i was surprised at this place in a good way. My sister in law asked me to stop and pick up some chicken wings Honestly I was thinking REALLY!! However I was pleasantly surprised at the deliciousness. It was hot and delicious. The chicken was tender and seasoned perfectly. Our order was ready when we arrived ... very very pleased it was quick in and out! read more

The chicken was surprisingly good! The macaroni and cheese wasn't as good. Customer was Good & attentive. The atmosphere was ok. read more

This is a chain worth going to : ) I think it is the today version of what Long John Silvers was when I was a kid. Few locations in SE Michigan with basic seafood of course. I remember as a kid that LJS was tasty fried goodness, I did try it two years ago and it was horrible. I am not sure if it is a nice memory of the food or how it really tasted, so I will go with the was how it was years ago lol. Nu Wave has good basic deep fried food, nothing fancy. I have had the shrimp, white fish, chicken wings and fries. All were good for what they are meant to be : ) Oh and they sprinkle Lemon Pepper on their food which I love. Thumb Up for this place ! (skip the pasta salad when they have it, trust me) read more

Now I remember Why I stopped going to Nu Wave. Bought 21 pieces of catfish six was so over done we could eat it, the rest of them was so chewy just not a good taste. read more

Worst food ever, I ordered 1 pound of shrimp which was cooked hard, also the clam strips I ordered was black as heck and hard as a brick , only thing that was ok was the hush puppies. All I can say is that you wont get my money ever again with this being the second time I got bad food from yaw read more

With the Coronavirus going around, the last thing I want to do is get sick, but apparently this establishment thinks otherwise.I was just told that they don't clean or inspect the shrimp,so people eat at your own risk,if the shrimp isn't clean what else isn't being cleaned or checked.I can drop you some more,no thanks just give me my money back and I will be going somewhere else that cares read more

I ordered two three piece dark chicken meals for $5.99 not three pieces of dark chicken only at $3.99. This is how it appears on the online menu: Chicken Dark Served with fries, coleslaw, and bread. 5.99 I got home and there was only chicken and condiments for a meal. I went back to Nu Wave and they tried to tell me that's how it comes. I had to argue for the rest of my meal. In the end I got it. The chicken is over cooked and too salty. I won't be going back. read more

I used door dash to order food from here and based on the reviews I had high hopes- I ordered the tenders- they were huge but mushy- and I couldn't taste the lemon/ salt seasoning- they were bland- I ordered a side of Mac cheese and it came cold- like it came right out of the fridge- heated it up and it tasted like store bought frozen Mac cheese- didn't eat it-but I had huge hopes for the chicken which was a let down read more

Two of the best things about Nu Wave is Moneer and Mattmud. All their food is great ! The Chicken Wings, Chicken Tenders with or without sauce, Shrimp, and I've hooked a lot of people on their Catfish Fillets and Talapia read more

The food is okay however customer service is horrible. Called today (10/2/20) around 5pm to place an order and the young lady was so rude and obnoxious that I will never order from there again. 8 mile-Gratiot location. read more

Best fried chicken in Detroit. Maybe the best in the world?? The prices are unreal cheap and the amount of food you get is straight up ignorant. More people need to know about this place! Number one baby. read more

Every time I come to Detroit, I have my husband take me to Nu Wave. I love their fried shrimp. The prices are reasonable and I love the flavor. The put lemon pepper on mostly all of their food which is fine and gives it that extra kick. Their fish is good as well. I like their chicken, but the wings are a little small. So, if you are in Detroit and you see a Nu Wave...stop in. read more

I love this location! Food is always hot and ready when they say it's ready. The cook and waitress are both friendly and they always add extra seasoning to the food. I drive from Ypsilanti on days when I want delicious food and great service read more

This is about the Lansing location - I am so angry about this. Decided to give them a try last Fri, stopped in and placed a take out order. Waited about 15 min (was treated to the cashier yelling for several min at another employee at the front counter). Finally the cook sticks his head in and says that he just arrived and would start our order right away but it would be another 15 min wait. Immediately told the cashier we weren't willing to wait that long and just wanted a refund. She said she didn't know how, and called the manager. The manager told her that they don't do refunds on credit card orders (we had paid with Discover) and she was not allowed to give cash back. He just offered more food instead. We asked the cashier for the managers information and she said she didn't know his real name (!) they all just called him King and gave us his cell phone number. I was pretty flabbergasted at all of this. I placed a chargeback through Discover, but the $15 is really beside the point. It's going to cost them more than the $15 in the long run, that's not how you treat customers. read more

I have eaten at Nu Wave so many times the fried chicken is like something your mother made when you was a kid but only a little better. My only problem with the fried bird is it looks more like a Cornish hen than a chicken because the wings are so small but they are tasty. I always get a side of BBQ sauce to dip mines into, yes the goodness, its so official. read more

I had a Groupon and they did not provide my cole slaw....very disappointed and not worth going back just for that. Frustrating when places forget items. read more

Man this is the best chicken in the world! Period! I'm from Atlanta and I have been very faithful to Gladys Knights Chicken & Waffles.. this place is a dump! i was over charged. THIS place steal your money and won't give it back. The cashier charged me double at the W. 8mile and Lahser location. I took my online statement to show i was over charged the manager named Mo told me, "i ain't got to do nothing" i called before i came and i was told that i would be refunded. when i got there they were looking for two receipts but i only placed one order so therefore there is only 1 receipt. i told him i wanted my money back that was all i had! they didn't care and was not concerned. nu wave are thieves. check your account do not use a debit card read more
