This is a sweet (pun intended) family owned high end chocolate shop where a truffle is about $5 and the chocolate bars are about $10 or more (many are single origin). We got three truffles, raspberry, peppermint and candied ginger. We also got a French hot chocolate (made with half a bar of chocolate and whole milk, as opposed to the sipping chocolate which is made from half a bar of chocolate and heavy cream!) It was so rich and delicious! The staff was full of information about the offerings, although they seemed only mildly interested in sharing their wisdom on this particular day. They aren't currently letting folks sit inside to eat and drink (they have signage that shares that they have a little one with chronic illness who they are trying to keep healthy) but they have a few chairs and tables outside and it was a lovely day so that is exactly what we did! For a person looking for inexpensive okay chocolate, keep walking but for those with discerning taste buds- you are in for a special treat! read more

I've been here several times & really enjoyed it. Today was the most bizarre experience. We arrived 45 minutes before close & the store was not busy. The woman waiting on us was rude and unhelpful. (Short bleach blond hair, named Deo). When we arrived she said they had drinks available & then declined to make them as it was 30 minutes to close. They also declined offering flights. I asked which truffles were most popular and she said they did not track that information & also declined to say which was her favorite. She blamed new management for the lack of flights & early shut down of drinks. We love supporting local businesses, especially bean to bar/farm to table. We won't be back. read more

Well to be honest I don't remember exactly what flavored of truffles I picked here to eat. But I do know out of the three that I picked they were all top notch, smooth, elegant and exquisite. I ducked in here during the ebbing days of summer and after making my purchase I realized that they weren't allowing customers to eat or drink inside. This was due to a covid precaution. So I ate outside at the table they had out there. Now I know chocolate truffles and summer heat don't mix so I made haste... but not too much haste in enjoying my truffles out in the warm weather. I felt a little like I was walking into Willy Wonka land when I came here! It just felt magical...I was happy to know they had some vegan truffles! I had the rose habanero, coconut, toasted almond & one other - all delicious! I was also pleased that they could make their sipping chocolate with oat milk so it would be vegan. It wasn't cheap! Dude, this place is amazing. The dude serving us was already on point with a lot of knowledge of the place and what they do. He broke down a lot of the fact they do local colleborations and and teams. First off, we got a truffle and it was beyond amazing. Rich, dark chocolate ball of orgasmic flavor. We decided to pick up a few bars that use spirits with its flavor. The cherry whiskey was probably the best bar we got. Only real probalem is their prices, they are up there. Oh Nuance...where to begin! This spot has me writing love letters in my head. I came for the rich warm and delicious sipping chocolate and ended up trying the French Style Hot Chocolate. There is currently no indoor seating available and masks are encouraged so we got out cocoa to go this time around. We tried the spiced hot chocolate option and it was perfect to hold onto and sip as we walked around Old Town. When they do have indoor seating available, Nuance offers chocolate flights that are to die for and let you taste a variety of their wonderful small-batch chocolates. Everyone working is knowledgeable and friendly and service is quick. Looking forward to the return of flights but am more than happy to stop by for chocolates to go in the meantime! read more

