I did eventually leave SGF to work with a newer, smaller fertility clinic in the area. The doctors there listened to my concerns and offered me a customized treatment plan. I got pregnant with minimal intervention (essentially just medication), and welcomed my twin girls in December. But, back to SGF. I struggled with unexplained infertility and not once did I feel as though the doctors there were actually interested in figuring out why I struggling to conceive so they could treat the problem, but, rather, they were interested in making money -- pushing me to immediately pursue IVF instead of starting with less invasive, costly options. I tried, several times, to ask questions and share concerns with my doctor, but they fell on deaf ears. The doctors here are not actually interested in diagnosing and treating medical issues, they are interested in making money. At one point, I even felt as though the doctor was explicitly chastising me for not opting into the most expensive treatments. With lots of options in the DMV, I'd look for a clinic that makes you feel comfortable and heard and, for me, that was not SGF. (Side note: as others have mentioned, their billing team is AWFUL. I would have been willing to look past it if the physicians had been worthwhile, but it was just another reason to leave.)

The typical service I described should cost about $400.00. No wonder they get 2 stars. This is a money grubbing outfit. Dr. Patel barely acknowledged me, did no real exam, and only glanced at the X-ray for a few seconds. She answered basic questions with eye-rolling and obvious irritation. The entire interaction felt dismissive and hostile. Her appearance was also unprofessional for a surgical setting -- no gown or mask, hair uncovered, clothing that looked like pajamas. It did not feel like a proper medical environment. After this so-called consultation -- before any treatment was done -- I was handed a treatment plan with questionable charges. Most outrageous was a $150 "materials fee" described only as "everything on the tray." No insurance code. No itemization. No explanation. No insurance coverage for that made-up charge, of course. When I asked what that meant, they refused to clarify. So let me get this straight -- you're charging extra for the basic surgical instruments and supplies required to perform the procedure at all? Would you do surgery without a tray otherwise? On top of that, they demanded 50% payment upfront just to keep the appointment, a policy never disclosed when scheduling. When I calmly asked for clarification, the doctor became confrontational and said it wasn't her obligation to explain charges or policies. She told me to go elsewhere and still kept the consultation fee. I needed to fight to get in back later. For the record: I never proceeded with surgery at this office. To make matters worse, my insurance was later billed for an X-ray they never even took -- I brought my own. I had to dispute the charge as well. Hands down the most unprofessional and unethical dental experience I've ever had. Stay away.
