This place saved my life. I completed their 90-Day Residential Treatment Program in Wimberley after struggling with alcohol addiction and relapses for many years. I had previously been through treatment at other facilities, but none of these provided the kind of comprehensive approach I needed to overcome my addiction and live a better life that I found at Nova. If you are battling alcohol or drug addiction and are serious about getting sober, this is the place to do it. During the 90 days, they will guide you through the 12 Steps and give you the mental and spiritual tools for long-term sobriety--if you are open and willing. You will also dig deep into the core emotional issues that burden you. You will have your own Recovery Specialist and Clinical Counselor who work with you on your personalized program, along with a team of instructors to guide you. This is not a lightweight getaway designed to pamper you. They are serious about recovery, which means there is lots of accountability, structure, and discipline that we alcoholics and addicts need. The staff truly care, and many of them are in recovery themselves which makes an incredible difference as they understand your struggle. The facility is located on a ranch in the beautiful Texas Hill Country and the grounds provide an awesome, natural atmosphere for your journey. In addition to working on your substance abuse issues, you will get back to a healthier lifestyle as the food is great and the daily fitness programming will get you in shape even if you haven't worked out in a decade like me. 90 days may seem like a long time, but it is nothing compared to the rest of your life that is waiting. And as someone who was completely against the idea at first because of short-sited worries that I could not be away from family and work that long, it went by fast and I am now in a much better position to be a more useful person, husband, father and employee. I am not alone on this journey, either. The fellow clients I met there became brothers. I am forever grateful for this experience and highly recommend Nova if you are looking not only for freedom from addiction, but how to be better at life. read more

I called Nova for help, they sent me Briarwood Detox it was a Nightmare.

Nightmare. Literally. I will list the fact and you can discern for yourself. I paid out of pocket for my friend to get the help he needed. First, don't believe the intake counselor when they tell you the center can take your loved one through the 12 steps in 30 days. In 21 days (the amount of time spent at the center); he went through step one. They told me he started step 2 on his 20th day. He only saw his 12-step counselor 2 times during his stay. At this rate it would have taken 34 weeks! Second, the AC was out in his room for 4 days. They had to move the meetings it was so hot. FYI Texas heat is no joke. Third, my friend got a staff infection when he was there and didn't receive medical treatment for 48 hours. Many issues with this situation. Fourth, the rehab roomed my friend with a schizophrenic person that talked to himself. My friend woke up with this person standing by his bed with no clothes on watching him. This same person urinated on the bathroom floor and the rehab did not clean it up for 3 days. Health Code violation. Naturally the center told me that all of these situations were handled as soon as they found out about them and insinuated my friend lied about all 5 stations. Why did these situations even happen? 1- Does not push 12-step program 2- Bad AC in Texas 3- Two days wait for emergency medical treatment 4- Gave my friend a Schizophrenic roommate 5- Did not clean up urine for 3 days. This rehab is not safe and does not maintain a clean or healthy facility. Send your loved one somewhere else. They didn't entertain the thought of reimbursing me my funds for the 9 days not spent at the center either. Nova Recovery Center in Wimberly Texas is a Nightmare. read more

I have a fair amount of experience with SA treatment centers through my job as a counselor. This program impressed me for a number of reasons. First....their intake folks are accessible, professional and easy to work with. 2nd....their detox program in North Austin seems to offer a really nice, clean and homey environment. 3rd.....folks I have placed here have thanked me for getting them in and have reported a really positive experience. Lastly..... I appreciate the communication I have received from the counseling/recovery staff regarding progress and discharge planning for those I have placed there. This is not always as evident in many treatment centers. Good work Nova! read more

I have a family member here currently, and I just had my first visitation today. He's only been there for about a week and a half, but the transformation I'm already seeing is incredible and gives me hope. Even better, I can see that he has hope, too. He says that of course it is still not easy and there are bad moments, but I can tell he is in a much, much better place. It's like a decade of cynicism has been cleared away. It just seems like a really good start, and my relief at seeing that cannot be overstated. The grounds are very pretty and peaceful, and it seems their schedule strikes a good balance between keeping them busy and meditative/reflective. The staff seems very friendly. Obviously, the focus is on the person's recovery, but they do a good job, in my opinion, of honoring the stress that the family goes through as well by giving reasonable and informative updates. Thank you, those are priceless. As a word of advice for visitors, if you are like me and can't find your way out of a paper bag even with GPS, you might want to look at the directions beforehand in case the GPS signal gets wonky. Of course, if you're like me, you also can't read a map to save your life, so...I guess leave early to make sure you have enough time to circle Wimberly ten times before you find the place (would not have been possible without the very nice police officer who took pity on me and helped me out). read more

