This place helped me save my life!!! Great employees who care about you and get to know you, counselors are wonderful and EXTREMELY educated about substance abuse, highly recommend if you or a loved one are struggling. read more

Horrible staff, power trip, tell people they can't have things based upon rules that don't exist, lie about people, drunk staff, put only certain individuals on blast in front of all there peers, completely humiliating and embarrassing them, making them stand up in front of all there peers and apologize for all there faults as an addict if you question policies. Horribly unprofessional establishment, ran by very shady, immature humans, bad people for the most part. If you love janitorial work, then go here, you will spend 60% of your time cleaning and 40% actually doing treatment oriented stuff, steer very clear of this place unless you want to go back to using read more

I've been to 7 different treatment centers and nova was the best! Nova laid out the foundation for my long term sobriety

I have been in residential treatment facilities before and Nova is by far the WORST one I've ever been to. The free time they have is either smoking cigarettes or just sitting there doing nothing. They treat like garbage there and just fill your head with lies because there is absolutely no follow through there, the director of the place is just running it into the ground, there wasn't one time where I was actually happy there, I was miserable the whole time I was there, DON'T COME HERE IF YOU HAVE THE OPTION read more

Sera Bennett is an awful therapist. My ex hired her to treat my son, and she violated every ethical code regarding children who are involved in a highly contentious custody case laid down by the APA. The APA states that when a therapist treats a child involved with a contentious custody case, the therapist must not take everything that is said in session at face-value, because of the incredibly high risk of parental alienation. When a therapist improperly treats a child for whom one parent is targeting the other parent, and using the child as a pawn to destroy the targeted parent, the therapist risks exponentially compounding the damage done by the alienating parent, and further traumatizing the child (as well as the targeted parent). This is EXACTLY what Sera Bennett did to my son, and to me. She picked up on NONE of the GLARING signs that my ex was targeting me, and using my son in the process. She showed not one ounce of compassion, empathy, or understanding of trauma, parental alienation, and the deep and lasting damage it can cause for the child and the targeted parent. At one point, she asked me to do a joint session with my son, which I was more than happy to do. I had a flat tire on the way to the appointment, and still made it there only 15 minutes late. But, she met me in the lobby to berate me for being late (though I think a flat tire is a valid and acceptable reason- it's not as though I have ESP and could have predicted the flat in order to leave enough time to change my tire and still arrive on time). She was unreasonable and highly judgmental. Then, during the session, she explained that I needed to apologize to my son "for all the things I had done to him," such as "forcing him to share a room with his sister, when he was 10, and she was 8." Yet, there was no way I could afford a three bedroom apartment. People the world over live 10 people to one room, yet, somehow I was "traumatizing" my son by being too broke to live in a bigger place. When I explained that I would NOT apologize to my son for doing the absolute best I could, she proceeded to yell at me, and accuse me of not caring about MY CHILD, RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM. I was devastated and humiliated. It was so bad that I left the session in tears, scared that my baby boy would hate me because I didn't have as much money as his father. This woman has no clue how to treat traumatized children, and she is as insightful as a bag of bricks. I cannot fathom how she is licensed anywhere. She should have her license to practice revoked, and be banned from ever again doing anything that could impact anyone's emotional or mental health. She is a menace to the world of psychology, and to every traumatized parent and child with whom she comes into contact. Every time I think about her behavior toward me, I become infuriated, all over again. I sincerely hope that no one ever allows her to damage their children the way she damaged mine. If you are wise, you will steer well clear of her. Irresponsible and unethical do not begin to describe her therapeutical approach and abilities. My son and I will spend the rest of our lives trying to undo the deep damage she did. read more

Best care I've ever received. ( I've been to 3 residential treatments and over 10 IOPs)

