The person was blocked by a vehicle that may have been for the county, or may have just been a person dropping off. They were there the whole time. Anyway, when you pull in, go directly to your right if you want to recycle something. There are different stations based on the material. The bins in the middle are for cardboard and such, all labeled so you can tell. The electronics were on the right side in a covered area. TV monitors and accessories are separate stops FYI. The exit was confusing... I drove toward the exit signs and they seemed to be leading to where the trash trucks were going?? I turned around and went back the way I came. You may never need to come here, but if you're disposing of a TV/computer monitor, this is the place to go, as it is illegal to throw out with curbside trash. This facility also seems to have compost/mulch services. They do a lot here, so it really is a good thing for the community. Just felt like I was wandering through a maze.

It convinced me that they are the most trustworthy and organized scrap yard in the area. Those claims couldn't be more wrong. I had about 120 lbs of various higher-value metals and I was the only "customer" on the yard. One of my metals was counted as a lower-grade metal than it should have been (extruded aluminum, counted as old sheet aluminum). On a better note, the weighing session was straightforward, methodical and transparent, but the unwillingness of the staff to test the aluminum ruined that. After weighing, I waited in the "pay room" for probably 20 minutes, still the only customer on the yard and despite the fact that there were two ladies behind the counter. The website said they pay cash, but I was offered $100 cash or a check for the full amount, $102. I was a little disillusioned when I left but I was angry when I took a closer look at the itemized receipt; They rounded down every metal's subtotal. For example: if it was $1.10, I was paid $1. If it was $1.88, I was paid $1. In the end, this little ploy cheated me out of several dollars. And they have a sign that says "Tips are Appreciated." Really? The short of it: It took 1.5 hours, and I left feeling cheated on a couple of points. No thanks, I'll stick with my regular yard with a nice country drive, where I can be in and out in 15 minutes and have never felt cheated.

The last visit I had some old, defunct flat screen monitors for a computer I don't use any more and they do take a number of small electronics and lead batteries. Just make sure to follow the signs and instructions. When I have visited, it was during the week so there was never a line, you can pull your car up to whatever section you are disposing at and be on your way. There are usually staff members doing something at the various stations, so if you have a question on where to place your items, they are the best bet.

back again... kinda stinks but where else are you gonna go with your various unmentionables?? gotta…read morehave a sticker on your windshield to use the facilities because, well, you know, local taxes pay for this (and tipping fees... local taxes and tipping fees pay for this.) sticker arrives with the property tax notice so keep an eye out for it and when it arrives it's supposed to be attached in the lower driver's side corner of the windshield, anywhere else and you will be subject to mockery and taunting by the staff (it's all good natured fun so just play along and promise to do better next year.) they'll accept pretty much all your household waste here and all they ask is that you bin it properly: scrap metals, lawn waste, construction debris, cardboards, glass (in two flavors: clear and brown), tin cans, limited quantities of used motor oil, appliances, and regular trash. even if you have curbside waste pickup you should stop in at least once annually since you're funding it. not quite as fun as the actual dump on an autumn day but there's also not so many large rodents to contend with either.

This place used to work smoothly in the old location. Now it's really screwed up. They have tons of…read morenew equipment they don't need and don't use, but the operation of it is horribly inefficient. If you have a couple bags of kitchen trash to drop off, you have to go through a big truck scale and wait five minutes behind a long line of cars and trucks, some of them dumping tons of yard waste or construction debris. It's very inconvenient. Then when you get to the scale they don't weigh your load or even look at it. They just wanted to make you wait in line in the hot sun for no reason. The whole process is very poorly designed and their operation of it seems improvised and haphazard. It's not worth it.