On a grand tour of Wyoming and Colorado chocolatiers, Nuance was far and away the highest quality and tastiest maker of my most favorite of foods. Where the vast majority of these shops simply make their chocolates in house (if that!), Nuance crafts their own bean to bar chocolate, then uses that same chocolate to create giant and absolutely delectable ganache based truffles! The latter were my reason for seeking out Nuance, but once in the shop, I was astounded to see nearly 50 different bars! They have everything from single origin to inclusion or flavored varieties, milk, and even white. I had to try Chantilly Cream, a milk chocolate made with cream instead of milk (!!!), but there were plenty other varieties that caught my attention: glazed coconut, goat milk, coffee and cream, even a whole line infused with whiskies. They also offer bitters, brewing chocolate, various coffees and cocoas, even nibs. I took home a bag of nibs, and have been enjoying them over fruit and yogurt daily. I eat a lot of cacao nibs, and these are some of the best I have had. While their website advertises a limited selection of truffles, in store I had my choice of 20+. I selected six, but had I known what a dream they would be, definitely would have gotten more! As it is, I have sadly finished them within a week! All were stunningly rich and not-too-sweet, but if forced to choose favorites, I would say Peanut Butter, Toasted Almond and Apricot, and Honey & Lavender win Best in Show. Of note, some are even dairy free for your vegan friends! Prices are $8.50 to $12.50 for bars, $3.80 for truffles, and pretty standard to the market for everything else. The humble craft paper box is so sweet and rustic with it's crimson raffia bow, and I appreciated the time the employees took to note the variety of each truffle for future reference. There is a little seating outside, and they offer curbside pickup, too. They took social distancing very seriously, only allowing three customers in the store at a time. My only regret was hearing someone order a toffee truffle, and realizing I had somehow missed out on that? How?! I suppose I'll just have to travel back to Colorado sometime to get one. I'm ashamed to say this was my first time visiting Nuance, despite it being on my list since I arrived in Fort Collins 4 years ago. I can't believe I've been missing out on this magical place for so long. What I didn't realize initially is that Nuance is one of the only chocolate shops in the country that actually produces their chocolate from bean to bar! How cool is that?! Their French style hot chocolate as well as sipping chocolate are outrageously delicious and a great showcase of the rich flavors. AND they offer vegan options (vegan oat milk as well as vegan chocolate) for those drinks! I had walked in there fully expecting to bend the rules of veganism in the interest of satisfying my sweet tooth, but it was such a treat to be accommodated. My partner and I took one sip of our respective drinks (the French hot cocoa and the sipping chocolate) and let out an "Ohhhh my god" in unison, pleasantly surprised by just how tasty these drinks were. Nuance has a delicious drinking chocolate. It's smooth and rich and one of the best I've ever had. When we were there they were not serving a flight. Oh. My. God. I've never been this conflicted about the location of a shop. Let me explain. I'm so incredibly upset that I live all the way in Parker and this gorgeous chocolate shop is in Fort Collins... But as a chocolate nerd I'm also kinda glad I have 1.5 hours between me and this shop because otherwise I'd be here pretty much every other day sampling everything they got! Everything we had from here during our short trip to Fort Collins has been amazing! Honestly the entire trip to Fort Collins was worth it just for the experience we had at Nuance. As other reviewers have mentioned and I've added to my photos on this review, Nuance makes all chocolates they sell on site in small batches. They roast their own cacao beans as well, use no artificial stuff in the making, and have an amazing collection of single origin chocolate bars that any chocolate lover would go crazy over. We had 4 truffles (they're huge) and so far tried two of them: honey/lavendar and Amor - latter has been our favorite and is probably the spiciest truffle I've ever had but it had the perfect amount of heat to it. We also got two single origin bars (so excited to try them!) but the highlight for us so far was the hot chocolate we got from Nuance. They have a few options - you can go with the usual cocoa hot chocolate... Or you can literally get half a chocolate bar melted and mixed with milk or cream (depending on whether you're going for sipping hot chocolate vs the regular) and die of happiness and ultimate chocolate experience! It was the perfect hot chocolate for us and the level of sweetness it had was just right as well. So yeah, like I said... Super sad Nuance is far away from where I live but also kinda glad so I'm not gaining way too much weight and spending all my money on chocolate but man it'd be so worth it! We headed to the Nuance Chocolate shop recently and had fun picking out a half dozen truffles to take home and share. They only allow two customers inside at a time so we talked to the owner for a bit outside before going in. He is the nicest guy! I guess if you work with the sweetest ingredients, you can't help but be sweet yourself. There are so many choices and part of the fun is choosing. They are patient with your choices and you never feel rushed. We ended up with truffles and also added a wrapped candy bar for good measure. Walking around Old Town Ft Collins this weekend, we thought we'd checkout this little chocolate shoppe we spotted. When we walked inside we were greeted right away by one of the gals behind the counter, and given info about the kinds of chocolates and how things were made. They have a bunch of truffles, chocolate bars and sipping chocolates. I decided to try one of the milk chocolate with almond bars. I loved how they looked, the packaging and the chocolate bar. I wasn't blown away by the chocolate itself, maybe I am more used to a sweeter tasting milk chocolate, but it is just okay flavor-wise. For almost $10 for a chocolate bar I was expecting to love it. My friend got some truffles and liked those, and my other friend said good things about the sipping chocolate. I'll have to try that next time! The staff were all super friendly and very knowledgeable/helpful, and the interior is very cute. I am sure we will be back! read more

My father and step mother introduced us to Nuance with a gift of a collection of bars of chocolate. They were a mixture of single origin chocolates and I had never given much thought to how good single-origin chocolate can be like a fine wine. Each region gives the chocolate its own character. For my 50th birthday, my husband made a special order of chocolates and included some truffles. We live in Chicago and the truffles came perfectly packed and arrived faster than we expected. We were visiting our friends in Fort Collins and hey nonchalantly mentioned this place that has "good chocolate." It's not "good" chocolate, this chocolate is amazing and perhaps something you would guard your life with!! I mean, it's the best melt-in-your-mouth with many different flavor explosions chocolate i've ever had, and I didn't even get anything fancy - just chocolate bars! I got the Costa Rica and the Vanilla Bean flavored one, but I literally wanted to buy everything. I thought the price was good for this high quality chocolate, and the service was on point as well. Tried 3 different kinds and was overwhelmed with a chocolate glob which was supposed to have essences of other flavors but they were all were so overpowered by the thick semi sweet chocolate.
