an email from Seneca that she would no longer be sending the sitters she had out to the house. She claimed that there had been recent visits where the sitters were still at the house when we arrived home or arrived at the house before we left and claimed we had been rude to them (this never happened - we always either apologized for running late leaving or arriving home early if the sitter crossed paths with us and never once responded to them rudely). She complained that we had a treadmill in front of our backyard sliding glass door, but had never once asked us if we could move it to make it easier going in and out. We told her that our puppies at the time could be walked in our yards, but not through the neighborhood, as they were still in the process of getting all of their shots - so why they didn't just put the puppies on leashes and take them in the front yard is beyond me. The climax of the email was when she implied that she was more knowledgeable about animal health and safety than my wife who has been a veterinarian for 20 years and was taking care of various animals for most of her childhood. She flipped out over my wife using the same water/bleach solution to clean our puppy cage that is used at every vet clinic my wife has ever worked to clean cages, even when puppies are being boarded there on a long-term basis. It was pretty clear that the problem was actually that Seneca wanted to shrink her service area, as she was also complaining about how far a drive our house was. Instead of being professional about it and changing her website to reflect the smaller service area, or giving us advanced notice of this, she attempted to make up something up to make us look like the cause. Would not recommend them. We found another pet sitter and have had a much more pleasant experience read more

I will never use them again. Easy job = good reviews (indoors, play, feed, clean, frankly any pet lover can do that), but if you have something challenging, forget it, plus they were quite rude to me, and I did not trigger that attitude, I love animals I am not a rude person. Their professional comments seemed to be quite different than what they really think of your place, I was judged. They charged more afterwards because they said they had to spend more time than planned. My dogs did not like the sitter, they escaped a couple of times even though she insisted they liked her. They have escaped in the past, and all my neighbors attend them and love them, but they have never escaped the way it happened with her. The comments left where "I like the sunset"... I don't really care, I want to know about my babies like my other sitter writes. Their emails was full of capitalization like yelling at me. I was told there would be no communication unless I call or if there was a major problem. Sure enough I have a mail at the end of assignment - which greatly stressed me - about all the things they did not like to do. When the sitter says she had a hard time opening gate holding the two dogs I asked why she would not open the gate first and get the dogs next... this is a quote from her mail "why would I walk all the way down from the house, open the gate, walk all the way back UP to the house, and then take the dogs down to walk back up the hill??" . There is about 50 feet from house to gate. It hurt me to even dig their emails out. I'd rather not leave than being stressed, judged and yelled at like that. And beware, anything goes wrong, you might get a lawsuit on your back, as I read there were threats before. Not a surprise. read more

Seneca, Betsy, Cathy and the entire Nunn Better team have been a blessing to my husband and I, as we brought a new fur baby into our lives! The sitters are thorough, detail-oriented, loving, patient, organized, and so responsible. Seneca does everything she can to meet my last minute visit and overnight requests. It is so comforting to know that our puppy will receive such loving care, personalized just for him, when we can't be home with him. The detailed documentation of visits I find waiting for me at home and the photo texts I receive shortly after each visit are just a couple of the ways this service stands out above the rest. Knowing that our pup is in such good hands with sitters who know him well makes being away from our little guy so much more manageable. I have never completed a Yelp review, but truly felt inclined to do so with Nunn Better for going above and beyond in so many ways. I would highly, highly, highly, recommend Nunn Better!!! read more