Nova Recovery Center, Wimberley Texas. They talk a good talk but cannot produce. Nova is seriously understaffed, the few care providers are responsible for multiple jobs. They claim 90 day inpatient drug recovery treatment of chronic relapse, underlying co-conditions such as anxiety/ depression disorders and specialized grief counseling. This was our experience: My daughter was admitted in December/2016. The fee of roughly $35,000 was split into three payments, the first payment of $11,000 (non- refundable) was collected. Through group therapy the curriculum launched straight into getting to the bottom of her issues. This process of exposing painful losses in her life coupled with just coming out withdrawal put her in a raw and needy state. She called me crying saying they want her to discuss her painful life experiences (the loss of her brother and husband) and once she started this process it was necessary for them to end the conversation and resume in one week when another time slot was available for her. She begged for one-on-one therapy but was told the schedule was full and she had to wait her turn. She lasted only two weeks. As her parent and financier Nova did not bring me into discussions to retain her as a client. When my daughter left the treatment center she called me from the bus station wanting to come home. I left several messages with Nova for 5 days expecting an exit/wrap up discussion of Courtney's time at the treatment center. On 5th day when I finally reached Jenn Matthews the head mental health advisor she was very indifferent and blamed my daughter for the breakdown of treatment. I'm now questioning the staff credentials. The truth is Nova and other treatment centers across America have a doctor on staff that is absent. This is how they can advertise as a "medical" staffed and based treatment center. The actual handlers are anything but true medical personnel. If you are reading this because you have a son or daughter with an addiction problem my heart goes out to you. Treatment centers are merely opportunist cashing in on a generational epidemic and the hard earned money of frantic parents trying to save their child's life. read more

No stars!!!! after my wife went to the detox and nearly died they tried to send her to the nova recovery Center where they took all her stuff her wallet her keys and everything else and then kicked her out of detox then I had to go pick up her stuff and Mark rectum threatened me multiple times. That's what a counselor should never do! he told me he was in charge of the rehab. Which is definitely not true! Also I've been calling for three months trying to get my money back with my lawyers on the phone and they won't return my calls I wonder why ? then the director calls me and starts a fight with me calling me a junkie telling me I am high when I was not and am not! these people do not know how to treat addiction I would not send a loved one here! Horrible people. If this is how they treat people how do you think they would treat your loved one who is suffering from addiction? I also see a lot of their staff giving reviews with five stars!!! If there was a way to give a place no stars, Nova Recovery Center would earn that. My son was there for the 90 day program. He is an addict. He had issues. He struggled. It seems every time I received a phone call, everyone was shocked that they were dealing with a problematic young man. I supported whatever they wanted to do to help him get to wherever he needed to be. The next issue was his insurance went into effect in January. I called three times to speak to the person handling that. I finally got his primary counselor to get her to call me. I was told then they had tried to get prior authorization and it was denied and they would like to know how I was paying in full. I asked for the information since I knew his policy did not require prior authorization and it was an in network facility that I had sent him to. I then received a confrontational call from the COO and the program director advising me that I had said I would not work with them on payment which is not what I had said. I had actually said if they would get the forms for authorization signed by my adult son, I would do whatever necessary to ensure all monies were paid. They were offering to waive 30 days since I have not been contacted, but I in fact told them then I did not think it was necessary again since prior authorization was not necessary and it was in network. The following Monday I received a call and was advised that my sons discharge date had been moved up from March 10, to March 5 and now March 3. Last night he called To let me know they dropped him off at sobriety Living. A place that he did not get to review, it was nothing short of a crack house, which is one of theirs too. He was extremely worried about the environment he was in and exposed to. His phone was not working, so he had no way to communicate and no way to ensure he could work. It was almost spiteful and retaliation to get him out of there. I am a healthcare worker and have been in senior management the majority of my life. I would not trust My loved one with these people. I will report them and follow this through. Not only are they not getting paid for the remainder of his stay, they will not even return the calls so I can get information to get reimbursed for what I have paid. Additionally my son tried to call them yesterday and of course no one answered. Please be mindful, the storms were going on during his stay so you think they could have allocated time for that too because people were not showing for work. Nothing shows or symbolizes concern for addiction treatment. Ridiculous that the insurance is there and all they have to do is file the claim. Just in case someone wants to respond, the CPT codes were not correct but again PRIOR AUTHORIZATION was not needed and when I asked for a reference number for their call they did not have one but I gave them one for mine verifying all of above.
