Attached to Sobeys, as most NSLC stores…read moreI've seen, but in a very large retail complex which would allow you to to get all your shopping/groceries done in one go. I am not a fan of the way you have to move from the Sobeys to the NSLC once you have done your shopping. If you have more than a couple of bags of groceries from Sobeys then you can't go into the NSLC without ditching your cart, which often means having to leave, stash your groceries in the car (good luck if you don't have one) and then go back to the NSLC. Kind of a hassle I think. On the other hand they have quite a good selection here.....comparable to some of the bigger NSLC stores in the HRM. Be sure to catch their wine events where they feature a particular wine from a particular region. The store associates are friendly, and if a certain item isn't stocked in that particular store in Sackville, they will call around, or use the computer to find other locations that do carry what you want.

There's a full selection of wines, spirits and liqueurs, but the hook is the large (36) selection of local beers and ciders, advertised on the large board behind the bar. Apparently they rotate the selection on a regular basis, so there will definitely be something for everyone. No food, aside from the standard bar snacks, though they are entirely happy for you to bring stuff in and there are several decent establishments in the plazas either side of Brookline. It's a real community pub too, with a busy programme of music, comedy, quiz nights etc. Definitely need to check it out on a busy evening to get an idea of the vibe and maybe add the fifth star.

The store is our largest in my opinion and sometimes they have taste testings going on, ( a nice bonus). But overall , this has a nice selection and nothing is overly cramped. I have bought craft beer from the cool fridge here too, and like looking at all the different kinds of beer, from all around the world. We tried a nice beer on vacation in France and I was happy to see that they sell the same beer here too. And to my surprise, today I found out they have free cardboard boxes at the front of the store near the window. I was so happy! I have been in so many stores in BL looking for cardboard boxes to mail parcels in, and the other stores mainly tell me, no sorry, we crush them down right away. Here at the BL NSLC, I could take my pick from about 30 boxes, the size that can hold 12 wine bottles. Thanks! I enjoy your store!

Although most NSLCs have pretty bad selection when it comes to foreign beers (pretty much none unless you consider American beer foreign) and other beers from the rest of Canada this one actually has less selection. Lagers and IPAs is all theres ever is at NSLCs rarely ever any trappist ales. Also just moved to NS, geez yall are getting raped price wise. No wonder people are moving west. I returned to the store (PEAKVIEW WAY, Bedford), checking if if fell on the way, no luck. They checked the camera to ensure that the clerk had put 2 cartridges in my bag and sent me away without satisfaction. They clerk had even remembered me. I can't keep paying for a 3rd cartridge when I hadn't even opened the 1st too!!

There is little variation amongst NSLC branches, with the only real variable being location size…read more ie. it's just like every other NSLC, so all I can really comment on is its size and perhaps customer service. The location has a very brand-new sparkly feel to it, and everything is well organized, which makes shopping there easy. It's one of the larger NSLCs I've seen with the possible exception of the Bayers Lake location.. so they are fairly well stocked with the typical NSLC fare. There's a wine tasting station, which was not operational on my last visit, so I assume it's kept for special events and promos. Definitely something I wouldn't mind trying in the future. Another appealing feature at this location is the large walk-in cooler section. It is very big compared to other branches, and with quite a variety of chilled beverages. Prices are absolutely terrible (especially if you spend a large amount of time in the US like I do), but that's not something that can be blamed on the store, since the government taxes alcohol to the max.
