He and his crew worked very hard, and came back on the weekend to finish due to power outage of several days, so the floors would be done for Monday move. The old saying of you get what you pay for...FCI was more expensive, but in the end it was TOTALLY worth it. The customer service alone was worth the extra money! Matt went out of his way to help me move a few heavy boxes the movers put in front of sink! The roofer, or cleaner put the "safety/anti burglar " dowel in sliding door wrong, and it was jammed. They are not the cheapest, but they do very good work and offer solid value. They have a nicely laid-out showroom, and their installers are experienced and provide excellent service.

tl;dr Expect a quality install by a great team who will stand by their product until the end, but…read morebe prepared for it to take a long time with little to no communication throughout the entire process. We reached out to Schmidt for replacing our carpet with flooring, our stairs with new carpet, and a replacing laminate with tile in the bathroom/mudroom. Setting up an appointment to have someone take measurements of the project and get a quote going was fast and easy, as well as coming in to their showroom to go through samples. The timeline: 9/12, received first quote which was missing the tile work, was told revised quote would be coming soon. After follow-ups, received revised quote three weeks later on 10/4. Signed off on 10/29. Flooring installed 11/14-16. Carpet installed 12/10, and transitions were to be installed at the same time. Flooring fix on 12/11, and transitions were to be installed at the same time. Floor transitions finally installed 12/20. Tile installed 1/7-9 along with additional flooring fixes. Now I realize a part of the delay was our fault with as we didn't approve the quote right away... but I never expected this to be more than a two month process, let alone a four month process. Most of the time we were out of the loop of when things were to take place. All communication had to start with us, as we never heard from Schmidt first in preparation of anything. Installs did not take place on scheduled days, as the product had not arrived and we were not notified ahead of time. Installers asked us questions on where product was, as they were not notified by Schmidt either. It took countless calls, voicemails and emails to get things moving. The entire time we reiterated we were happy with the craftsmanship that had been completed and the teammates that came to our house but that we were very frustrated on the lack of communication. You may have noticed some fixes in there, too. Well, there were some minor issues with flooring cut too short in places, as well as the carpet on the stairs being cut too short, making for an odd gap at the transition along with a very loose end cap. This was all fixed beautifully in the end, but it took quite a bit of communication, time, and extra time off of work on our end to get things resolved. In the end we are very happy with our floors. We get compliments all the time from guests, as well. The process was neither flawless or stress free, but in the end we know we made the right choice with Schmidt.
