Or was it the friendly and welcoming proprietors Lou and Colleen? One thing I am sure of is that I would love to come again and again. There are two rental cabins that are attached (connected) perfect for large family gatherings as each cabin has a bunk bed and another separate room with bed. Shower and bathroom, full size fridge, and a stove. There is another log cabin available but I did not see that one. Also, there is a bar with a pool table that can be rented for family gatherings as well. There is a private ramp (boat launch) and multiple docks right outside the cabins that are only 30 to 40 feet from the water. This place is magical. Come here from the city to completely unplug and unwind in this wooden paradise. I can't say enough about this place or Lou snd Colleen!

So this year we had a group of nearly 30 and while the facility housed us all well it is in very…read morepoor condition. The pictures that are on the website are not current and very misleading. The house is not as isolated like it shows, and there is not a large area between the house and water for games or the firepit. It is quite close in proximity leaving you to need to play yard games up near the driveway. As my pictures show the outside of the house is in need of some maintenance and cleaning with wasps and spiders taking up residence. Two of our family members were stung during our stay. While inside there are extension cords everywhere and the lack of outlets is very frustrating. Doors that open and shut very hard, poorly or not completely. There are bathrooms without locks on doors, no exhaust fans many of them with mold on the ceilings. The bar area in the basement was very dirty and none of the arcade games nor jute box worked, as stated they did. The grill was dirty and in very poor condition and had empty propane tanks. Overall we were saddened by the condition of the facility. For the cost we paid, we are unable to recommend this to future vacationers. This is a great little resort with six cottages and a bar/restaurant. The cottages are different…read moresizes and well maintained. They rent for $500 per week. Brothers Joe and Peter, the new owners have been making a lot of improvements to the resort and it is very nice. There is a good sized bar that is open to the lake on three sides so there is not a bad seat in the house. The food ranges from snacks and appetizers to wraps, burgers and of course, a fish fry and all were delicious. The drinks are good and reasonably priced and the atmosphere can't be beat. I sat in that bar for a long time and between the locals and guests and people passing through, everyone was friendly and fun. Each night I sat at a different campfire with the other guests and we all had a great time. They have boat rentals, a launch for guests and plenty of slips. Plus, they have the only beach on Pickerel Lake. It is a great place to relax and unwind. I can't wait to go back in the fall.

The lodge itself was spacious and comfortable but well worn. If you require cell phone or internet do not stay here. The TV has about 8 channels that are watchable about 25% of the time. The advertised Cellular amplifier tower system with indoor aerial does not work. We had zero cell phone ( 5G T Mobile ) connectivity at the lodge. It was a nice stay with a fantastic view but not worth the price.
