'Department store' doesn't quite do this place justice. There are ten businesses working from one set of premises: A kind of co-operative where business owners take turns to run the shop. It's a model that works well and other crafty types could well make their profits rise by following suit, while freeing up their time to create and enjoy life rather than being tethered to a counter.
Housing homewares, furnishings, jewellery, designer second-hand clothes, and toys it's a well-browseable shop. My favourite sections were Point Vintage (run by James, on 07752 47 3275) and The Doll's Garden, (run by Andrea, on 07943 699 310)
The former had retro 80s milk bottles, nik-naks, and wares labelled in a familiar manner like 'Tacky Seaside Plate', and under it another labelled 'Really Tacky Seaside Plate'! James has a great deal of furniture on his ebay store too, showin g his nous by vending bulkier items through an alternative medium.
Andrea makes 'cushions for animal owners in the image of their beloved pet' and makes look-a-like dolls too for humans! Both are created from a photo supplied by the client.
The emphasis in this store is on quality high-end pieces. Having said that there are some delights in here that won't break the bank. read more
