Earlier this year I called NJAPS to get a quote on a DE filter cleaning. I do my pool's routine maintenance but rely on pool services for repairs and filter cleaning. The last place that had cleaned the filter damaged the pump, so I was looking for a different company. NJAPS had good reviews overall. Spoke with Rochelle and she gave me a quote and said she'd be back in touch to set up a time for the filter cleaning. I had told her I only have work done at my home when I can be there, so I'd wait to hear from her.
A few days later, I heard a noise at the side of the house. I was just about to leave for an appointment, and went round to see what was going on. NJAPS had sent someone out to clean the filter. I told him no one from NJAPS had contacted me to set up an appointment and I had no idea he was coming today, but I can't be there so we'd have to reschedule.
Fast forward a few months. I had been caring for a family member who was very ill, so did not have time to reschedule the filter clean for awhile. After that loved one passed away, I called NJAPS to reschedule. Rochelle said she'd email me the quote and a time when they could come, but she couldn't make an appt over the phone. No problem.
Three days later, I received a voicemail from Rochelle saying they were declining the job because I had sent their technician away when he came, and because I was located outside their service area. I called back, saying I would find another company, but I wanted to set the record straight: NJAPS never scheduled a day or time with me before they sent someone out.
If you are a pool homeowner in FL (or a homeowner anywhere, for that matter), you know why it's a good idea to be at home whenever a service person is at your house. Necessary, in fact, esp with a new company (the last one I hired broke my pool pump so a DE cleaning cost me $750 in the end because I had to buy a new pump).
As for not being in their service area, I live in Flagler Beach. NJAPS is located IN FLAGLER BEACH, a town of 5000-6000 people. Yet somehow I am outside their service area?!
The real issue is that companies prefer to work only with customers who pay for weekly pool service. I get it, and I understand some customers generate more revenue than others, but they should just say they can't accept new clients instead of trying to pass blame on to a homeowner who didn't do anything wrong except believe that NJAPS would do what they had originally agreed to do.
I don't recommend this company and wouldn't attempt to re-hire in the future. read more