If I could give 0 stars I would but it is not a option. If you want to through 7 grand away then go to Nova. They literally kicked a person out every single day for little to no reason. Its a scam. The counselors are more like prison guards and the food is always pre cooked and reheated. You have nothing to do. No therapeutic activities, no books, no nothing. I could go on and on about how disappointed I was. I met with my counselor 3 times the entire time I was there. They have people off the street conducting the groups. No certifications or anything. Everyone who works there treat with with disrespect. I got better treatment through the DOC. Think I'm just talking? Go ahead and spend 7 grand and then re read my review. read more

I have been to nova twice with good long term results. I don't believe my mental health and history of trauma was addressed but overall it gave me structure and a period of sobriety to move forward. Not everyone is treated equally though and my roommate was catered to for her multiple problems with law enforcement. I repeatedly saw counselors meet with her multiple times and I barely got assistance. She is probably dead. She lied and stole. Slept on top of her bed. Never did laundry and borrowed others clean laundry. I really don't understand why she got so much more attention than others did. My admission was paid with cash. The program is good except for the counseling aspect. Idt anyone is any more deserving of the same attention to needs. Perhaps the thought was this girl is going to die. The knowledge regarding ua's was lacking as well. I was not allowed to take a non addictive muscle relaxer and accused of using benzos prior to admission when I had a rx for and it was not a benzo. That's unacceptable for a facility to not have that knowledge. On discharge I was given 50 plus pages of a printout of meetings that was completely outdated instead of just being given a website or knowledge of AA app. Kinda micky mouse. Some of the staff really did not seem to actually do their jobs in a way I would expect from people who have recovered. Unprofessional. I'm sure it's hard to reach accurate conclusions about each client but maybe that's the point in there should be no judgment and equality in regards to attention to care. There was a dirty homeless man admitted that honestly idt got even basic attention and help and left or was kicked out in a short time. Don't get me wrong I'm grateful for nova but they have a lot of room for improvement. The knowledge I have today 9 years later is very different. I met with counselor maybe 4 times and not even close to a hour. Nothing was asked about my family situation or living situation. You could do better for 28 days. I think the reviews I've read about staff having an attitude (ego) are spot on. I'm sure it's a difficult job. read more

Great staff! Completely satisfied with what they accomplished in the four weeks my family member was with them.

All is well here except for one thing. They let the client/patient/addict take their pills out of the bottle versus counting out first and putting the prescribed amount in a paper cup then handing it to them. This sets addicts up for failure from the get go. This destroyed my future with them and I was hidden from the rest of the group then led out a side door in secret which dramatized the situation more so just a few tips here. Stay consistent and treat everyone the same so we all can feel equal. I don't know why I was treated like a criminal at the end. I was cooperative and participated in everything asked of me. I wouldn't make this such a big deal, but when you have the staff saying they'll fight to keep you in treatment in order to save your life then let you go for one mistake when other clients stay after making several mistakes it's just not fair guys so try to change the way you operate so we addicts don't end up dead for being tossed on the street for something you were responsible for in this case passing out/controlling our medication rather than be hypocritical and play the victim. It goes both ways even for you. Good luck to anyone who goes here. If you accidentally slip your going to be thrown to the wolves and not given a second thought. Unbelievable. Thankfully, there are other places put there. That's ashamed, as I really counted on staying and finding no matter what. read more

I wish there was a negative star for this facility. My family thought we were reaching out for some professional help. We should have done more research but took the word from a friend that had a positive experience 20 plus years ago. Phones are tap, there is no professional staff on site. No programs or structured days. Most of the inpatients are court order and paid by the State of Wisconsin. Patients are allow to come and go as they feel fit. The age population is 30 years and younger. Several patients were laying on a table for 18 hours unattended to. Admission process was told to sign no explanation just told to sign 20 pages. While my family member was showering someone urinated on her clothes and shoes. No accountability. The inpatients run the facility. I understand that people would read this and think REALLY. I get that but I was reaching out for help the first time I didn't think I needed to do research. PLEASE don't send your family member to this facility or you will be living a nightmare. This is the first time I have ever posted on a public site, that how strongly I feel no one have go what me and my family are going through. I cant stress enough to do research if you are look for professional help vs. nightmare. e was a negative star Your review helps others learn about great local businesses.
