Novelty Park is a 2 acre park in a neighborhood just north of Atlantic Avenue and west of the railroad tracks. It is near the much larger Mitchell More Park. Novelty Park is named after the nearby Novelty Park Apartment built in 1970.
Novelty Park has a covered playground, paved walkway, one picnic pavilion, and open space for play. I love the cheerful purple and lime green color scheme of the play equipment. There were slides, climbing structures, and swings that looked in good condition. It is nice that the play equipment is fenced in for safety and covered for shade protection from the sun.
Unfortunately the one picnic area was being utilized by a sleeping unhoused person. My favorite feature of this park was a large poinciana tree in full bloom. It adds so much beauty to the park. read more
