Gyrotonic is a superb system to address joint concerns and build flexibility and strength throughout the body. After menopause, recovering from injuries has been more complicated but Casey has been steadily and consistently helping me with patience and nudging me to go further than I would on my own. Very little feels sore after her workouts and it has been compatible with my PT and now yoga again finally! Besides that we laugh a lot! Call her up and give it a few visits and you may be hooked too. My body insists on going even if my head is saying you just need more cardio, and boom, I build up a sweat the next lesson!

In addition to my enthusiasm for the Gyrotonic method and Casey's instruction, another element that sets Movement Barn apart is the setting. The ambiance of The Movement Barn is calming and relaxing, The one on one session takes place in a small rustic barn. Views are of wild flowers and pastures nearby. Despite the proximity to downtown Charlottesville, you feel as if you have escaped into the countryside. The calm atmosphere allows teacher and client to focus on the exercises at hand without distraction. I enjoy every session and remain impressed with Casey's commitment to and knowledge of her craft.

A very weird experience in a very nice gym. first, the good news: the ACAC location is clean,…read morewell-maintained and has everything anybody wants in a workout. I visited upstairs and did the elliptical, some free weights and a leg press. all worked great. I was disappointed to learn that ACAC as a multi-location workout facility doesn't have a membership tier that is inclusive for temporary/non-residents. it's either, you buy a one-time pass for $25; a three-day one; or a full monthly. nothing in between. Charlottesville itself is known for having a very transient, ever-changing population so this policy doesn't make sense to me. When I was there, some weirdo was on the stairclimber making this god-awful coughing noise about every 10 seconds. look, I know everyone has their workout quirks but spreading your germs around knowingly (in the age of airborne viruses like COVID) is a bad idea. I brought it to the attention of the desk attendant and she did not seem particularly phased by the news. ACAC Downtown is within walking distance of my flat/crashpad so I will go back. but I'm just hoping they either bring back the punch card or institute a program for non-residents to make life a bit easier.

I started at ACAC from PT and I did not continue after my 60 days. It is a very dirty facility…read more You see women cleaning all the time but I don't know what they are doing. The women's locker room is disgusting, it smells and there is hair all over the floor and on the shower walls and floor. The hot tub is dirty too. The locker room is way over due for an overhaul. The lockers are dirty and don't get cleaned out ever. It doesn't make sense to have kids in the women's locker room either. Have a family area for changing clothes. Also, the pool is always overrun by kids and it's loud. Terrible gym don't waste your time or money.

I had been going to Cali for acupuncture and I wish I could give her 6 stars! She helped me with a physical issue I was dealing with, and most importantly, by seeing her regularly I was able to get on a regular sleeping schedule again. Cali is truly, truly special. Head's up that the acupuncture space is a community model - so no individual rooms (which has never detracted from my experience - it's just a good thing to know!)
