Recovery you get what you put into it. I was there 5 years ago and great counselors and program. Been sober ever since.

For more about my circumstances you may see my review of Courage Kenny Abbott Northwestern (a…read morerelated facility formerly known as Sister Kenny Institute) if you wish. But this is a review of Courage Kenny Golden Valley (formerly Courage Center). I was an in-patient in their Transitional Rehabilitation Program (TRP) from sometime in mid-April until June 7th, 2019. I came from Courage Kenny ANW) in a stable but still very dependent state. I was still wheelchair bound for example. Again, I choose to not omit staff so will make only general observations. That said, whether PT, OT, SLP, Doctors, Nurses, PAs, Social Workers and all others they were very well trained, could both push and support you and I found them to be engaging while professional. In my opinion, just exceptional in every aspect. Unlike stays at previous places, I had a roommate. But in my case this was mitigated by having what amounted to an alcove all to myself. Additionally, this location distinguished itself by not being a hospital or hospital based. Breakfast was served on individual trays in an informal setting. Lunch and dinner were both cafeteria style and for these we gathered in a more formal but still communal dining area that, when the weather cooperated spilled out to an adjacent patio. Good views of nearby Theodore Wirth golf course were available indoors or out. It was great to witness golfers arrive in the Spring as regular as Robins. The entire campus sprawls over acres of well maintained, beautiful grounds. A bridge spans Bassett Creek and it was at its apex that I can recall getting out of my wheelchair and standing unassisted for the first time in what seemed a long time. Another way this campus differs from a hospital is that, when safe, they encourage field trips. These could be to a Doctor's appointment, various meals or celebrations or just to get away for a few hours. A PT will briefly orient the given driver and if you can get in and out of the vehicle you're good to go. In any case, after six months of institutional care the last of which was this place, I was discharged on June 7th, 2019 and returned home. Any trepidation I may have had was largely allayed when a PT and OT together visited my home (relatively nearby) to make some safety recommendations. As a result, among other changes I had ralis and grab bars installed in several locations throughout the house. I entered into home care (a phase I decided to call The Mountain Comes to Muhammed) coordinated through Courage Kenny. I was visited by PT, OT and Speech Therapists, Social Workers and Nurses. Although different, they too were top-notch. Finally I entered what I choose to call (you guessed it) the Muhammed Goes to The Mountain phase, namely out-patient care. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the staff were across the board superb. If I am to safely walk unassisted or am assessed ready to resume driving, I don't think that I could be in better hands.

Had a driver test several months ago and it was very bad. Did not actually test any drivers skills…read morebut rather was a cursory drive around the neighborhood and the evaluation was pretty bad. Overly critical of minor issues with no real time feedback. Just a synopsis that I didn't pass and that was it. Not impressed at all.

This place is doing the absolute minimum to protect my elderly relative, saying their hands are tied. What they are doing are trying to cover their own butts. This is not the first interaction we have had with St. Therese Nursing Home, and in fact I previously worked at the Nursing home in New Hope. Avoid this place like the plague!During a visit in trying to protect our relative, I had my first ever panic attack (yes, this place has caused me this much distress), and instead of calling me medical attention, they called security and the sheriff to escort me out! During the middle of a panic attack where I could not move my seized hands or legs! This place is disgusting.

Upon arriving the check in was fast, Katy checked me in, was super kind, and informative. I had a cup of water before my massage and Sierra came to grab me pretty quickly. Prior to my massage she checked in with me regarding what I wanted work on, the intensity of the massage, deep tissue massage, and the use of hot stones. I think she did a good job of informing me of what was happening as it was happening. My one comment would be a little bit of small talk to help ease customers into comfort if they're new to massages. I will say the unique thing about this massage was it felt like she utilized holistic approach (really utilizing the feedback of the muscles / body to find spots of tension or knots) to working with the body and not just massaging at a hard level. I usually leave massages sore and relaxed although I left here not super sore but my muscles and body felt relaxed. I was impressed with Sierra's ability to find the knots or tight spots and to work on them in a way that's wasn't only painful (a few spots were but that's normal). I got a deal on my massage as it was my first one which was extremely affordable and likely started a new little splurge for future me to continue caring for my body in a way which feels productive and healing. Outside of this experience I have also come to Wellspring to do a free yoga class which was extremely helpful in releasing body tension and relaxing. There is also tea and water for customers. Overall, I think that the employees at Wellspring care for their customers and truly want to help. This is shown in how they talk, present, the engagement that's shown, and the hard work they do. I would highly recommend coming here as massages are fairly priced and the employees truly seem to care.

She had been seen at other physical therapy centers but never seemed to improve much. After it was recommended that she seek treatment at Wellspring she had an evaluation and has begun treatment. She says that she feels like they are REALLY helping her and for the first time has not had to take Ibuprophen every moring for pain! Apparently they incorporate a "holistic, whole body approach" using hands on and various tools to also address years of muscles tightening or weakening. She added that she has found the staff (PT's, PTA's, Physician Assistant, front office) work exceedingly well together as a team helping, encouraging, supporting and reinforcing her progress and simplifing scheduling and insurance issues. Based on my friend's experience currently, I would highly recommend the clinic. I will update this post at another date.
